      Also, you can get rid of that contraband by selling it to the Trade Authority. You just need to go find one in a system that won't scan you when you approach. The best place for this in the early game is a station in the Wolf system.

As far as the ship's go registering a shift means that you can then sell or customize it, you can still use the shift perfectly. Fine. Otherwise, no one has any problems with you going to port or anything. It's just until it's registered. You can't sell or customize it in any way.

Now i lost everything in the cargo bay trying to test this from a bug so i just recommend touching down at a nearby city when you get a new ship. from there the ship should always be available until you sell it.
      Theres a couple things i havent done or tried yet. i hear some people say you can customize an unregistered ship if you are at either the crimson fleet yard or at your own personal outpost with the huge landing pad.

    Considering you found a Calibrated weapon, there is something the game never explains:
    Every piece of weapon and armor has different tiers, denoted by different prefixes: It goes from no prefix, to Calibrated, Refined, Advanced and Superior (spacesuits only). A higher tier basically means higher base stats. This means a Refined weapon is always better than a Calibrated one of the same kind.
    And most of the time, even a legendary weapon of a lower tier will be inferior to a higher tier one without any legendary effects. And unfortunately there is no way to upgrade tiers.
    Also, every unique weapon sold in shops is always of basic tier, meaning as soon as calibrated weapons start spawning, they become utterly useless.
    Weapon drops depend on which level the killed enemy was, so most level 10 or 20+ enemies will start dropping calibrated weapons and higher levels higher tiers.
    Shops start selling higher tier weapons as well as you level up.
    Chests I think depend on the planet level.
    TL;DR If you find Calibrated/Refined/Advanced weapons, use them. Chances are they are better than anything you have right now.
    Same with Spacesuits, though sometimes lower tier suits might actually have better defenses depending on the kind of suit it is.

    • @ViralMag_Ravager
      @ViralMag_Ravager Год назад +1

      There is a way to upgrade item tiers it just depends how you feel about using console commands, but in game by default yes. Reasonably certain they did that because items drop so frequently even legendaries on Hard/Very Hard difficulty it's easier to swap to a new shiny weapon you just found than having an upgrade system where you make your "perfect weapon" then just ignore all new items except as sellable loot.

    One of the best ways I've found to make credits is to sign up for the Freestar Rangers, and just spam out the mission board with the radiant quests. After you do a certain number a special quests pops up for a big bounty, that plus the kill quests have you racking up a large number of weapons to sell as well. To the point where I have to take breaks from doing that, or sleep, just to sell off all the items you end up stacking up. I've stacked up millions of credits in a single game.
    Edit: I do love the Kid's Stuff trait, as them showing up where you work, and the dad giving you a weapon he sighted in himself to keep you safe, it reminded me of my own father who passed away, and it hit really close to home. I was not emotionally prepared for it, but I'm glad it happened.

    The ship you nicked has some shielded storage, meaning you can use it to try and smuggle contraband as shielded storage has a chance to evade a scan.
    Illegal contraband can be sold (among others) to NPCs belonging to the Trade Authority faction (however, it can not be sold to Trade Authority vendor kiosks).

    with shielded cargo you can hide the contraband but it has to be in the cargo bay and not in your inventory or a random container in the ship, you can sell contraband to the trade authority but only to an actual person not the kiosk, the wolf system doesn't check for contraband when you jump to it and there's a station there with a trade authority clerk, also if you get caught with contraband they'll confiscate it and you need to pay a fine but you can steal the contraband right out of the jails' evidence chest and probably still make some profit.

    Jon hopefully ou noticed the shielded cargo your new ship has. Putting the contraband in the ship gives it a chance to evade detection from scans, if you keep it on your person, you will be detected by any scan. There are locations to unload contraband without a scan, but if you don't want spoilers, using your shielded cargo bay to get it to merchants to sell is your best bet

    The easiest and quickest place to get rid of illegal contraband is at The Den in the Wolf system. The starstation has a trade authority representative where you can sell contraband without getting scanned. Note: contraband can be sold at the trade authority representatives but NOT at the trade authority self-service computers.

  • @Osma777
    @Osma777 Год назад

    There are four ways to deal with contraband.
    One: throw it on the ground and leave it behind. (Worse choice.)
    Two: embrace your inner Ole English smuggler. Much like a smuggler who would sail his ship into harbor while having a rowboat hide the illegal goods, you can bypass the scan by landing outside the city before the scan finishes. Then once the scan is over, land again at the same place and pick it back up. (Slowest choice).
    Three: The ship you stole from the Crimson has "shielded cargo". If you empty out enough weight to stuff the artwork into the hold, there is a % chance to not be scanned. Save-scum as needed. (Weight issues choice).
    Four: Look for a star near Sol called Wolf. The starstation there has a Trade Authority shop, but there is no fleet scanning anyone that comes in, making it the de-facto smugglers port. (Best Choice)
    Ironically, the whole "drop onto the planet and pick it up after scan" was seen on launch day to be a "bug" or poorly designed feature, when it is actually WORKING AS INTENDED. There is a quest on Mars where the ship technician literally states "the guy was acting like he was smuggling, but smugglers don't normally land at the starport, the land just outside of it."

    Your new ship has shielded cargo so you could empty your cargo out and put the contraband in there. You'll have a chance to pass the Contraband check so you can smuggle the Contraband into a city. Don't worry about overencumbrance , it will eventually hurt you if you don't take a breather, but cannot kill you.
    OR you can fly your ship to the Wolf System near Sol and Alpha Centari. From there you can fly to the Den without a Contraband check and then go to the Trade Authority and sell the Contraband there. (It has to be a Trade Authority person, not the kiosks at every port).
