Dear Rob, please make that Part 2 happen for real! L.L is absolutely one of the most interesting guests you’ve had on. I could listen to him talk for hours 🤩🤞
Considering our history of producing great sitcoms, it's really sad that there's not been one that's really captured the nation's attention since G&S. I hope it won't be last
@@nickking2491 I couldn't disagree with you more. His character has grown, and it wouldn't have worked if he hadn't. He needed to grow to be with Ness.
Yes, was going to write the same. Giving the space to the people you've invited to talk is the best way to get people to feel comfortable to keep going, just enough to encourage people to keep talking by not interrupting xxx xxx
For a little sitcom on bbc 3 when I started watching it to see it absolutely dominate Christmas with a fantastic finale was amazing and 17 years later for all the original cast to still be up for it says a lot
This was fascinating! When I saw the fabulous Gavin & Stacey finale, I was sad that Mick looked so much older. Having seen this, he is razor sharp and no different than from the start of it all! I could listen to him for days!! 😊
Wow 34 minutes felt like 34 seconds. I could have listened to you both for hours. Thank you & I'm really looking forward to part 2. Larry you definitely need to write another book 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The best guest so far, great interview, Rob opened the tap and Larry poured out a great story. Looking forward to a whole series of Larry Lamb episodes
What an amazing memory Larry Lamb has! I listened to the longer Audio version of the interview and was constantly amazed at how much detail he remembers! More please!!!
Everyone loves you in Barry, you're all welcome all the time!! ♥ Most of us stayed away during filming all these years to be respectful but we really wanted to. You'll be loved to death if you turn up lol it's so nice to think sometimes one or the other pops by, just wonderful. You've all done so much for this town. Thank you!! ♥ Someone said Bryn had a line cut where Bryn's minds blown by an air fryer. "It fries! With Air!" If true I wish they'd left that in, we adore Bryn's glee - Just Magical. Big love from Barry xxxx
I NEVER COMMENT but I want part 2, 3 and 4…. Honestly one of the best podcasts I’ve listened to in a long time and could listen to Larry’s story all day! A beautiful and personal glimpse into his history!!! Please have him back!!!! Xxxxx
The cast must have heard the applause through the tears, in rooms across Britain, cos the finale of "Gavin and Stacey" truly lived up to it's hype-best ending to a series on Christmas Day since "Only Fools" 1996.
I've enjoyed immensely, so many of these podcasts, but this has to be the best. I've been a fan of Larry's, since he appeared in "Triangle" in the early 80's, with his laid back manner. I'd have been happy if it was 3 hours long, or at least if Rob had said it was the first of six episodes! I really, really hope that there is at least one more 🤞
Wonderful episode, really enjoyed this. And I think Rob really nailed it with his closing comments; people liked Larry, and it took him places. In other words, he charmed his way to success. Larry's a great charismatic bloke and has been his whole life. And thus he's charmed people at every turn. I realise now I've laughed my head off every time I've seen Larry interviewed on British TV; he's literally always fun to listen to. Anyone I've ever spoken to loves Larry, friend circles and family both. That's not to say he's not a great actor too. In fact, the skills mentioned all but confirm how talented he is; his ability to charm his way to the top explains his ability as an actor. He understands people, and has the ability to speak to us. Sorry, going back to Gavin and Stacey... There's a reason Larrry was chosen as the last man to stand at the reception. He's a good man and a strong man, and everyone knows it. That moment was perfect.
Have been a big fan of Gavin and Stacey from the first episode I watched on an Air Canada flight… Have spent time in Nova Scotia, including Antigonish and Halifax. Great stories. I listen to this show a lot and this was the best episode by far. Bring on Part Two!
Wow, Larry has a fantastic memory! Such an interesting life. All the synchronicities. I think he should write another book about his acting life. A great story-teller. Yes, loved that Rob didn’t interrupt.
This was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed the finale and brought back so many memories as we all watched G&S back in the day and our lives have all moved on so much. Pleased to hear that you had as much of a journey making it as we did watching.
oh my good goshness! Please get Larry back - I haven't listened to him speak before or know much about him but I want to listen to his stories more!! So interesting! What an orator!
It's fascinating how people get on. Hearing from someone now old. I'm not sure these opportunities still appear. I hope they do. But this is a lesson in saying yes to everything you think sounds interesting.
“get lost”…😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that made me splutter me vodka & coke down me white top Rob, that is always my exclamation when something surprises me 😂, I’m 64 and it always takes me back to being a child and being astonished! Great interview, thank you both 💛💛👍🏽🙋🏽♀️ Ok Larry Lamb…there needs to be a second biography, I’m sourcing the first one as you speak!
A cascade of good fortune - actually (better), surfing the wave(s) of good fortune. Having the presence of mind to do and to adapt to the requirements of the moment. There are probably still these crooked (in a geographical sense) byways through many career paths, but, almost always, it's a/the weird starting point that puts the potential journeyman outside of the sway of the regular gatekeepers. Another cracking interview... another interview of an *ordinary* life, but only from the perspective of the person living it. 😊🎄
I second Steve.Dennis's comments..that's not to say that your other guests are not entertaining but sometimes you can see that the advantage of age and (elephant in the room ) a lot of talent brings many life / career experiences that are worthy of the retelling ( and if it was not for this show....who would have known?).....Well done for getting Larry on your show......looking forward to Part 2
This was one of the most riveting interviews I've heard in this podcast, Rob. Part 2 please!!
Couldn’t agree more - PART 2 PART 2 PART 2!!!!! What a life!
@@irfisherSo easy to listen to.
Fully agree 👍
This was FASCINATING!!!! Thank you, Rob, for letting him talk and not talking over him. Larry needs to do a talk and Q&A. What a life!
Dear Rob, please make that Part 2 happen for real! L.L is absolutely one of the most interesting guests you’ve had on. I could listen to him talk for hours 🤩🤞
Loved Gavin and Stacey. Probably the last really great traditional British sitcom. If you could describe it as that. It was so much more. ❤
Before woke culture took over and immigrant pandering ruined the great British mainstream mentality.
Considering our history of producing great sitcoms, it's really sad that there's not been one that's really captured the nation's attention since G&S. I hope it won't be last
Well I must say the last ever episode was a let down, smithy was too serious and not how we all remember him, it was well over hyped
@@nickking2491 I couldn't disagree with you more. His character has grown, and it wouldn't have worked if he hadn't. He needed to grow to be with Ness.
@@nickking2491deep breaths my love 😂
Fab interview. One of those rare people who seems to be in the right place at the right time and who knows the right people. Wow!
I didn't want this to end... I can't wait for part 2, 3 and 4.
Brilliant Brydon as interviewer, you listened , you let Larry speak without interrupting the flow.Fascinating- can’t wait for the 2 nd part!

I thought the same.
@@AngusCameron-i4l I'm now listening to the 71 minute audio podcast on Spotify, with much more detail.
The art of networking... with a lovely big helping of the gift of the gab. Riveting ❤. Charming fella.

Yes.
Now we just need a Nessa & Smithy series! 😀
But Only Fools came back for two more specials
@@markkavanagh7377Corden would be wise to go in that direction, as it's the only way most people can tolerate him.
