This series probably advertised Playtech better than any regular ad ever could.
Not really.
They never said "for those who don't know, PlayTech is a real store".
I'm sure I'm not the only person who spent all these years thinking it's a fictional store / parody of real electronics stores.
@@wariolandgoldpiramidNo, not really.
One simple google search could clear all of that, i mean at some point most people would have really searched for playtech out of curiosity. Just like me.
@@wariolandgoldpiramidit's highly in likely that NZ viewers would already know playtech is a really store. As for international viewers, it doesn't matter because y'all are not going to be buying from them either way.
It's the sort of advertising/exposure that simply cannot be bought ( at reasonable costs ).
Experienced the same thing somewhat with my own business and being carried by another YT'er with ~1.5m subs, so yes, this likely helped PlayTech a lot both directly and indirectly.
@@TheHappyfeet227 Yeah, nope. :)
I can't imagine PlayTech is very happy with the way Rowan has been managing their stores
How much money did rowan pose at playtech? 😅😢 free laptops, head phones... and byron not sending stuff 😅
@@usprulseI mean Rowan never pay his employees so win win
Depends if not paying Adam and Alan after all the pay-cuts makes up for the fact he keeps giving stock away and is paying Ellie serval hundred per hour now?
The episodes are probably used as training films of what not to do at playtec...😂🤣
Considering that Rowan basically LOST $20 to his Store by Mismanagement....I would say that PlayTech is probably VERY happy to get rid of him!! Now they can finally turn a profit!!
Your chemistry with PlayTech was so good that I honestly thought you guys actually worked there and did the series for fun and for advertising purposes. Thanks indeed to Playtech for giving you guys the grounds you needed to develop 💜
I thought they were at least partner or shareholder or their parents were the owner
thought the same, they worked primary at playtech and started making videos for fun
Wait....PlayTech is a REAL place?!??
I did not not know play tech was a real place
To be honest, I always thought PlayTech was a fictional store you guys had made up. So cool of them to let you film there all these years. Congrats on your continued growth, as well!
Yeah I had no idea either 😅
This video was a joke. Playtech is fictional, like Finland.
Same LOL
Fr. I had no clue
I always thought it was actually their store and they started the series to advertise lol
Thank you playtech for helping viva la dirt league in the bored series! We will miss ya!
E
It’s mad that I didn’t realise until now that PlayTech was actually a real store! Genuinely thought it was just a made up company for the skits. 🙈 Fair play to them for giving you a platform for your content and allowing you to grow to where you are now!
I never knew either. 😅
I found out when Techworld skits started so really recently
That is propably the case for most of the people watching.
If you did not know they were a thing, you literally have 0 reason to look it up.
Even if you want to google them, google autofills in a way that you will find the channel way before the stores 😅
Same here haha
I figured they worked there since there was actually like products stuff
TLDR: Playtech was a real store they used as a set for bored (they never worked there)
TechTown is a custom set built at their new studio to continue the bored series (complete with realistic looking fake brands)
Why? They now have a huge studio space, so they built their own set with all their own branding. This gives them ultimate freedom with the content they produce going forward and they also won't have to worry about any legal issues related to real brands, and yes, that includes potential issues with playtech if something were to go wrong.
(It seems there's some confusion in the comments so I just wanted to clarify)
Thanks for this comment! Helping other people understand 😊
@@VivaLaDirtLeague it would be better if this comment can be pinned/moved at the top.
And here I thought TechTown also real store 😅
Thank for the explanation 😊
I wonder if they can make their own store in front of the studio, sell items in the day and make skits later. They could also use the rest of the studio to make other stuff during the day
No more Corsair Hydro Series? ;)
Thank you PlayTech for letting VLDL film in your stores! They’ve brought many laughs and smiles to thousands of people!
thousands? more like millions
playtech should thank them
Millions
Millions
Millions
Man having watched this channel grow from starcraft music videos to now an entire film studio has been amazing :*)
Oh the music videos!! I still watch those,, memories!
I miss the music videos. When they made that PUBG music video about looting in the blue a couple years ago I was so happy. I’d love to see them make a comeback, even if it’s just once or twice a year as a wildcard video.
"OP Protoss Ball!"
That video was what actually led to me watching VLDL regularly.
Bust me like that is the one that made me follow them. Been a fan since then, the boys have really done a great job making the channel grow!
I think my earliest memory of VLDL was that bit they did in the forest, narrated by a David Attenborough-voice, with the males trying to attract the females. Didn't know they had music videos until very recently!
I'm actually gonna miss seeing PlayTech in these videos, but it's good to see the crew moving on to bigger and better things.
Me too, I've grown comfortable with their little, but fun set at playtech... i dont like big changes, so i'm a bit sad that they wont film at playtech anymore.. but i know bigger and better things are waiting with this decision they made; for that i'm happy for them... all the best vldl and playtech
edit : I'm asking why the new set isn't a fake playtech store. There has to be a reason.
I feel like the question is, as they move into their virtual film studio, did they need to change? did playtech want them to pay to license the name/imagery to use in their studio? cause that's be foolish they've been basically free advertising
@@Darthquackiusmost likely they just want to move to their own set
@@Darthquackius I think it was also because of the limited time they could film at playtech
@@Darthquackiusits down to filming issues. With it being an actual shop they could only film outside of the stores open hours which makes it harder for them to film.
All these years watching you guys, I didn't realize PlayTech was an actual store 😅
I'm not alone 😭 same lmao
Oh good it's not just me then. I honestly never knew. I thought it was just a set made to look like a store with a fictional name.
Same.
Same!

I was planning a trip to NZ this fall with my husband and our first priorities were to visit as many filming locations as we could. We were excited to buy some random thing at playtech that we don't need just to say we'd been there. Never thought that when that day came after talking about it for years you guys wouldn't be there anymore. Congratulations on your success guys. You all really deserve it.
Being from the US, I sorta wondered if PlayTech was an actual store or if you guys made separate sets. Good to know you guys had such a great relationship with your community.
As an American, I can feel the bitterness that lives underneath this statement. lmfao
Coming from Denmark, I was wondering the same.
Yup, living in Auckland and I've been to all three of those stores. Brought all the parts for my PCs there for the last 15 years. Never did bump into the VLDL crew but always wondered if my next visit would.
Me too
@@davidbycroft I just wonder how that conversation went all those years ago. Hey, can we film in here? Uhh, what?
Huge thanks to PlayTech for all those years allowing Viva to grow, you shall not be forgotten
They are going to be a legendary company for years to come.
Til playtech is a real company
"I will never forget you"
My favourite is when Britt comes in and both Alan and Adam are too stunned to speak.
That was also my first episode i saw in Bored series
To be fair, I have personally LIVED Rowan’s role in that bit. Maybe I didn’t quite foam at the mouth, but there was a several-minute hard reset. I said “What?” a lot, and caught heck for weeks.
I remember that episode. One of my favorites
What episode was that?? Sounds familiar but I can't remember it
@@HeavensRedemption how to talk to attractive women in retail
My favorite was always the "Free Laptop" one, and the sheer horror on Rowan's face when it clicks that he misunderstood the sale.
this is one of the frickin masterpiece of bored series.. also that reddit addiction too
Damn, I can't believe we are moving on from PlayTech. This will truly be the end of an era. And the start of an even greater one.

You guys have no idea how much this series and this channel means to me. Last year I lost both my dogs in a span of 6 months. Its like I had lost my own brother and sister. Only way I fell asleep during those dreadful nights of mourning was by binge watching this channel and leaving the playlist go on even as I closed my eyes.
Thank you for placing a smile on my face throughout my darkest days.
For a series called bored you guys managed to keep things more interesting than some tv shows lol.
Most tv shows suck, so it definitely should be better. There's a reason I'm watching Bored and not She-Hulk, lol.
@@HomestarCrawler Content on youtube can be pretty damn good, VLDL crew prime example of this. TV not super-duper interesting to me for many a year. And am ok with that.
I remember clicking on it for the first time. 15k subscribers and a title that already sounds like they film something with their phone during work breaks. 😂
Boy am i glad i kept watching them, steep quality curve 👌
Wait. Play tech is real store 😮
@@Dargonethits amazing how well they've grown. The quality of acting, equipment and sets and writing have all increased while staying as funny and interesting as when they started unlike some other channels do when they get big
Weird to feel so nostalgic for a place ive never even been in the same country as. Gonna miss it a lot, still im looking forward to what you guys can accomplish with your own set, you always impress.
i feel the same :)
Meanwhile I live 10 minutes away from it
I want to visit NZ just to go to PlayTech
Gotta give props to Playtech for allowing the brand to coexist with such a chaotic bunch of gamer creatives like you guys! Can’t imagine many companies would go for that. But I’m sure it ended up being a beneficial relationship for both parties.
Personally my favorites are the “You lick it you keep it” and “Posting yourself to Hawaii” episodes but all are priceless and it’s going to be refreshing to see Rowan go back to working with I mean for his dad 😂😂

Who else thought for the longest time that they were real employees of Playtech just having fun at the store?
I totally thought that too
I thought the store was all fake 😂
I didn't realize it was a real store for the longest time.
A LOT of people 😂
Dude I thought it was just a made up location and store name for the vids 😅
So much fond menories. Really love Ben being the bad customer in the early series and how Hamish keeps going to Playtech despite all the bad experiences he had!
The white shirt saga is one of my favourites too.
Same. I loved the White shirt saga
Byron will forever wander the old store wondering who ate his lunch rip❤
Hamish can keep him company, while he still patiently waits for his order.

Will he be in the new series? Or not
He's not alone at the old store, Ben is still living in the bathroom.
Thank you Playtech! your generosity has brought laughter to thousands. you rock!
I can't imagine how wildly surreal this must feel for both sides. It's really amazing to see and shows me that no dream is dead if you're willing to work at it. Thanks Viva.
Wow, I will definitelly miss Playtech :( Thanks for the good times to both Playtech and you guys. Although it's outrageous it's over.

My favorite is when Britt came in as a customer, and the guys froze.
Same.
That was my 1st episode
@@1981bdt Yeah I think that was the first one that got recommended to me too! But I subscribed after seeing epic NPC man episodes though
That was the first video i watched in this channel
My favourites:
The one where Rowan introduced his 'girl gamer' PC products which (surprise surprise) turned out to be massively condescending towards women, and results in Alley kneeing him in the groin.
The one when Rowan got trapped in the supply closet, and had to resort to drinking his own urine to survive. Of course it turned out he was only in there for 20 mins, and the door was a 'pull' not a push the whole time.
The one where Adam drove a motorcycle to work, and there's that UBER COOL montage of him entering the store.
Man, what an era. Thank you guys, for all the good times and fun
Hopefully you'll let PlayTech do something cool and long-term like name some of their premade gaming PCs after your characters or something! 😄

End of an era. This series has seriously meant a lot to me since I discovered it, it has been consistently such a high quality. I probably enjoyed the cookie saga the most. Looking forward to great things at Techtown.
An Epic NPC Man clip elsewhere brought me to this channel, and the first full video I watched was a Bored episode. Been subscribed ever since. Much love to PlayTech for giving the lads and channel a home for so many years.
This is the main series that caused me to start watching! Can’t wait for the new season!

I'm certain he was a customer in one skit.
Crazy how the years fly by! Can't wait to see what you guys have coming next!
The Bored series in Playtech has been an absolute pleasure to watch. Going to be hard not seeing Playtech in future episode.
Adam gets more like Adam every episode. His character appears to be exerting some mysterious influence.
I think my favorite episodes are when Ellie plays into Rowan's insanity to get pay raises and vacation days.
The bullying Hammish episodes are always a riot.
Ben bringing legal tender, particularly in coin form.

What a journey it has been, and one filled with many fond memories.
You guys have all come so far, and while it may be bittersweet to say goodbye, sometimes moving forward is for the best.
Here's to the future skits!
I was recommended this channel's other skit videos (mainly the Tarkov and PUBG ones) a few years back, and while I thought they were great I never checked out the full channel. That is until recently when I started getting recommended the Bored series and loved watching them when they came up. I got really interested when I would read comments that made references to previous episodes, hinting that this series wasn't just a normal skit series, but one with continuity and lore. *That* really intrigued me and around August of this year I decided to watch all the Bored episodes in order. I'm still not done yet, but it's really made me regret that I neglected to watch your guys' stuff earlier when it was first recommended to me years earlier. It would've been so fun to watch these come out in real time and see you guys grow in views, budget, acting skills, writing skills, everything. Seeing this video also made me wish I was there for each store switch. Nonetheless, despite not being a fan until recently, I still feel emotional about you guys leaving Playtech and moving into a space of your own.
I hope you guys keep enjoying what you're doing and keep up this absolutely amazing content. I look forward to finally catching up with this series :)
My favorite episodes of the Bored series are the first Ellie episode and the Would You Rather (Rowan throwing a knife on the floor). Good luck on your next journey
My favorite episodes were the first ones where Rowan would run away flipping everyone off 😂😂

Byron as the delivery driver when he realises he’s been throwing away customers’ orders for years is far and away my favourite Bored moment. Positively incredible amounts of awkwardness and pain in that performance.

My favorite scenes are when Rowan had the noise cancelling headphones and when Alan got obsessed with the stand up video game.
You talking about the arcade machine or something else?
@@wavemaster4891 Using the word obsessed makes me thing the arcade machine. Where Alan ended up killing Rowan, Adam, and Ellie
Just in universe theory, while Rowan was always terriible with throwing away money, Ellie helped speed up the process with her paycheck.
And Byron helped by throwing all their delivery products to the dump.
I hope we'll get some either continuation or conclusion to long-standing story arcs, such as the gold/white shirts, Rodney, etc.
And is Ben still in the bathroom at Playtech?

tbf that thing Byron wears in the robber video distorted his face so much I didn't even recognize it was Byron for the longest time
The only downside to the new set is the blurred out/fake tech logos and names. I know they don’t wanna buy a set full of merchandise but using the real store made it look more realistic (except the shooting at night when they were closed lol)
