hello Jon. I am a massive Ultravox fan, and have subsequently followed Midge ure's solo career ever since. He was lead singer from 1979 until 1986 (replacing original frontman John Foxx) until breaking-up the band to pursue his solo career. Billy Currie (keys and Viola) kept the rights to the name and hired two front men; Tony Fenelle and Sam Blue in the 90's without any commercial success. Ultravox reformed in 2009 with Midge patching-up his differences with Warren Cann, the drummer, and toured and released a new album in 2012 called 'Brilliant. Yes, this is Midge on vocals from the album Quartet recorded in 1982. One interesting fact about this song; It entered the UK charts at #15 and the video was shown on TOTP. Bearing in mind it was 1982, the scenes with two women riding on horseback, intimately soaping each other in front of a bath (albeit in soft focus ) and the final scene where a female opens her jerkin to expose her breast was all too much for the BBC, and the single fell 7 places to #22 the following week. It was never screened (or played) again.
Ultravox were the Scottish Kings of Synth and Modern Romance in the late 70s, the 80s and still touring to this very day. He was also one of the unsung heroes of putting together BandAid.
You should watch the video! It’s embroidered in the song’s mood. Regarding the uncensored video clip, there is a slightly altered (i.e. censored) version on youtube. Now i was a teenager in the 80’s but i believe i remember this song coming out a bit later than 1982, maybe they gave it a 2nd go in the mid 80’s? I remember that ‘disturbing’ feeling it gave me and it’s only much later that i got to appreciate this feature.
This is a masterpiece. I love how Ultravox always did their own thing and came up with the best music I personally have heard

Kevin Gunning great info thanks !
This is a cracking track. Very underrated in my opinion. Everybody knows the huge hits and yet this gets overlooked
I NEVER SEEN THIS VIDEO, AND I AM FOLLOWING MIDGE SINCE MY CHILDHOOD, EVEN NOW ON INSTA....
Beats me why they couldn't do an alternative video for totp and leave this song alone, it's an amazing track!
YEAH, LEGENDARY TUNE, NO DOUBT OF THAT !! GOOD REACTION.......
Special mention to John Fox too, more so his Metamatic Album.
How can you not recognise Midge Ure's vocals?
just doesn't sound like him to me
