This is a huge throwback to the mid 90s arcade gun games. Just wonderful fun and clunky movement, but that is 100% what makes it work with Robocop.
There's nothing great in clunky movement and this game only look clunky with the atrocious frame rate. Everything else looks well made

The gunplay looks pretty solid, but I like that the game will have some "quiet time" where you do the Cop side of RoboCop with the crime scene investigation stuff.

Sniping is when you shoot someone from far away. Robo just walks up and shoots people right in the face.
@@ZylonBane check out robocop 2 when he shoots through the scope of a guy's sniper rifle from far away and the bullet hits him in the eye. Robo can also snipe.

Not that accurate. 3 mods needs to come ASAP. More scanlines and grain effect, louder and better stepping sounds, and more size to the magazine so you see less reloading. I also noticed the game lacks Robocop's energy battery humming sound effect, like in the first movie. If they had done this the game would be better for my old ass.

Have to say I'm a little surprised. This looks a lot of fun. I really don't care how slow you move. It's Robocop. The original film is one of my favourite movies.

Honestly this just looks like a check your brain at the door and have a good time kinda game, which I'm ALL about. Not every game needs to be some genre redefining, triple A masterpiece. Sometimes you just wanna play a game solely for the fun factor, games like Maneater for example.

If the price point is on the lower end you're right. If it's a 60+ game then it's woefully lacking with the gameplay loop they are showing. It's essentially a rail shooter.

@@demiurgeobzen327 Time will tell but based on most modern releases this might be the entire game. Maybe mods can change it down the line if it is. From what the video shows so far it's a lot of the same generic enemies that stand in place while shooting. I'm hoping to be wrong.
@hinro Haha yea man it does look a bit on the repetitive side, especially from the enemy type. But I think I did read somewhere that enemies become more advance as time goes on, ED-209 boss fight perhaps?? But there are RPG elements in the game so that's an indicator that there will be different, more advanced enemy types.
I love the little whistling sound that the explosive tank makes when you shoot as it flies around and I also like how it homes into an enemy instead of just being random. Very fitting of this game. Doesn't look like a game of the year contender, but looks like it could be a fun game to play and beat once.
Game looks really great visually and I love the slow movement. Very different from what all other shooters are doing right now. It is all about fluid fast movement with high mobility. Robocop is just like nah, I AM GOING TO SLOWLY WALK AFTER YOU. Actually terrifying lol
I only hope you get the proper feeling of Robocop being armoured to the teeth.
@@squelchotron8259 Looks to be so. The first firefights you see Robocop's health bar barely drops. So it looks to be spot on for how many bullets his armor takes before failing.

I grew up with Robo and Terminator, this is right up my alley. Gonna preorder for sure, their last game (Terminator) was pretty good after all. Loving the vibes of this new Robocop game, they hit the nail on the head for sure.

So many games get announced that look good, people pre-order, it comes out broken and unfinished, game is abandoned and the cycle repeats.
I just don't trust game companies anymore, I've seen people pre-order and then get disappointed when the game comes out. I don't know anything about this studio so I dont know if it will be bad or good

I love how everything looks and sounds so far. I'd also pay good money for a one liner button. "Dead or alive you're coming with me" It'd be so cool.

It seems true to the movies in the first few minutes, and I was thinking to myself, "If this is what they got now, I am probably gonna have to buy it sooner or later.
So, if this is the how the game is gonna feel ... like I am the danger... rather than having to feel like everyone else is, then, we are good to go.
Even Doom 2016/Eternal make me feel like I am not the danger periodically. Comparaively, these punks were backing up and shooting at Robocop like they are scared, panicking, and don't know what to do while shooting... thinking... "Nothing is working. What do we do!?" Demons in 2016/Eternal keep challenging my butt and don't run away from me begging for mercy except the Revenant in the SSG section in Eternal. People shit talk Doomguy to his face and still act all defiant to the end, thinking, what? They'll win? Pfffft. He is supposed to be the boogeyman for hell itself. Robocop feels like the boogeyman in this scenario. Dredd should, too. Serious.
God this looks good! Im not expecting a AAA game. The studio did great with Terminator Resistance. I really enjoyed that so this looks brilliant. Love the voice, the footsteps, the guns and the UI. The studio really pays homage to Robocop. You've got a sale!

I can already see the amount of criticism this game is going to get from reviewers but honestly im pretty hyped for it! Huge Robocop fan and the fact that we're actually getting a game in this era is just amazing to me. Hoping we get some cool backstory about OCP and or his family something to tie it to the movies' timeline. Either way sign me up 🤖

Love the investigation and interrogation part of the gameplay, which shows how he is a COP. that part was very little in movies! now as side missions we have a lot and this part of the gameplay also, fits with his slow movements. looks perfect. 👏👏

indeed. the NPC faces and expressions need a lot more work. They're supposed to be people after all, humans.
Robocop's, however, is fine. It's Robo after all...
The NPC reactions on the streets when they Robocop should be more realistic too. They wouldn't just ignore Robocop as he pass by, they'd look awed, intimidated even, and really back off to give the big guy space.

Indeed. I guess I'm too old-fashioned because I thought this would be a game for an arcade, with a pistol controller. But these days it's more like VR.
VR is dead and useless, most of people can't even afford it, VR isn't something new and exciting and world breaking its honestly a failure selected for chosen few with a lot of money, the less games they make with VR the better.

It looks pretty good. There's a number of small touches I would add (raising the firearm up when not engaging enemies. Not being so 'snappy' on things like melee attacks, part of the thing about Robocop is he isn't fast but he is powerful and so instant punches are just out of place). Adding fear elements, AI barks, other things to show the criminals aren't mindless drones to gun down, and to add a bit of variety; some people are gonna throw their gun down and surrender and if they do but you shoot anyway, well, yeah... I know Robocop's dance-like gunplay doesn't translate well into 1st person without VR, but it feels very...unrobocop? to not have it.
Yeah, Robocop definitely did have some beautiful shooting techniques despite his robotic limitations. He had some finesse and grace to him. I don't see that translating to this first-person game.
@@GetToDaChoppa-k5r I mean they could always implement a special skill that charges up after awhile that makes him do his classic style of 'gunkata' he had in the movie that works like the dead-eye skill from Red Dead Redemption 2, and just have it play some third person animation of him doing it before snapping back into first person mode. They could also easily implement the ricochet shots that he can do via another skill you can unlock, and make that go into a Fallout-style V.A.T.S. screen.
The investigations look a lot more fun than the combat, I hope there's a lot of those.

It reminds me of the Terminator Resistance game with its graphics style, I think it will be a really good Robocop game (finally)!!

They could've balanced the action with some more thorough detective work to make the combat more meaningful and satisfying, but I can say that I'm genuinely impressed how accurate and fateful is as is.
They don't and haven't made them like this. :P

Graphics is not triple A but decent enough to be a good game. The gameplay? HELL YEAH! This looks just like the kind of fun that I want. The blood splash really adds to the atmosphere. It shows how powerful his firearms are. Head and body need to explode when hit by powerful bullets or explosions tho. Still, I'm buying this.

Reminds me of Alien Isolation, I love this new series of games that make you live an entire 80's movie as the main character, and in a coherent manner, back in the day we didn't have the technology to pull this up,now we do, we just need a good T2 game and I can die happy.

I used to spend a few weeks every summer with my aunt and grandparents down in NYC, and Staten Island. My aunt would always take me to The local ice cream store that was next to a Blockbuster and we would always rent the 80s and 90s action movies and just binge them, despite my parents telling her not to let me watch them because they were too violent lol. All the Robocop movies, lethal weapons, die hards, police academies etc. Just great memories, so Robocop was a huge part of my life. This game looks like a love letter to that, I can't wait!

This is going to be a trip down memory lane. I’m curious to see how the difficulty will adjust because the default enemies don’t pose a real threat at all.
Unless the main storyline involves a mafia that stole tech enabling them to create cyber villains (Cyberpunk style ones).
I would assume enemies will get better weapons and you'll fight other android types ,these seem like early level enemies,plus got to have a few good boss fights

They fucking nailed Terminator: Resistance. That game, expanded (it was basically a knock-off of Fallout), only in the Robocop universe would be epic. They wrote a love letter to Terminator fans with that game, so here's hoping Robocop fans get the same, or more.

I think a good idea to shake up the shooting would be to incentivize not shooting directly at an enemy. Like shooting his gun or doing a light injury to a non vital spot of the body. Maybe environmental damage.
That said, features like this would take time and money on the devs part to make that and it seems like they’re too far in to make crazy changes like that
No, but you're absolutely 100% correct. The onus is on THEM to make these kinds of details into the game. Everyone is so drunk and blinded by nostalgia to see how basic af this game is. You cant run, you cant duck. You HAVE to take damage, and there are enemies who mow you down with turrets. But there's nowhere to go but to walk backwards out of the room. Yea, those ED-209 boss battles are going to be really fun.
That would be a great detail. One I thought of while watching this video is there should be a way to reduce recoil on guns since he always held his firearm fairly still while shooting one handed. The enemy guns look like they kick pretty hard for a dude in a machine body.
"Detain for interrogation" marks on certain targets maybe-something like the bounty system from sw bounty hunter. I feel playing up the investigation angle would help it from being too brainless-maybe collecting clues, witness statements and collars could help you solve the greater crime beyond what is happening.

This looks great and as fan of the franchise i'm truly happy that my girl Lewis is in there, truly an underrated movie heroine.

This is exactly the type of game I've been looking for. Call of Duty with futuristic Terminator style overlays and cop story.
Graphics are looking on point mostly, but it definitely needs more character models for gang members some looking too much alike and I think the AI for their actions needs to be adjusted somewhat so they are not just blindly walking into gunfire all the time. The music is sounding good and it is always going to be hard to replicate Basil Poledouris who was brilliant everytime he did a soundtrack especially anything with Paul Verhoeven, also liking the voices for Lewis and obviously Murphy I like all the questioning and clue finding stuff as well a bit like some of the Batman Arkham games or L.A. Noire. Some have already mentioned I think Robo's Auto 9 needs work on how it sounds and his walking noises although those don't sound all that bad but the Auto 9 sound definitely needs working on. Would also be even more awesome giving Robo some more moves maybe even new stuff that wasn't in the films and build his character more after all that is who the game is about, sort of like the way the Batman games did, I doubt that is going to happen though, this is looking fairly good overall and it doesn't release until September so I do think there will be more work put into it, will keep an eye on how it turns out for sure.
They are amateur, punks, drug addicts with no military or self-defense training so what do you expect? Them taking cover tactically and radio each other saying "Bravo six going dark" or something?

@@garudanathanael5257Late in the game fighting professional mercs they could use actual tactics. Setting ambushes, flanking, using defensive terrain... requiring you to fight smarter. Robocop is essentially a walking tank, with all the advantages and disadvantages of that.

They should include the sound byte to how his gun sounds from the first two movies to the game. Gotta include those small details to have the true Robocop experience.
Part of me wants that whenever you look around, the sound of his head moving would be present, but I imagine it would be a lot of noise 😅
This game needs a retro filter so it looks exactly like his point of view, with options to toggle it on an off like the Terminator vision for Infiltrator Mode.
Auto-dialog needs a LOT of work, and the enemy AI may to be adjusted but this looks fun as hell.
Yeah, enemies just standing in front of you, not protecting themselves, not using covers, and shooting seems clunky. I have a bad feeling about this.

It has to be switchable between first person and third person, we need to see the whole Robocop fighting!
When this game was first announced my biggest fear was that it was going to be just another FPS, I even had some discussions with other people online how first person is the best way to put RoboCop but my thing is why you take such an iconic character and just make them a gun and a floating hand. The biggest push back I got was RoboCop has a lot of different visor modes and first-person will be easiest way to make that more of a gameplay feature and my fears came true. He's just a floating hand in a gun

As a little girl it was my dream to be Robocop. He was the baddest mfer on the planet to me. I am so excited about this game, I really needed this cause 2023 has sucked.

Is it gonna be the greatest game in the world? Probably not lol Im gonna play the hell out of it anyway though. Only thing that bothers me about it is the auto 9 sound but I'm guessing it's a little too late in development for that to be changed.

You can play Urban Chaos in 4k with 60 fps, with PCSX2 emulator on PC, i playing PS2 games in wide screen in 4k with 60 fps and 16x anti alising and FXA, ohh man, the games became great a true remaster.
I want a remake with realistic graphics and animations. i mentioned this game because it's another game about Cops that you can count on your fingers. it was a first-class game in its time, it's strange that they don't remember it, i put this game higher than BLACK in my rating...
That game was developed by Rocksteady. That game still looks decent today
The game clearly needs some work, but I gave it a like because someone's trying to make a RoboCop game.
I love how they play the original theme song to the first movie in the game. That soundtrack was epic.
The walk of robocop reminds me the sound of Amiga reading data from a floppy disk :-)
I'm excited for more robocop goodness, so I will reserve judgement until a final product is in my hands, but I will say that if this IS the final product, I'm worried. They'll fix you, they fix everything.
What's odd is how "normally" everyone else reacts to Robocop. Nobody is shocked, surprised, amazed or anything else. Everyone deals with Robocop as if he were a normal guy. Including the criminals, who all pounce on him without regard for their own well-being. - I'm not sold yet.
After playing Fallout 4 and 76, where your average raider with a tire iron will happily charge someone in power armour, the whole "disregard for personal wellbeing" thing doesn't even register to me. 😂

They need to make your primary weapon customizable (different firerates/ ammo types etc - maybe something similar to Judge Dredd's pistol) and they need to add a feature (like a skill guage - that if full) that lets you head shot all the enemies infront of you (kinda like McCree from Overwatch)

The facial animation isn’t great, and the gameplay looks VERY repetitive at this stage, but I gotta say… this is exactly what a Robocop game should be. It’s very accurate. You can tell the team loves themselves some Robocop and that’s pretty Rad. Much love and can’t wait to see the final product!
At this stage, it looks promising….I’m not hyped at all. The gun play aren’t too bad…but it believe I’ll be preoccupied with Baldur’s Gate 3 & Spiderman 2 for this autumn….maybe a later purchase
4:24 : I can't tell if Murphy telling the hobo to "sleep tight" is just him being sarcastic, or if it's just Good Cop Alex Murphy genuinely wishing a harmless citizen to recover from his mean hangover (and hopefully think about his life choices when he wakes up).
The fact that they didn't force you to shoot the poor drunk bastard speaks well for the game overall, and I agree with both of your speculations.
Reminds me a little bit the 90's FPS games.
