  • Stow-Away Hotel in London Built From 26 Shipping Containers- Doone Silver Kerr Architects. In this video, we bring you The Stow-Away Hotel built from 26 repurposed shipping containers in Waterloo, London, United Kingdom. Stow-Away Hotel in Waterloo is a sustainable and eco-friendly hotel built from 26 repurposed shipping containers. This amazing piece of architecture was designed by London-based architectural Studio Doone Silver Kerr. The structure comprises of 26 shipping containers stacked 5 in a row standing at 5 stories high to offer a total of 20 "apart-hotel" rooms. The container docking ends facing the front façade have all the container cargo doors removed and the resultant spaces fitted with full height glazing for unfiltered views from the Main Street plus maximum daylighting. The openings are sun shaded with metal fins to cutoff direct solar radiation into the rooms. In addition, the projecting fins give the Stow-Away hotel a distinctive façade, making it to stand out from the street. The top of the fins are white, to match the facade, while the underside are a contrasting orange to pay homage to the industrial past of the shipping containers. The full height glazing has a white fritted overlay screens at the bottom of all the windows facing the street for privacy.

    How does the plumbing and structural support work in these types of buildings?

    • @sheltermode
      @sheltermode  5 лет назад +1

      Shipping containers are structural sound when stacked, reinforcements required when modified. Plumbing can be done under a false floor.
