Pete Townshend, the first guitar smashing rock star...He and Kieth Moon were the two 'mad men' of The Who. Both were brilliant..
Pete, part-time singer, full time lead guitarist for the Who. Pete sang lead on the Who's Eminence Front, a song you all listened to a while back.
This song got me through some tough times. I pictured God singing this to me. ❤
Many of Pete`s songs had a spiritual message.
That’s Townsend says the song is about too ❤️
💯💯💯💯💯
Pete is the Lead Guitarist and writer with the Who.
Pete Townsend is a musical genius......
Pete Townshend, Lead Guitarist and chief Songwriter for The WHO, had himself a nice little solo career on the side. This early 80's effort was a minor hit on the radio from Pete's "Empty Glass" album, which also had another minor hit love song called "A Little Is Enough". Mr. Townshend has a real talent with words and music.
I wore this album out in college. Thanks for the memories. I just downloaded it!
This song has been used in several different movies. Such a feel-good song.
Love this song. It has such a happy beat to it. Pete Townshend, what a legend. Some crazy live performances with The Who.
Also check out Pete Townshend - Slit Skirts
Asia & BJ, you'll love his "Rough Boys" and "Slit Skirts!!
💕 Always Loved This Song!! ❣🎶
I absolutely loved this song back in the day. When it popped up on the radio, it was a real treat.
And then there’s John Hiatt’s “Perfectly Good Guitar” (to Pete Townsend’s trend-setting guitar smashing).
This is the only solo song from him that I've heard. This was on the music soundtrack for the film Look Who's Talking (1989) with John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, and the baby Mike voiced by Bruce Willis. Shoot.
Underrated
Such a great song 💛 Love you guys, love the channel. ❤
Great song! Thanks you guys. You're quite right about hearing this song in movie soundtracks. "Dan in Real Life" with Steve Carrell is one that comes to mind for me, a pretty good movie too, by the way.
I'd recommend Rough Boys, off the same album as this. For a more Who sounding track, another Pete solo song is I Want That Thing.
Pete Townshend live - / *"Face The Face"* / killer brass horns, harmonica and exciting stage performance.
Anyone who has seen "Look Who's Talking (starring John Travolta and the late Kirsty Alley) knows this song!
There's a live video of Give Blood, and face to face from a concert with David Gilmore that rocks. Peace
The great Simon Phillips on drums!!!
Don't worry Asia, I am working on your version already. I will write it up on guitar and keys.
Homie couldnt resist ❤❤😂😂
Such a sweet little song! Always a fav.
Asia was a little off, but this was used in a movie though I can’t remember what it was. I looked it up. The movie I saw it in was “Red Dog,” which I recommended you watch, though I first heard it in 1980.
Hey BJ, his name is pronounced: "Town-send" like the "H" is not there. Love your reactions!!! ☺✌💛, PJ
If you saw Look Who's Talking the John Travolta film, you definitely heard this song.
You guys are great. And your choice of music is tops!!!
Please checkout Pete Townshends song Pure & Easy
Pete has one of the greatest album titles ever in "All The Best Cowboy's Have Chinese Eyes". Think Clint Eastwood in his older cowboy movie days. Funny title. One of his best albums though musically overall is "Who Came First". Of course that's in my opinion.
My favorite album title is You Can Tune a Piano, but You Can't Tuna Fish by REO Speedwagon
@@dvsreed yeah that's a good one also.
I always loved this song since I heard it in an Adam sandler movie, those were the days
B.J. you mentioned you may had heard this song in a movie, that movie just might be "Look Who's Talking" with John Travolta, Kristy Allie & Bruce Willis
I love The Who and i love Pete. Great song!! Checkout The Who's Eminence Front live from Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto from 1982. Brilliant. Pete sings on that one. EDIT: This was used in a movie. I think an Adam Sandler movie. Or maybe Paul Rudd. I just can't remember.
Dang Asia, I want some more of that!
Good song. Makes me think of the movie "Dan In Real Life", Steve Carell plays Dan a widowed dad raising 3 girls, then on a family reunion vacation at his parents, he meets a potential love interest while out buying a newspaper. Anyway he sings this song in the movie. Very touching when sings the last verse. Comedy & a bit of drama movie.
🤘😎🤘
Killer song
Pete is a groundbreaking artist. Over-amplified stage settings has taken most of his hearing 😢
I think Townshend did songs like this solo because they weren't "epic" enough for his main band, which happened to be one of the most important bands in rock history (and yet The Who has a song called "Squeeze Box", about a kid's parents' love life, so wth!).
i LOVE this song. I think I was in 7th grade, had my first real girlfriend. I was on cloud 9 listening to this song!
Give Blood next!
Basically wrote all the Who songs
If y’all really hadn’t listened to this then either you’d heard the chorus somewhere or Asia has the most amazing musical intuition ever.
Anyway, the singer in this song is supposed to be God, singing to a lost soul.
You guys have good voices, you should fo some singing
Goldbergs!
Please react to another great song of the who called "baby don't you do it" from the album Who's Next (deluxe version) believe me, you are gonna get crazy
Let's do something from the rock opera, "Tommy"
Actually about God
FACE THE FACE, GIVE BLOOD.
The song is about God.
