I'd love a ScanSnap i1600 because my hubby & I have a TON of things needing to be scanned. The first & most important: we've done a lot of reno & construction on our house over the last 20 years. We need to scan all those bills and receipts we've kept so that when we sell the house, we have clear and accurate records to submit to the IRS.
I really like the features on the ScanSnap. I have loads of documents, receipts, photos that need scanned. The various locations my estate work requires makes the ix1600 my take along tool.
Thanks for that Rocky! It really is an amazing scanner. I practice estate administration for many years as part of my legal practice and always appreciated how my ScanSnap helped me get everything scanned quickly so I could get started with my actual legal work. 😊
Thank you Luis. These are both great scanners and lots of people ask me about the differences so I wanted to make this review. Hopefully it will help. 😊👍
I have the Fujitsu ix1600 Evernote edition but switching my docs to Apple Notes. I used the Scan Snap app on my Mac and set it up to scan into Evernote, but now want to scan into Apple Notes. I've searched everywhere but can't find a simple solution on how to use this scanner and scan into Apple notes. I did see someone do a work around using Apple Scripts but still could not figure it out. Please do a video on this, even if I need do a workaround. I'm using a M1 Mac desktop and need to use this scanner to scan into Apple Notes app. Thanks!
The first thing I would scan if I had a Scansnap IX1600 are old German town history documents so I can quickly scan them to OCR and translate from German to English. I used an IX 1600 at work and it was wonderful. It was the one item I wish I could have taken with me when I retired.
I'm looking at the iX1600 to replace my old iX500 scanner. It still works but issues with Windows seeing it and page feeding at times. But the iX1600 seems to be perfect for me. Thanks for the thorough eval on both scanners.
You're welcome Nancy. The iX1600 is such a versatile scanner, I'm sure that it would do a great job for you. Also, did you see that I am running a free giveaway to win an iX1600? If you want to enter, please see that video, subscribe to the ScanSnap US RUclips channel, and comment on another one of my iX1600 videos sharing what you would scan first if you were to win. :-)
Hi. We have a black and white Brother, which is our main daily documents printer. However, our colored printer has been continually a problem, and we've needed to get a flatbed scanner. I'd love a ScanSnap iX1600 so we can start proper archiving from date of receipt and moving forward. The first thing I'd scan with my new iX1600 is contract and new training documents.
The first thing that I would scan with a Scansnap IX1600 is all of my children's pictures and my receipts and paperwork. I homeschool and it would be helpful to be able to keep all of my children's work and keepsakes in an easy to find location. I previously used a Scansnap at my prior employer and it was very easy to use and the images were very good. So, I would like to have one at home as well.
I would use a new iX 1600 scanner to scan the exhibits for the depositions I take as a court reporter. Having this new scanner would really help my production time!
My workhorse ix500 of last 7 years is starting to have feed issues. I would use a new faster ix1600 for daily scanning of complete loan applications for submission online. Each application package is 75-100 pages and I submit 2-3 packages per week. My ix500 has never hiccuped and a newer ix1600. Will help me do faster loan submissions.
Would you know if I can use the iX1600 for scanning baseball cards sheathed in penny sleeves and hard plastic top loaders? I know that I can do it with the fi-8170 but can't find any examples of the iX1600 being used in the same way. Hoping that you can shed some light on this subject. I need to be able to scan dozens and sometimes hundreds of sports cards for selling on eBay. Right now I'm using an Epson V600 flatbed. It does a great job but it's a slow process.
Hi Papa. I'm not sure. I think it would all depend on the thickness of the card/sleeve and its ability to bend. I think the reason collectors use the fi-8170 is because it definitely works for your specific use case, it is much faster than any ScanSnap scanner. However, if you wanted to try an iX1300, I bet it would do a great job for you and be a less expensive alternative over the iX1600 and fi-8170. In my experience, the iX1300 scans thicker items that will not go through a ScanSnap iX1600 (for example, my iX1300 can scan my passport but my iX1600 cannot and it gets jammed). See in my iX1300 video how I scanned a huge pile of photos (of all different sizes and thicknesses), very quickly. Here is a link to the right part in the video: ruclips.net/video/hMGaO45Q8DI/видео.htmlsi=_8MRK99ri41pxEeB&t=322
Wow great video. I would love to win iX1600 so I can scan all the receipts and work documents. I am using app but not looking for a convenient way and having a scanner at home would be PERFECT! Fingers crossed! Thanks!
Do you think it's a good idea to purchase the iX1600? It seems the hardware is over 3 years old now and i'm wondering if i should just hold out for the newer model. I don't need the scanner immediately, so i can wait a few months or so if need be.
That's a good question. The hardware is over three years old but the machine works incredibly well and is still the flagship model. I'm not sure if the company has any plans to release a new version anytime soon. Did you also see my review of the iX1300? It is slightly newer than the iX1600, though it's a different take. By the way, I love Trogdor!
@@SeanDillman thanks for the heads up on the iX1300, that might fit the bill with the addtional option of scanning thicker documents like passports. Really appreciate it!
@@SeanDillman I looked into the iX1300 a little more and it seems like it doesn't support scanning directly to a network share which is unfortunate as it meets all the other requirements. But again, thank you for the recommendation!
Sean, is there a duplex scanner/printer with ink well, Windows 11(64) compatible? I bought and returned Brother MFC-L8900CDW was a not a good fit. Brother has no tech support. Thank you.
Hi Sean, I was hoping that you could assist or help with some guides on the Ricoh fi-8170 ADF + Manual feed scanner (PaperStream Capture Pro) QC & Index Enable a workstation to acts as a dedicated QC & Index Station where no scanner is required to operate QC/Index workstation , the workstation becomes a part of a multi station capture environment but can not be operated stand alone.

The first thing I'd definitely scan with a new ix1600 scanner would be all the medical, tax and retirement related documents, followed by all the photos I have from many, many great memories that are slowly fading away.

The first thing I would scan if I had a Scansnap IX1600 is the large stack of legal documents I've accumulated over 45 years of adult life. I don't want to have an ugly metal file cabinet in my home anymore!
I would love to add a ScanSnap i1600 to mine and my husband's home office to be able to digitize all receipts and his work orders. Right now we have boxes and files upon files of documents that it would be great to upload to a organized online media file. Please pick my number to WIN!!!
