Having the same issue with my 2ds XL. Even though the problem wasn't solved, your video was still worth doing. Where did you locate the music for the video?
Do you know how to get the adhesive residue off the motherboard and the battery? Theres a really small bit there on where it touched the motherboard and I plan on replacing the battery later and want to get that patch of it off to make it easier to replace later. Any help would be very appreciated, thank you.
I really wish he figured out what was wrong with it because I’m having the exact same problem with another DS of mine. Macey and I was just watching this tutorial to figure out how to open it to take the joystick from that one because I’ve basically considered it as spare parts at this point.
How did you get the volume button to connect to board? I can never get mine volume slider to connect to the board. Can you please show on video on how to connect it back? Thanks.
I tested the parts with another N2DSXL but for me it's the top screen that caused the issue. There seems to be a bit of confusion online/forums so I'll try to explain it here. Someone on a forum said that the popping sound, followed by the device turning off is caused by a 5 part checking system. If one of the parts fail it will make the "popping" sound and turn off. The 5 part checking system seems to be false tho, since you don't need any of the cameras to work, you also don't need the Wi-Fi cable (tested that since I accidentally broke the cable). Oh and please do not follow the tutorial on RUclips made by the iFixIt channel, you will BREAK your shells!!!
@@riccardogroen6297 on single ribbon caused this, you have the one for the analog stick, and the problematic one is nearest. I unplugged this MF but the latch is not having a clip. So it gets loose forever after that.
Hey! Do you know much about these consoles? Mine will charge for about 5 seconds (red light) then goes off. Won't turn on. I'm hoping I just need a battery replacement but don't know if this is a symptom of a flat battery. I'm also wondering if you can get away with not removing that thicker back ribbon, just the ones on the sides and opening it up like a book? I don't want to create more damage but figured it's worth a try. Nintendo want £80 to fix whatever is wrong, but I can almost get a new console for that price!
I’m guessing mine had a problem with the battery touching the connector pins, because all I did was take mine apart try to take out the battery and turned it on and it worked 🤷♂️
Hey, loved the video but the link for the nintendo repair kit is broken somehow? It leads to a search on amazon but the kit itself isnt there. Would you mind updating the link please?

Hi i have a problem with my 2DS Xl. so i accidentally dropped it on a SOFT carpet and now when i want to start it the blue lamp shows up but then there is a pop sound and the blue lamp is out (sorry for my bad english). is there anyway to fix it? (i dont know if the motherboard or the upper or the lower screen got damaged) EDIT: i dropped it while it was closed and charging isnt... workin maybe because i plug it in the red lamp shos up but it stays on it (i dont remember what the charging color was because i dropped it in 2017 so yeah i would be really happy if there is any way to fix it).

Hey quick update and thank you @Feedbacker17 me and my dad figured out the issue from this video and it does have something to do with a ribbon cable and the ribbon Cable in particular is the ribbon cable that connects to the joystick turns out the thing was loose and mind you it is extremely hard to tell by just your eyes you need to have at least a pair of magnifying lenses that can strap
I'm sorry but it shouldn't be. I tested the device without connecting the ribbon cable form the joystick. I think you might've reconnected the other ribbon cables either by not knowing or while you went to reassemble the device. I tested my device without the joystick, camera's and the wifi cable. (edit) the device turned on succesfully of course.
I cannot for the life of me get it to close with the volume slider in the correct spot. Do you have any close up videos of photos of you putting one back on? Its hard to see in this video.

Usually the problem you are having occurs when you drop it and a ribbon cable comes loose (from what ive heard)
good to know
Probably some ribbon cable is not conected properly because of the fall, if not then its a problem from the battery board, I hope this helps you!
I had the same problem but I fixed it, the ribbon cable was loose and I put it back in and it worked perfectly
PS: you can replace the screws with the screws from a regular 2ds, that one has regular philips head ( + )
There is some advice on the page you get when you search Google for:
2DS XL not turning on (blue light flashes then turns off)
thanks I'll have a look

I think it’s free music from RUclips’s free library. they have a channel on RUclips.

min 5:25 the fifth one (the one that is above the joystick connector)..
Turn on console while making pressure down to that connector with your finger.

Do you have any tips for getting the ribbon cable on the back plate connected to the board? I'm struggling to get it in there with the akward angle.
Try to bend the cable so it naturally fits back in, don't snap it tho. Good luck, by far the hardest part of the whole New 2DS XL teardown lol.
@@riccardogroen6297 Thanks for the reply! I figured out that holding the 2ds open like a book made attaching it a lot easier.

probably stop
How did you create those red circles over the screws?
an effect in Final Cut Pro X I believe

take a look in the description. I put some links to tool kits

Hello! same problem here with my kid’s 2DS XL; does anyone know any solution for this? Thank you 🙏🏼
It's most likely the top screen, especially the ribbon cable from the top screen.
When I plugged mine in it stopped the clicking noice and powered on, think I got lucky tho.
oh cool! glad it worked out
Maybe it's something to do with the red and green lights that keep happening :D
we'll never know! 😝
