Lawsuit threatened over Oakland airport rebranding

San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu on Monday fired off a letter to the Port of Oakland Commission, threatening legal action if the port persisted in its plan to change the name of Oakland's airport to "San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport.

If you're dumb enough to want to go to Oakland, or just unfortunate enough to HAVE TO go to Oakland, you probably already know where it is, i.e., across the bay from San Francisco.

Out of state parents and loved ones routinely confuse UCSF, SFSU, and USF. Out of towners will def fly into the wrong airport. Then get stuck around the dangerous hegenberger area. Trying to find their way to the Peninsula. Stop spending money trying to trick people into going to Oakland. Use that effort and money to actually clean up the city instead.

What stupid poll showed any majority support for the proposed name change? Most locals have said don't change the airport's name. Adding more words doesn't clarify anything. There's nothing more clear than just starting with the word Oakland. If they want SF in the name, then call it = Oakland International Airport in San Francisco Bay. Although Alameda City Airport would be more accurate.
