This is great!!
Great stuff, Michael!
Thank you for the encouragement, John!
I love knowing how to position the mic to reduce plosives.
Wonderful! I'm happy to be of some help. Thanks for watching.
Plosive "P" exercise: "Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers."
Where should i release a pidcast? And how to do a first epidode?
First - develop a show concept and know what your subject matter is. Next: record an episode in mp3 format. Last: find a service to host the mp3 file. There are many to chose from - Podbean, Libsyn, Blubrry, Buzzsprout, etc. Then the fun begins: finding an audience!
What if the mic is a cardioid? Does it still apply
Well, now we're talking about Polar Patterns. There are three basic types: Omnidirectional, Bi-Directional (Figure 8), and Cardioid. The mic I use, the Audio-Technica ATR 2100, is a cardioid mic. Its polar pattern is strongest straight on and weakest behind the mic. Hitting it within that 45 degree angle, at about a hand-breadth distance, does not lessen the signal from my voice.
Of course, if you are using a real pop-filter (the big screens) you will greatly lessen the chance of plosives when talking straight into it. However, the things I said about "working the mic" still apply unless you sit completely motionless while speaking. In which case nothing I said in this video would be of any benefit. I just happen to be a very kinetic person, and am always moving.
