tbh he seems so sincere at the beginning with the cake, using his manners and greeting everyone, i feel as though he genuinely felt the need to go down there and impress them and greet them and show them he turned out fine because of how vought programmed him, but him being there just made him remember all the things that happened and he couldnt contain his anger and need for revenge and just lost it. You can see it in his face, its amazing acting fr.
The working theory from the fans for what's happening with Butcher is that his tumor/cancer got V instead of him. Which could lead to a Venom like situation, which the Boys cartoon, Diabolical has shown something similar. So his tumor is protecting him when he's near death.

Sister Sage and The Deep's scene is so important for at least two motivations and I think people aren't giving it enough credit: 1) She have a blind sppt when she's under lobotomy, at least for a few hours 2) She seems to trust The Deep enough to have HIM guve her a lobotomy. How is it possible?

I will say that every scientist who experimented on Homelander got what they deserved here. Not the new ones, I mean since we don't know if they did the same to any other Supe kids recently but those old people earned their fate by torturing a kid for so many years and treating it like anotmal thing. Hell Homelander said that after he hit puberty in that room him jacking it was the ONLY time he felt anything good so his formative years were itter hell without end. I don't pity Homelander now but I am still angry at them for essentially creating this monster in the first place.
Ngl after seeing this scene, I can honestly say wholeheartly that Homelander actually earned one of the top 10 spots of greatest villians in the history of television. I told the community that even by The Boys standards, this season will be the darkest one yet and this episode exceeded the expectations by an landslide. Mans had to literally channel his inner crazy Joker to get one of the most twisted, psychotic laughs I ever heard in television. Definitely on par with Ledger's, Phoenix's and Monaghan's own style. Best episode of the Boys yet. The only time I felt chills and such utter tension with this type of crazy in Tv was when Joker told Batman the real plan of Harvey Dent back in TDK and when Walter did an hit and run on two childkillers then shot one of them in the head with no hesitation. Honestly, The Emmys are really moving the goalpost if they don't give Antony Starr the acknowledgement he deserves for playing Homelander. I for one, from Day 1 hated Homelander and I still stand on that along with the rest of the supes and I hope in the end, Butcher goes full Eren Yeager on them but even with that and with all the shit he's done, I still couldn't help but empathize with him regarding how Vought treated him. Vought is the real enemy of The Boys including the man who stood his ground to an psychopath with powers and lived, Stan Edgar. No wonder he become the man we all know him as becuase they made an monster. Even when he said that not one of the scientists stood up to Vought and said that this is wrong, I think in a sense, even with what they did, he was self-consicous with that though of wanting love and compassion and instead of showing that side of what being human means to a kid no less, instead Vought exploited that weakness to control him to be obedient and him realizing that makes me more of a threat. In other words, let the ultimate crashout event begin..... After this ep, Homelander is forever GOATED as one of the best villains of all time. And I hope I see more of Antony in other works of media as well cuz he is a master of acting.

Homelander from the start, is a literal Frankenstein of a creation. He COULD NOT be raised normally. From his birth he killed 3 doctors and a nurse, lets not even forget that he lasered his way out of his mother. There's no way on God's green earth people saw that and thought he could be raised with a normal family. No ways in hell. I'll even go as far as to assume that nobody touched him for days until they knew that they could hold him without getting harmed. Like actually picture how terrifying that must've been for everyone. Without a doubt a bad day amongst most for Vought employees....and speaking of them: you honestly think any one of them would have the gall to stop the tests without a powerful company like Vought touching them and their livelihood? We've seen what great lengths that company went to preserve their reputation and keep things like compound V under wraps. This is not to say that they could've figured out something a bit better for the man, but there's no question that this would have always ended in a calamity. The only way this ends is with Homelander dead.

Nah anyone who still wants to complain about season 4 after this, you are just trash and you have no sense of taste. We always knew Homelander was cruel and psychotic, and his childhood was always referenced here and there, but we truly got to see the layers peeled back here and get a real understanding of why HL is the way he is. These people tortured a child for the sake of the military industrial complex, and they did it with a smile, you dont side with HL, but you certainly empathise a little more. He is a regressed child in a mans body, an abused person who came to get closure which ended in ultra violence. It starts from a seed right? And these people sure as hell reaped what they sewed. This is precisely what makes Ryan different, and I think deep down He knows it, but he's too far gone to nurture that aspect and just wants an extension of himself. HL is a sympathetic villain, evil to the bone, but there it is.

Nah anyone who still wants to complain about season 4 after this, you are just trash and you have no sense of taste. We always knew Homelander was cruel and psychotic, and his childhood was always referenced here and there, but we truly got to see the layers peeled back here and get a real understanding of why HL is the way he is. These people tortured a child for the sake of the military industrial complex, and they did it with a smile, you dont side with HL, but you certainly empathise a little more. He is a regressed child in a mans body, an abused person who came to get closure which ended in ultra violence. It starts from a seed right? And these people sure as hell reaped what they sewed. This is precisely what makes Ryan different, and I think deep down He knows it, but he's too far gone to nurture that aspect and just wants an extension of himself. HL is a sympathetic villain, evil to the bone, but there it is.
