    When I was probably 5/6, I remember going to my dad’s office and seeing him use this crazy looking interface. For him Tally was essential to running his business. He is retired now but he still sometimes opens his old laptop with Tally running smoothly. What an incredible piece of software engineering. Hats off to the Goenka family. Massive respect.

    Their Grandpa did it all in 1990s and sold it personally to clients when even computers didn't exist, is an inspirational story.
    This is probably the most underrated intellectual business family in India, thanks for covering this story
    And the product built by them is solid and smooth and no unnecessary clutter and clear interface with all keyboard operable. That's so amazing.
    Hats off to grandpa

    I don’t know why our people starts saying bucks instead of rupees 😂 Western effect..

    • @kishoredbn
      @kishoredbn Месяц назад +9

      Which western country says “bucks” and “sex appeal” in formal settings?!
      As of today, India has gone little further West of Western countries.

    • @steved.1091
      @steved.1091 24 дня назад +5

      Because rupee is a currency. And rupees means more than one unit of the Indian currency.
      But the word "buck" is not reserved for the dollar only. It used to be an informal slang for the dollar in the past but it's not strictly tied to the dollar anymore.
      5 rupees = 5 units of indian currency
      5 bucks = 5 units of any currency
      If this is new to you, let me introduce you to the concept called knowing how the speak a language. It's a process where you respect the language and learn it with honesty.
      So, learn the language rather than tagging others with the "westernized" tag and tagging your mistakes and shortcomings as "Indian English".
      You're just ruining things for fellow Indians who actually speak good English.

    My CA introduced me to tally when I joined business after college in 1994 Initially I used a pirated copy and shortly purchase one from bangalore office. The company was know as Puetronics pvt ltd at that time if I am not mistaken. Since then I am a tally user except for a small time span in between when we could not make invoices in tally. That period I used Wings software. Tally has truly been a boon for our business.

    We are proud to be a tally partner, Tally is not software it is a thought process of each businessman`s finance and accounting person. Normally any software is designed for sales and CRM etc and the final output is planned to get more money from other's pockets to sellers' pockets, Tally is the only one who thinks privacy, data ownership, easy mobility of data, data open in education mode, and no actions on piracy and many more. Most important is the period, it is since 1986! and see all generations are more in love than earlier ones. Tally takes care of buyers, partners, CA, and all. Thanks to BG sir, tejas sir, nupur mam and whole goyenka family.

    Tally maybe is the most popular accounting software in India. But it has a primitive interface. It is very difficult to use compared to other accounting softwares that use modern windows interface.
    Tally succeeded mainly because of first mover advantage and good marketing. Another thing is that once you start to use an accounting software it is very difficult to move to a different one. So once you start using Tally it is difficult to move to another software even if you find that software better one.

      For the user base the data which they regulate is not that big to visualise it's in their head, it's more like a ledger software, the businesses using tally don't need data scientist to look out for emerging trends in the data, coz it's just too simple at max few extra fields than a debit credit

    Tally at this point is like PHP, no one loves it, there are some haters, there are number of better alternatives, but it's still used just because it has been used for a while. Not a great spot to be in.
    Your software looks too old, and as you mentioned 10 times in the vid, yes gradpa did everything and i wish he was still in charge cz he would see the company sinking and rusting, waiting to be replaced by better products and he would act on it.
    If you don't want to work your ass off yourself to deliver something which is at level of international brands, then give chance to the leaders who can actually deliver, let someone else lead, who deserves. Pissed off cz not many indians brands had a market share like yours and you guys are ruining it, makes me sad.
