at first i was super hesitant to make this bc of sizing (i’m a bigger girl and wearable crochet patterns are not big girl friendly 😭) but this seems like it might be adjustable to whatever size you are. i’m tempted to try it now!

If you're like me and you don't want huge boxy sleeves, I decreased the number of squares every other row when doing the sleeves and I think it turned out perfect!
So basically I did the first row on the arms just like in the video but then after chaining 4 for the new row I skipped a square, and then I did the same when finishing up the row to make it symmetrical. Then I make the next row like normal and there are now 2 less sqares in the sleeve which means the sleeve would be baggier at the top and then get slimmer as you go down the arm.
There may be a more elegant way to solve it, but it worked great for me! (I did use a 4mm hook though so idk how well it would work for other sizes)

    • @mycustompaintedlife502
      @mycustompaintedlife502 5 месяцев назад +1

No! That’s the perfect way to do a decrease! That’s a great idea and not having really noticed the sleeves, I’m grateful that you mentioned it. I’m going to have to check it out. That is a perfect solution for bagginess!

Changing hook sizes to change your crochet size is such a brilliant yet incredibly simple idea! My grandma didn't give me her collection of hooks in 0.5mm steps from 1mm all the way up to 6mm for nothing! After that I had to buy some for the bigger sizes. I couldn't find a 7.5mm hook so I carved one from wood. Good tip for anyone that wants to expand their collection in the bigger sizes. Get yourself a sharp pocket knife and just carve it out of a hardwood dowel. Or a dried branch if you wanna go hardcore.

hii, so i just finished making this top and thought i'd share my measurements! i typically wear a medium but i wanted a bit of a looser fit so i went for a pattern that should be able to fit a large.
i used a 4.5 mm hook. in the foundation chain, i made 86 chains in total. when i counted those chains, i decided on 17 chains in between the stitch markers, 31 chains for the bust (adjust depending on your bust size but i suggest this chain # for a larger bust), and 11 chains in between the slst and stitch markers on both sides. i made 11 rounds, and then started on the arm holes. i chained 21 (quite oversized, if that's your preference), and continued my rounds on each side until i got a total of 21 rounds for the length of the arm. after i finished both arms, i made one more row around the entire top because i wanted it to be cropped, and i was content!
i'm sorry if this was confusing, if u have any questions i'd be happy to answerr :3

hi! tysm for this because i like my clothes to be loose too :) i just wanted to know something, by "11 chains in between the slst and stitch markers on both sides", what do you mean exactly? could you add a timestamp so i know what you are talking about? thanks :)

ok this was so confusing to start but something that really helped me was literally drawing out a motif to make sure i had enough foundation chains. i also modified to add an extra chain between the treble crochets so mine wasn’t exactly like this. but it’s my first raglan attempt and this taught me so much!!

Definitely bigger girl friendly, personally I ended up using a 4.5 mm hook the whole time and made it short sleeved instead of long sleeved. I did 86 chains initially and for the arm chain I did 17. For reference last time I measured myself I have a 42 in bust and 33 in waist.

Please don’t give up! Your weekend was not wasted. Crochet is a learning curve; as annoying as it can be, sometimes you just have to go through these trials. Try again, or put it down, do something else, and come back. Don’t get mad at me, but - do a washcloth! They’re great for practicing stitches, and small enough to easily complete. Repetitive stitching will give you confidence and a completed washcloth gives you just that. Keep trying! 😊

Your pattern linked in the description is incorrect. It doesn’t show the right way to do increases. It makes it look like you skip the triples of the “v” and just do another v in the middle but that’s not true. You have to triple into all the triples of the last row or else you aren’t increasing at all, it’ll be the same count all the way around. Had to refer back to the RUclips tutorial to get it right. Thanks so much for making this pattern though! I’m making it into a dress for a swimsuit cover up and I’m so excited!

I love your tutorial. Is something I have been looking for but it was difficult to see as the back ground is same as the yarn. Can you please use a darker background for lighter yarns. Thanks

I understand the crochet stitches it’s just that my circle was twisted and I couldn’t undo it, do you know why that is? Thank you 🫶

Omg, I made it to the sleeves and it actually looks like yours so far. 😂 I surprise even myself sometimes. 😮

Hi, great tutorial but how do you make it for a larger person? Do you just use a bigger crochet hook?

If I wanted more tapered sleeves at the wrist, would decreasing the size of the hook or adding decreases be better? Thank you so much for this tutorial!

hi, i'm wondering how many chains to do at the start, to achieve a look like you have done. do you know how you measured your neckline and how it translated into the number of chains? that would be really helpful :)

sorry if its a late reply :/
for mine (not finished yet) I just chained 76 like she chained in the video and I connected it and put it over my head to see if the length was ok for me. I wanted it a little bigger so I added I think 6 to keep the number even. its just trial and error, make sure to constantly try on your projects and adjust along the way! :)

Question. What type of yarn? Cotton? Or other?

What's the method to increase the body portion after doing the sleeves? It's a little tight on my bust and I didn't realise until it was too late! Thanks

hey!! I think the easiest way would just be to use a bigger hook :)

I love it! There is some left over cotton I can use to make it. And if I put aside less chains for the arms at the beginning and then do more increases to make the sleeves fit instead, I could make the body part wider, right?

I was wondering if you could crochet the body first before the sleeves? Playing chicken with my yarn and I really don’t want to cut it
