How to get started with Internet Computer ($ICP)

- Hello crypto tourists! Today we're jumping in to ICP, the internet computer. If you have no experience in crypto, this will show you how to get started with Internet Computer and how to set up your crypto wallet.
ICP uses and Internet Identity which also functions as your crypto wallet so we'll set one of those up too. The DApps in ICP are very different from what you would find in most blockchains, so I think it's worth taking a tour of the ICP ecosystem.

Came here from Openchat. I loved the Windoge98 shout out.
I think Windoge 98 and OpenChat might be the door to bring in new users into crypto.
The team didn’t dump, they locked up their tokens for eight years. It was the early venture seed investors that dumped after sbf and ftx manipulated the price.

The tech they are building is decades ahead of what other projects are currently doing.

Man, this is a great crypto project. All I've ever heard was the team dumped on everyone and I'm glad you did this and the interview with the founders. I was able to get in on the recent dip to 9.5. Way higher then I would have liked but I think it'll definitely perform well
Thanks for subbing 2+ years! Any time a new project is released, token supply and unlocks aren't favorable to new investors. ICP just happened to launch TOO high so there was a drastic drop.
I think it's good tech, but the onboarding process definitely needs improvement.

Absolutely amazing ecosystem. If a 1 minute finalization for token swapping is the only friendly user lacking experience then I’m okay with it.
True, many chains are already competing for the serious defi users. No one is making anything for the regular person.
Also a defi subnet and a evm L2 built on ICP called Bitfinity are both being built to solve the 1mim swapping issue. Bitfinity main net should be here in a few weeks

Could you do a video on getting API's for ICP nns wallet. Also API's for sonic and ICP wallet swaps? I'm having trouble finding out how to do this and am exhausted manually inputting these transactions for tax purposes. Thanks so much for your in depth videos.
Thanks, but I try to keep the content open for a broad audience to learn things in crypto. If you're looking for answers, I'd jump into one of the ICP forums or groups on OpenChat or DSCVR.
Wild to think that web 3 is overwhelmingly not going to be defi and degen based, most likely going to be used similar to web 2 and regular, non investmen/finance focused people wont rly notice much diff

As much as I see the strengths in ICP my question remains : who really want the centralisation of all their details and activities?? Remember what happened to the rest of the world during covid when everyone relied on the centralisation of their goods, aka China.
I think of it more like: Would you like to have one login for all apps?
As for centralization, it's a long explanation but the founder explained how it all works. Pretty technical and over my head so I'm always open to hearing points that counter it.

uhmm, I don´t have any loggin key on my computer and I don´t want to link my blockchain identity to my personal identity (IP, phone, etc.), so I can´t create an ICP identity. What a shitty and horrible way to create a password. Just give me a set of secret words and that´s it. This process is shady as fuck
