Brother you're one of the best in the business, if not the best...I've changed my style completely and am 100 times better maker than I ever was before...
I am fascinated by the hand tooling. I cannot imagine how many countless hours of work it took to attain that level of skill. It's crazy to me. Beautiful work man.
Never knew one can make such patterns on leather. I have seen talented people doing art work on wood, but it's my first time watching a master doing art work on leather.
I use your antiquing method And as a newbie I will tell you that it looks great On my projects. I've only been working with leather 5 months and some of my best work are due to your videos. So, thank you.
Hi Don, this is Heather and I love your videos like Sandra says they are REALLY the best. I have bought these wallet pattern from you and am making them now, I had to watch the video again to see the buck stitching. I really do enjoy that. Thanks. Blessings
Sheesh.. FINALLY someone using a "3" prong buck stitch punch .. been saying for years to the new folks .. it goes much faster and easier to pull from the leather . Priceless works of art Don thanks for sharing
Don, you have got to be one of the best video instructors for leatherworking that I have come across. Your description of each detail and why or why you don't do said technique. Thank you for that. I do know one thing for sure... You have definitely got good taste in music during this video.
Love your videos, your so amazing with showing how to videos, pretty easy to follow along or refer back to, I've already made several money clip wallets from your patterns and I'm currently making the American flag wallet, which I want to buck stitch around
I learn something new every time I watch one of your videos. Great work and excellent information. I really appreciate you taking the time to make these videos.
What can of razor knife and blade do I use to trim the edges on this video and what is the yellow stuff do u use on the edges thanks and great learning videos buddy regards from Houston Tx.
Don, many thanks for your valuable videos. I really enjoyed watching all of them, because I have learn a lot . You are on the master level of the saddlers and you have a well equipped workshop. Congratulation.
Great tutorial, I love your style, Don. I am just starting my adventure with leathercraft, maybe someday I'll be half as good as you. Thanks again for all you do.
You have been doing this way longer and better than me Don. But one suggestion. I do a fair amount of wallets of different styles. When you marked for your glue you should have run the edger over the bend much easier when flat. Just an idea if you want to try it out.
Don Thank you so much for this video. I've been machine sewing leather bags/purses for 5 yrs and over time have tried making wallets they just look unprofessional, so I just throw them in the box. I'm not a giver-up, followed you video and for the first time I'm satisfied, and over time I know I can get better. PeggyMoerbe/TurkeycreekdesignTX
Hey there Don. Excellent video you made there, can really see you have pride in your work and know what you are doing. I've been needing a new wallet and a couple of proper leather belts (shops seem to sell polyurethane 2 ply) for a few years now but I always hating changing wallets because it takes so long to get used to everything being in different places. Seeing as I'm a carpenter/jack of all by trade, probably having at least some of the tools, love to try new projects and get out of my comfort zone, i thought about making my own but I'm concerned it won't be good enough, I've never really worked with leather before. its something that will be with me all day every day for hopefully a decade or more and will be seen by many people most of all me. If i do a bad job it will be a constant reminder for many years. I'd love people to think favourably about it and comment on it and I would like to honestly say i made it years ago and its still going strong. I want to make an exact copy of the one i currently have, after watching this video I'm now wondering if kangaroo would be good for mine too, a little reminder of home :) I don't know where to start. Also, if at a last resort i had to ask someone else to make an exact copy of mine for me, who would I ask? I know a cobbler that works with leather shoes in the UK, i knew a couple of outfitters in Australia when i was there but that's it really in the leather crafting world. is there an equivalent of a tailor but specializing in leather items? Any advice would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance :)
I have learned a lot from your videos and have downloaded a number of your project patterns including this one. I appreciate you sharing your expertise and have learned a lot from watching your instructional videos. However, with this particular pattern I discovered as I was preparing to sew the interior, that the "pouches" simply aren't wide enough to hold a credit card. I cut everything exactly to your specs and am wondering if perhaps I did something wrong. Has anyone else had this problem? It seems that I'll need to do it all again but make everything a little wider this time.
Always a pleasure to view your informative videos Don. I didn't catch your needle and thread size for the CLASS 4. I just got mine delivered and am ready to start it off with this project. Thanks again Don!!! P.S. I know your thread is probably 207.
Don, I hand sew everything because I don’t have a heavy duty sewing machine. I used the double faced tape on some of my projects and found that it gummed up my pricking punches and also my sewing needles. I had to use my awl to open up the holes because the tape shut the holes. So it really wasn’t any faster than using cement.
Can you explain about best sewing machine to make all Leathercarft... and type of leather material to use belts and wallets... Thank you so much and congratulations for what to do 👍🏻
This is a Genuine question, Not a criticism. Do you reply to our questions? I didn't notice any responses in the threads. Pardon my Frank, I just don't want to talk to brick walls. YOUR TALENT IS AMAZING!
Another good one Don. Couple quick questions. Maybe I missed it, but what weight is the body? Also do you not buff your dye areas before resisting? Assuming no issues with rub off without buffing?
I bought this pattern pack and spent an afternoon trying to put it together. None of the internals were the same size and the body stretched to where it would not stitch up right and I had to scrap the project. Other than that awesome idea….
The sheepskin I have always leaves strands in the TanKote. It's also white instead of the yellow color yours has. Any suggestions/a place to order the sheepskin that you use? I've looked and can't find anybody who sells that kind/style. Thanks in advance!
Don, always enjoy watching your work. I love to Buck Stitch. One thing i keep waiting for you to say about the BS on this Video is, if you do an even amount of slits or punches, you always come on correct on where the last piece of lace goes. I always count, before i put the the last couple slits in or the counting gives you and idea, of where your gonna end, and one can prepair for the last punch. Some folks don't know, that you need an even number for the lace to end correctly.
How much would you price those wallets for? Someone in the comments asked about clicked dyes, Springfield Leather Co. makes custom dyes, I don't know how much they charge, but I have found them to be customer driven and very nice. I would tell them if your a Veteran.
This is the best background music of any leatherworking video ever!

Hey Don, I'm just starting my adventure in leather crafting, love your tutorials, hope I can do as good as you one day. Love the bifold wallets. Tina
Didn't know that trick with antiquing. I was always a little disappointed that the colors just wouldn't pop. Now I know!! Tan Kote is my friend. :)
I just started on the leatherworks. I hope one day mine look just as good as yours.
Nice job Don
WOW gorgeous! I was mesmerized by your craftsmanship. This almost made me want to switch back to a bifold wallet from a money clip.
