That is some very nice micro soldering mate! My only suggestion that would make it neater, and reduce the risk of cutting the cable while cleaning, would be to rather sand off the insulation and the first copper layer at the joint. If the gradient is slight you would have both layers exposed and less distance to cover to join up with those wires. I've personally used this technique professionally, when I last did electronic repairs more than 12 years ago.
Okay I have a few comments about this process. 1) if you reduce the size of the home button flex, how are you going to put it back on a screen if the length of it its not the same. The home button would not reach the opening on the screen. 2) The work is great and impress no doubt, however, this video does not show or proof, that it actually works. 3) Keep up the good work though.
Buy a phone where you can just buy a replacement part and it just works. Pairing a screen/mainboard/touch id? Apple doesn't want you to get your phone fixed. That's some mad skill though👍
Best comment so far! ;) Also they do these repairs in countries where time is not as valuable or with really cheap labor ... trying to do this in the US would make no economical sense paying someone $40 bucks an hour for skills like this.
@@crackedscreen9570 He may have been referring to independent repair technicians. If a person is self employed and brings in less than $40 per hour, you would soon be in financial trouble. Buying equipment, parts, paying utilities, heath insurance, city, county, federal taxes. Rent or house payment, family expenses. This repair also looks fragile, so there will be unpaid warranty work. That is likely what he means.
tbh finger print is the only thing you cant do yourself i have an iphone and littraly the easiest phone to repair samsung is full of adheisive and stuf wich makes repairs a messy and fucked job overall
Hola amigo. Impresionado con la precisión con la que trabajas. Se me rompió esa pieza cambiando la pantalla de un iPhone 7. Tu podrías reparar el botón home.
Wouldn't it be easier to just take the IC chip that is on the flex cable and transfer it over to a different cable with the home button already installed?
You used to be a neurosurgeon, right? That's insane that with the scope zoomed in gives the idea that it is easy for anyone to try this. But I have seen that button up close before. You're connecting strands of hair together if not smaller.
the reason the home button are going bad is a combination of people dropping their iphone and also a BGA chip mounted to a flex cable using lead free solder. I will predict that eventually all iphone 7 and 8 will go bad. I have sent a few to ebay repair shops and they always come back working. I have unsuccessfully tried the U2 chip replacement. I have taken 6 to Apple to replace the entire display for $149. There is also a variable; the flex in the display can also go bad.
Seriously, if that works its a miracle, ive tried maybe 4-5 buttons and never managed to get a single one working, and my equipment and skills are about as good as it gets, how did he manage to get the pins on the other side of the board, that seems to be missing from the video, id love to know how.
Bill A how so? Touch ID is essential for a phone to some customer, this is perhaps a 200$ job that the technician will charge the customer, how is this a waste a time.
Muy difícil. He intentado hacerlo y es muy difícil. He conseguido hacerlo pero al momento de soldar las pistas finas se destrozaron quizás por exceso de temperatura en el cautin.

If they repair the phone like this, better sell it after.. Why? Do you think the phone will not get damage again? After they done this, and gets damage again. They will have no room for another repair.
No it is not gonna get damaged again unless you open the phone and cut the flex cable because that's what caused the damage in the first place most probably upon a screen replacement.
Rajesh Dhanda yes is available however it wont work each iphone comes with one home Botton programed to it. if you accidentally ripped it you can say bye to the phone
Витал Белов hi, there isnt any back side tracks. Its just a few tracks in the middle with insulation on both side. The track in the middle. Just like a wire.
This looks harder than brain surgery

Excellent job, bro u have a hell lot of patience,
Hands down. Unbelievable soldering skills.
I seen him solder only three leads, is that just to make sure the connection is made? Or can the solder that he did along the part enough?
Do you offer this as a service? Unbelievable precision-well done!! I would love to send you mine!!

Soldering this IC is already complicated, over a flex cable is even worst

That's an amazing solution! Much easier than anything I've ever found!
I wonder how many he had sliced trying to scrape to make this video lol great work 👍👍
it is actually manageable if you have a microscope
Not too many ide say!! Sharp knife and a good microscope and its surprisingly easy!

Alguien sabe ¿Qué marca de soldadura liquida usa en esta reparación?
Utilizas un bisturí? O que empleas para pelar el flex
