Blows my mind that the dude that could hang for two or three hours at will didn't just dominate this. Highlights how finger strength for climbers is more endurant than strength based. Suppose there's a limit to added weight vs. body weight training when it's so sport specific.
First lift is new World Record, and you are now reigning world champion in that lift. First lift on second implement is new World Record, but got beaten a few minutes later, so now you are nr. 2 in the world on that lift 3.rd implement, also nr. 2 in the world. That sums up to STRONG and SUCCESS. Third impl
@WideBoyz it's was the last boulder of the semifinals in the last week IFCS comp in Prague! It's also on YT, but I watched it on an "unofficial" channel since the official stream was geoblocked. But yeah, you should find it easily on YT!
Haha Pete goes to a grip competition hoping to set some records on the climbing-esq pinches and awkward holds and of course meets another endurance-freak climber 😅
The grip strength meter is interesting cuz I thought I heard at one point that climbing strength (and even this comp) is more about the hand being able to resist opening vs how hard one can squeeze.
I'm not sure. The thumb position that is used in the grip sport (side of the thumb) is a bit different to how you hold pinches in climbing. maybe it has some crossover.
I've been watching stuff from Gods of Grip for ages and really wanted to go to some of their events but they're all the other side of the country to me :(
Not really mate, England's strongest man is a professional strongman, he does it for a living or as close as you can get, Pete is a pro climber, he does climbing stuff for a living. Pretty straight forward.
As soon as that guy hit 3fd on the lifting edge, I knew he was a climber
also that 1 mins + endurance
Pete saying a 6mm crimp isn't too bad if you're pulling down on it really made me laugh. Looked more like a razor than a hold!
Pleasure meeting you dude let’s do more videos soon!! 💜💪🏻
Love to see the crossover as a strongman fan!
Blimey, how likeable is everyone there.
Everyone's matching Pete's energy.
Wide Boyz are back!
Surely a hand jam hub needs to be fabricated?! : )
Something similar will come!
the fact that this guy 3 finger dragged the cliffhanger....crazy
ah literally 20 seconds later.... he is a climber, welllll xD
Awesome - fair dooes for diving in there Pete. Must have been way out of your comfort zone. Much props. Grip strength has such a great scene too.

Love to see some climbing footage of Joe. Probably damn fit.
Pete, know that you are loved! ❤

2:33 "small pipe" bit rude of them to out you like that, Pete.
Thanks Pete, helps a lot!
Nice one Joe, good effort Pete, world record for 2 mins 😀 more training to get over that 80 on the grippy gauge.
Seems like an absolutely lovely bunch of folk faffing around in a shed. Top day out that.
It really was a great bunch. Good scenes
Was great fun seeing you participate in a grip strength comp!
Looks like a great atmosphere
You have been missed! Also...HAVE YOU GUYS SEEN TOMOA AND SORATO FIST-JAM DYNO?! 🤯
@@androgynousmaggot9389 is that in a youtube video, or from a competition?

@@androgynousmaggot9389 ah yes thanks! I've seen that one 😀 so cool they've got some more cracks in IFSC 💪
I just want to say thanks to you guys because you inspired me to go to a crack climbing clinic at my local gym and I’m hooked!
Pete vs emil abrahamsson needs to happen!
or Joe vs Emil!
Where the heck have yous been!?!?.... We've been worried sick 🍻🍻
Check our latest community post for update on where the heck I've been, haha 😀👍
Lovely video! Good to have you back. Cheers!
fun watch, thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Loving this grip content
It's been a couple months, glad to see you back. Don't be a stranger.
thanks! check out our latest community post for where I've been :)
Looking wider than ever! The W I D E S T !

Enjoyed that 😊
it'd be cool to see this around at different climbing walls!
Great content 😎

Like the voiceover 👌🏽
Time to hit up Juji when you hit The States again.
That collab would be SO GOOD. 😃
Welcome back
once I saw joe with the puffer on, I knew he was a climber
What were the chances you run into another climber? Must have been inspired by Emil!
Now they gotta start doing jams at grip strength competitions
More of Joe please!
Bring Magnus along next time!
this seems like the type of thing where you set records for really specific stuff
It's incredibly....incredibly specific 😅
When the v17 crack boulder video coming up?
Wondering if that thumb position on the pinch would transfer to small pinches on the rock..
I'm not sure. The thumb position that is used in the grip sport (side of the thumb) is a bit different to how you hold pinches in climbing. maybe it has some crossover.

Hit up Yves grevel
Brill
Everyone watching this is wondering how Magnus would do at this

Who is Joe? What's his full name?
Joe Mama
@@DeFausti I see what you did there.
@@DeFausti hehe :D
Not taking anything away from joe but shouldn't the grip style be same. Half crimp i feel is harder for endurance than open hand
Nothing stopping pete from using the same grip
Everyone's a "professional" something-or-other here. Word loses its meaning.
