Ao Oni is a horror game made from RPGMaker XP. The Main character, Hiroshi, and his three other friends,Takuro, Takeshi and Mika, decided to visit an abandoned mansion that is rumoured to be haunted, and there is a monster in there.

About Ao Oni: Ao Oni (Blue Demon) is a monster that lives in the outskirts of Japan inside a haunted mansion. The crew, Hiroshi, Takeshi, Mika, Takuro, and Anna heard rumours of the place being haunted but didn’t believe it. When they entered it, they were all doomed and had to escape and figure out the secrets of Ao Oni.
Ao Oni’s powers:
- Thermal Vision
- When he eats people and swallows them, he can disguise as humans.
There are other monsters that live in the mansion like the Speedy Oni and Squatto, but there are plenty more not seen in action. We don’t really know much about the secrets of ao Oni and how it was created. There’s a little thing about who ao Oni is.

what I’d guess is the cause is that there’s been a considerable rise lately in the people making fun of YandereDev, and his face is frequently compared to the monsters in Ao Oni. It could also just be nostalgia lol. I came back to rewatch some Ao Oni videos as a result of the combination of the two

I've never heard of Yandere Dev and how it's associated to Ao Oni.
I discovered this game 9 years ago when I was only 9, and I had a lot of fun back then despite this being nightmare fuel for me.
