I live in Sweden, I want to move to Torre Vieja. I'm coming to see if I can buy an apartment. It's a dream and you guys have been contributing to help to d get to know Torre Vieja. Hi just returned yesterday, on the airport to Alicante bus its card payment only. Because of the virus many places in Spain prefer card payment. Masks are mandatory on all public transport. Easy jet are being brutal on the size of hand baggage ( new rules since Feb) and will charge e29 if its an inch oversize. Make sure you can get a good wi fi connection because the forms to fill out to return (passenger location ) is a lot longer than going out. Don't mean to hijack your post Mike and Yvonne but I thought it might help some other travellers. Great job on your video nice and clear and you seem to be a happy couple. Enjoy your stay. Regards.

Thanks Robbo, The temperature here is very hot. It's been up to 40 degrees but now and by the time you get here in two weeks, it will be a much more tolerant temperature. Having said that it's still very nice to be here.
Great update! We’ve just returned from our house in Benijofar flying into & out of Alicante/Elche airport. Similar experience to yours, no difference on leaving UK but on arrival in Spain we had our QR codes checked & I also got randomly selected so had to produce my paper COVID vaccine document. On leaving Alicante/Elche airport back to UK they do check you Location form at the gate, a good tip is to screen shot all your documents into your photo album so they can be easily found. On return to UK we just went through passport control as normal, both out & back our flight was only 2/3 full. Enjoy your stay & we even managed to get out on our little bikes.
Hi Bryan, thanks for watching and commenting and your great tip about making sure all documentation is quickly accessible on your phone, you never know if, like you and I, you may be singled out for a spot check. Having said that, it looks like change is on the horizon on the the 1st October, not official yet but the Health Secretary wants it to happen as soon as possible and stop the tests. Lets see what happens but it's looking good for green and amber travel.
Great stuff Mike and Yvonne you made it. So funny to see Leeds/Bradford airport. I was stranded there once after a meeting in Leeds. They cancelled my flight and I ended up in some very odd hotel near the airport. I have never been back. It seems so funny seeing you arrive at the bus station, when I was only there two weeks back. Glad you made it all ok. When I was there the bus was nearly full, but many people have either stayed or just not that many people going. Looking forward to seeing your travels. Gracias amigos

Got back from La Florida ( Orihuela costa) Yesterday..fairly straight forward. Getting back to the UK is a rip off 40 euros was the cheapest antigen test in found in Spain and £45 with testing for all in the UK for the 2 day test when back home. Call 119 in the UK to obtain you printed vaccination cert from the NHS makes the health check easy when at the airport in Spain. the Antigen test is nasal only and a certificate is issued within 10 mins. The locator forms take about 1/2 hour per person to fill in, Flight details, Seat numbers etc are required etc.. When in Spain the rules are pretty relaxed to wearing masks etc..
Glad you both got there hope them bikes are charged up and the fridge is full of cold beer and gin looking forward to the new vlogs. Been home now for two weeks wishing i was back in playa flamenca 🍻😊

Hi Phillip, the bus is downstairs at the moment, it changed with Covid, it was upstairs so check in good time just in case it moves back upstairs. Ut costs €7 each and gets in to Torrevieja autobus stacion in the middle of Torrevieja town. It doesn't stop on the way there, just goes from Alicante airport to Torrevieja Bus Station. Hi, We always say you have to come across and see for yourself. It's too much of a personal choice of what you like to do, where you like to be, if you like it quiet or buzzing. There are lots of great areas in the Southern Costa Blanca which are cheaper to buy in than in the Northern Cost Blanca where Benidorm and Denia is. We can only talk about the south as we only know the south. We like where we are because we think we have everything we need, for us. The only way to do it is to do what we did and come here for trips and investigate all the areas to find your ideal location. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Completely agree with Mike & Yvonne as you really need to visit a few times to find the area that ticks your boxes, not holiday hotels or resorts but rent houses in residential areas. I used to cycle a lot in North Alicante which is very mountainous so we were originally looking there but realised as we got older we would be dependent on a car, we then looked South & found a great house in a relatively flat area with everything within walking distance. Good Luck!

Good update guys, I flew into Barcelona from Thailand yesterday I was a bit unclear what I needed coming from Asia so much different requirements however only require PCR which is strange. If you have your QR code for the Spain locator filled in, its a breeze nothing to get uptight about. Now home after a 2 day travel ordeal, it’s good to be back…..🙏

Hi Nicola, all I can say is give it a try, Torrevieja has a lot to offer. To us the Lakes are very attractive and it’s so peaceful by them but the town at night is great also. Best wishes Mike and Yvonne
do you remember aproximately how much bus from airport to Torrevieja costs and then maybe also the very small ride from Torrevieja bus stop by taxi to your house ? I suppose those are not that expensive ?
Hi Bart, the bust from the airport is 7€ each and then a taxi to our house in Altos del Limonar from bus station is about 10€. The main bus station is due to be moved soon to a lot nearer our house ( by the Flamingo roundabout opposite Habaneras Shopping Centre ) so we would be able to walk home from there. Great channel, do you have a local agent looking after property when you not there ? How much would be going rate for agent ? I read this was safer as squatters can be a problem Costa Blanca.
Hi Richard, thanks for watching and commenting. We have neighbours who look out for us and have our details. Thats the good thing about having a property totally surrounded by other properties below, next to and in front of. We also have good insurance so feel happy when we are at home in the UK. We have not heard of any squatter problems in our area. We don't employ the services of anyone to "keep an eye on our property" and don't know much about it as we haven't looked into it. Great Vid and really pleased you've got back out there. We've not tried the bus from the airport yet can you share the price and anything we'd need to know before we're brave enough to try it?
Hi Chris, the bus is €7 each and is always the way we travel to Torrevieja from the airport. A taxi would cost us about €50 to the door. The bus goes to the station at Torrevieja without any stops. We then get a taxi from the bus station which costs us €10 so we save about €26. It is a bit annoying when the bus goes right past our house but doesn't stop until it gets to the station then we taxi back but its a lot cheaper than a taxi from the airport.. Love your vlogs. Would you say Torrevieja is a good area to visit. Some parts of Spain are over commercialised. I like friendly bars and a nice beach
Hi Nicola, all I can say is give it a try, Torrevieja has a lot to offer. To us the Lakes are very attractive and it’s so peaceful by them but the town at night is great also. Best wishes Mike and Yvonne

do you remember aproximately how much bus from airport to Torrevieja costs and then maybe also the very small ride from Torrevieja bus stop by taxi to your house ? I suppose those are not that expensive ?
Hi Bart, the bust from the airport is 7€ each and then a taxi to our house in Altos del Limonar from bus station is about 10€.
The main bus station is due to be moved soon to a lot nearer our house ( by the Flamingo roundabout opposite Habaneras Shopping Centre ) so we would be able to walk home from there.

I read this was safer as squatters can be a problem Costa Blanca.
Hi Richard, thanks for watching and commenting. We have neighbours who look out for us and have our details. Thats the good thing about having a property totally surrounded by other properties below, next to and in front of. We also have good insurance so feel happy when we are at home in the UK. We have not heard of any squatter problems in our area.
We don't employ the services of anyone to "keep an eye on our property" and don't know much about it as we haven't looked into it. Best wishes, Mike and Yvonne.

Hi Mark, as far as we know, the airport are only interested in the QR Code either on your phone or printed out as a result of you previously filling out the form online.
A pilot told me that if you approach Alicante airport from the sea there is a hump on the runway and it can be a bumpy landing.

Great Vid and really pleased you've got back out there. We've not tried the bus from the airport yet can you share the price and anything we'd need to know before we're brave enough to try it?
Hi Chris, the bus is €7 each and is always the way we travel to Torrevieja from the airport. A taxi would cost us about €50 to the door. The bus goes to the station at Torrevieja without any stops. We then get a taxi from the bus station which costs us €10 so we save about €26.
It is a bit annoying when the bus goes right past our house but doesn't stop until it gets to the station then we taxi back but its a lot cheaper than a taxi from the airport.. Thanks for watching and commenting. All the best Mike and Yvonne.

Buses not regular?

When you fill in the Spanish form before going out do they send you the qr code then and can you just print it out to show at airport or does it need to be on phone as well?
Hi, yes they send the QR Code when you get the confirmation email. You can print it and transfer it to your phone. We did both just in case.

1) how does the testing system work like the PCR test?
2)the other test you have to do when flying back to the UK?

We haven’t done the return journey yet but we will when we leave. We don’t know how it works yet and haven’t bothered looking into it as it will most likely be different by the time we go back in mid November.
