  • This video demonstrates the operation of a Siemens actuator controlled by a 0-10VDC signal. An actuator controls the position of a water valve or an air damper in an HVAC system. This actuator provides feedback of its real-time position with another 0-10VDC signal that we can read with a voltmeter or a BAS analog input. This feedback signal provides proof to the controller that the actuator is functioning properly, obeying commands, and the signal can be used as a position readout on the user interface.
I wish to express my appreciation to the Energy Management Department at the Owens Campus of Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown, Delaware for their support and for the use of their equipment and space.

    Thanks good video 👍
Clever use of a common return line for both the AC Supply and the DC control to minimise wires on this wiring scheme

Please clarify is it OK looping these 24VAC common and 0-10V DC common points together? I am going to connect the control signal and Feedback signal to a PLC. ie. the common wires from my PLC Analog input card (feedback) and Analog Output card will be looped to this 24VAC common.

What is the brand of the DC voltage generator?

Unfortunately, I cannot remember the manufacturer of the DC power supply. I borrowed it for the video from the school's Electronics Department.
