He wouldn't have to worry about corona, but in a few generations his descendants would have to worry about bubonic plague....again and again and again.
Very interesting how the king and nomarchs of ancient Egypt would tax the farmers every two years, similar to how William taxed the farmers in England... Seems like feudalism wasn't something that started in England.
This is a good video, your examples are very thorough and creative. Just to keep in mind though, William the Conqueror did not create the feudal system - it had been around for hundreds of years prior to this. Also the first castles during William's reign were actually wooden - stone castles didn't happen until later. Again, though a really explanative video.
Add to this very day Norman last names can be found in disproportionate numbers from Eton to Oxbridge educational establishments and also disproportionately represented in both the House of lords and the House of commons.
It's interesting that in America the terminology is very similar a thousand years later: Tenants-in-chief = Tenants in common Under-tenants = Sublease Lord of the land = Landlord Labour service = Human capital Forfeiture = Foreclosure Agenda 21 brought me here.
The peasants nicknamed it that as it was a biblical reference to judgement day or “doomsday” (the day the world ends - not pleasant) , basically, they were not a fan of being taxed more
hey click view thx for your video but my friend Candice died i got new today she died of a stoke and i do not know possibility if you can reply bc she would tell me about all your vids and i thought to come back to re watch your vids :(
Notice that the top knight was Breton. This was true. Yay! He was actually William’s most valuable baron, too: Alan Rufus. He founded Parliament in 1089 and possibly the civil service. Domesday was his idea and he used it to argue for a progressive tax system! The barons soon rebelled, but Alan had trained the English Fyrd to beat them!
That’s Alan Rufus kneeling at 10:28. This event was at York in early 1069 when Earls Edwin and Morcar forfeited their northern lands for rebelling and Queen Matilda persuaded William to grant them to Alan. What the video understates here is that Alan had William surrounded by Breton knights. Subtle! Alan also paid for William’s bodyguard. Hmm. Alan got much of his money from North Sea and cross-Channel trade, so he built markets and great ports to increase it.
Your getting too the crux of the real history now ...let's just say you may not want to believe the speculated answer to your question ....and I say speculative.. because the truth could sound stranger than fiction ...and one persons truth is another person lie ....so start researching for yourself and draw your own conclusion ...I am no here to imprint my ideas on other ...only to support you to find your truth ...and stand by it without impressing it on others ...each man stands alone in his truth ..
@@devogrant2817 Maybe I inadvertantly answered my own question: Before the advent of feudalism the ancient Roman socio-economic system was the organising structural force. I was wondering how society gradually and incrementally evolved as Roman authority gradually dissipated. The first elemental factor is a post apocalyptic society: As authorative force and social structure withered roads, water transport infrastucture, trade goods and commodities inter-connective regional transport became inoperable and/or deserted, adverse environmental climatic change, pestilence, infectious diseases all became characteristic of a decaying social and economic structure. Secondly, the analogy of prison gangs is useful. Suppose an individual finds himself/herself incarcerated. No matter how many push-ups, weight training, or other calistetic exercise the person does the person cannot possibly defend against 10-30 other indivuduals at once simultaneously. Therefore the individual must join a specific gang to exert mutual defensive/offensive force as appropriately necessary for survival and/or superior control positioning relative to other mutual defense alliances. Same thing with the early Middle Ages: You had to join a collaborative group of individuals led by a feudal lord, strong man, or other caudillo figure in order to survive in a chaotic post apocalyptic society!!!
Also, the Catholic Church was instrumental in reorganising society and providing refuge to individuals who found themselves in overwhelming situational cicumstantial conditions.

Correction:
Serfs and Peasants were completely separate classes, serfs were tied to the land and could not leave where as peasants were entirely free.
If we do that categorization today, how the power chain is structured?

Why would the king own so much land in the first place. What on earth gave them the right to do so?
