Thanks for your question Wendy! Nordic walking is a full body workout, so yes, it also help building muscles in your arms.
In this video, I show which muscles are used in nordic walking: ruclips.net/video/CwjdXYb_DTs/видео.html
To get the best benefits, try to use the poles actively. 😉

Love your detailed videos. I have been watching all and convinced I want to start Nordic Walking. I’m 69 inches tall and your chart shows 172cm = 67:717 inches rounds off to 68 inches this is roughly an inch below 69 inches. I have short legs of 29-1/2 inches. I know the chart places my height into the 120cm pole length, but since your knowledge of this subject has variables that others never mention, would you say this difference using 115cm would be acceptable? I like to be exact in measurement but I also like the fact body position, leg and arm measurement stride is never mentioned in many Utube videos and I realize you are spot on in these variables that must be considered. I truly appreciate the fact you inform others that you didn’t adhere to the exact scale numbers and went 5 cm higher increment for your personal needs for your workout. Thank you for your in-depth explanation and experience for beginners who like me, who find this confusing deciding the correct pole sizes. Any help would be greatly appreciated for an Excel fixed poles.
