That's exactly how my pa taught me WBB. Note for note.
Died laughing. 😂😂😂
Insane, clearly they’re both aliens. Julian’s mastery of the instrument is mind boggling and Cooter musicality is really top notch
LSD before breakfast?
You nailed it.
Like at 4:00 am, between first and second sleep? we used to do that as kids. Now i'm old and severely brain damaged.
If one is to the point of needing whiskey before breakfast. It can feel like lsd. A bad trip
2:45 Love what comes before but what a great performance after this mark.
Thank you. I got tired of listening to scale practice
This is nothing short of incredible. Well done, fellas. Fantastic song performed brilliantly.
i saw them live..up close personal..fantastic
The way these guys know the neck of the guitar is astounding! Love it!
That's is what it is all about. Having fun!
Two guitars, two players... grrreat music! Nice watching. Thank you for uploading
This was highly enjoyed! Thanks!
absolutely stunning!
Leo Brouwer esque ... dig it
Coryell+Catherine
Awesome
Totally getting those vibes :D
Incredible playing and communicating between these two....
Holy fu*k that was incredible!!!!!!!
that dissonant intro by julian... jesus christ... that must've been some good whiskey
Or really bad.....
Yet Chris was able to jump in and join the cacophony - never get sick of watching these two play together.
Hahhaha
That's what the thoughts in your mind sound like before deciding on whiskey for breakfast
What interplay!!!! Amazing!!!
Sensational, love these people!
Masters of melody.
This is SO AWESOME!!!
Obrigada Dani Iunes por me indicar Julian Lage! Agora vejo a semelhança entre vocês, me dá dor ao pensar que vc não está mais aqui para crescer tanto quanto ele. Enfim, QUE HOMÃO DA PORRA.
I don’t know what that means exactly, but I’m pretty sure I wholeheartedly agree with the ALLCAPS portion.
the beginning sounds more like whiskey after breakfast 🤣
Dieser Dialog ist wunderbar!!! 🤠😳
What a great blessing.
Amazing!
The song that I dream about playing is almost too simple for them...
Wow! Mesmerizing!
Bravo, virtuoso!
Some things are better left unmolested.
I want someone to look at me the way lage looks at chris.
That's easy! Just learn how to play guitar like Chris, haha
You should watch “someday my prince will come” with Martin Taylor.
This is the third comment that I laughed out loud at.
Lage's into reminds me of "the dangerous kitchen" from frank zappa
amazing mind blown!👌
Masterful
Before the 2:45 mark it’s just two extremely advanced musicians trying to be dissonant on purpose. Sort of meant to sound so bad it’s good. 99% of people on this planet don’t understand it, I sure as hell don’t. First part is for the extreme music nerds (which they are) the second half after 2:45 is for the rest of us and holy shit was it one of the most beautiful acoustic performances I’ve ever seen
Nah man, if you aren't into the atonal sound good for you, but don't trash it.
@@bobodeyuca This is just playing around in modes, not necessarily atonal. But yes, don't trash it. :)
@@Pandolin11 true true it's not like a 12 tone row or anything you're right, honestly I don't really care about music school words and stuff hahaha but yeah sounds good to me
@@Pandolin11 i kinda thought playing around in modes was like what atonal meant tbh
@@bobodeyuca Not necessarily. Atonality implies a lack of tonal center (a home base note, if you will). Throughout the intro they might shift tonal center, but there's always one present. Modes are manipulating the intervals (distance between notes) of a scale, and some can be alarmingly dissonant, but they're still based on a tonal center. I haven't analyzed the song, but I want to say the melody to Bone Collector uses a mode as well.
Wow I love the intro!
2:15
How to make 2 awesome old Martins sound kids plastic ukuleles…
Have you ever watched twins together? They speak a language that only one another can speak. These fellows are twins from another when.
Ritalin before breakfast.
at the beginning chris is like wtf... :)
Lage went full Derek bailey there at the beginning
Bringing out the Cecil Taylor within.
2:15 + ... "boys will be boys"... ;.-))
Sweet.
Anyone have the tab for this? Critter? Jules?
lol
best youtube comment ever!
Just learn whiskey before breakfast in any bluegrass book and you’ll be off to the races in no time.
Trolling starts @2:18 onwards 😂
Arnolds Schoebergs tea mixed with whiskey before breakfast
Like a GD space jam
😍
John Cage before breakfast 😂
2:11
lol improv all the way
Is there a tab for this? Not the lysergic one. I dare ya to cover this. Not the best of these two amazing players. Picasso throwing pasta at the wall.
Ah, melodic interpretation . Deviations from the true format of melody, but staying in the basic framework of it. Not for the purest, but purely entertaining.
2½ minutes of noise followed by a pretty great rendition of Whiskey Before Breakfast....
simply stunning impro style!

Damn it’s hard to play that badly. Tells you how good they are 😂
any idea which is the mic they are using?
I *think* I read somewhere that they use Chris' modified Neumann U87 - but I could be wrong (I'm probably right tho)
right around 2:29 ... that's just mean ...
I'm just a bluegass picker. I recognize talent. They have go it. My ear still hurts however. Rather listen to tony rice billy strings, Forgive my ignorance.
Agree 100%
Holy shit....too grand.
Surprised at Lage, intro bizarre
BooZegrass
oh man, so you can destroy a beauty melody....
I thought I was listening to Captain Beefheart for a minute.
Just proves Bluegrass is a primitive musical form incapable of any complexity or emotional expressivity...😉
Molly Tuttle has much better version.
bits of this really sound terrible. like im all for disonance here and there but some of this just sounds bad.
You idiot
Horrible intro...I get the whole having fun artistic license thing but they made an otherwise pretty song abstract and ugly...Just my opinion
Agree.
after one and a half minutes of someone hitting random notes on the guitar i change the channel
you made your move to soon
Nothing random about it. 😊
Excellent picking... however, not a good version to me. Perfect example of straying too far from home base and yes Virginia, you can have too many notes.. Sorry.. just my opinion..
It's always easy to find a straight version of this tune.
seems to me Tony Rice made a living off of straying from the melody.
@@Lea99Jones True... sometimes it works for me.. other times not so much..
Ok. Ok. Sorry in advance. Gay before breakfast. (I’m just kidding ) I’m mean, come on... that’s funny, right?
