- Sarah Hill knows that working in a person’s home is a very personal and intimate experience. In this Brownstone Brooklyn Home, Sarah and her husband did just that by giving this house a modern look with black and vintage accents. Although the house dates back to 1860 but was gut-renovated in the 1920s or ‘30s, according to Hill’s detective skills, it is now under landmark protection. Her edict for the renovation and subsequent design? “Don't strip the house out of all its great character. Celebrate that character,” she says, “but then also make sure that it doesn't compromise their modern aesthetic.”

This place is stunning!❤️Wow super cool; love the bold choices like the wallpaper in the powder room, the black stairway/trim work, herringbone floors😍 & that cozy alcove is incredible. Love that the bedroom is light & breezy, so relaxing🥰 What a truly amazing space..nice work!
this is truly my favorite house tour ever. ever. the design is perfect.
This is the David Gandy of design. i just cant stop coming back and gazing at it.
I come back atleast three times a week to check this house out. I am finishing up a novel and my protagonist is living here.
Love it! Let us know when your novel goes on sale.
Beautiful home! I love how bright and airy it is but the use of black creates intimacy and nuance. It seems cozy and sexy but light too. So well done.
Love this reno! The presenter.. not so much. Very nice that Sarah was very warm and friendly to not make the video seem too awkward.
I agree and Joe didn't even talk much..well that was awkward.
@@valeriecuramen3157 aah his name is Joe. I felt awkward for him.
Agree---plus she has a very annoying voice and style of speaking, in my view. Doesn't make a good impression.
I agree sarah is great and could have her own show.
the presenter voice sounds excited buy her body language was like not interested at all.
A lot of comments about not liking the presenter, but I MUCH prefer this girl over those guys in the tight suits and white sneakers that say the word "entertain" every 15 seconds!
Thank you, that is why I can’t watch most of these videos. She’s so much less obnoxious than those guys.
I totally agree with you. She need a little more polishing in regards to timing of interview and what to do with her body language but overall I prefer a female well dressed instead of commission hungry men in suits.
House is fantastic by the way, except kitchen vent pipe on top that Ikea cabinet should have been hidden with fake cabinet door.......
This is exquisitely designed, stunning!
I love the millwork and the old mixed with new!
I LOVE this design and decor. This is one of the best brownstones I've seen with good mix of high/low (love the Ikea cabinets) and old/new. The entering the patio via shower is super weird though, and who actually has access to the garden- main family or basement renters?
This is perfection...…...
Beautifully done!
THE HOUSE was beautiful!
Paint colors:
Front door & stairs-Farrow & Ball “Pitch Black” Stair walls/trim Benjamin Moore “Witching Hour” (different finishes) Kitchen cabinets: BM “Midnight Dream”
Master Bedroom: Benjamin Moore “Alaskan Husky” with 50% more white added.
Would love to know the white paint used throughout the home🙏
Stunning!
Stunning house! Superb!
Beautiful home ❤
I've been looking for that couch for several years. The tan leather couch is awesome. Can you tell us where you got it?
Beautiful house!!!
Really love this house!!
I lost it when the kitchen cabinetry uses Ikea. Say hello to watermarks and bumpy fibreboard in the next year. Can't believe the homeowners skimp on heavy traffic and the daily wear and tear part of the house.
Hi Sarah Hill, can you tell us where to find that cognac-colored couch?
The presenter looked uncomfortable for the majority of the video which is distracting given the amazing job Sarah did on the house. Beautiful work!!
Lol.. I think the presenter is not keen on doing this! Give her a different show.
Stunning
I think it's the vocal fry? Beautiful space and design. S/out Sara
Love the house.
Hi, a new friend here. Love it. Keep connected, thanks. Cheers!
Where is the functional part of having a door in the bathroom to the exterior?
Might be good for people on the front lines of covid?
Beautiful house, wish I could see more. But the host seemed off and there was clearly no door in shower,
I think the host should at least do some research on properties she visits instead of winging it. I wanted to watch, but just couldn’t listen to that terrible host.
Had to turn off the sound, the music was so distracting from what was being said.
Judging from hef lack of enthusiasm & energy the presenter's clearly NOT interested in this.
Pity, coz this house is BEAUTIFUL.
Beautiful reno! The host wasn’t very friendly. Body language speak volumes & she gave off bad attitude vibes.
His name is Jim and she said Joe...
she was nervous guys; I think she is probably like a executive assistant and or fairly new and young editor. I've worked in Nyc magazines for years. there's no preparation. You are just thrown into the task. she did just fine. I wasn't thinking about her; there was too much interior design porn going on.
❣
haha the show host is awkward but she’s not so bad. i kinda warm up to her near the end. 😂
I wish I wasn't broke
Nice house but why would they put Ikea cabinets😱!!
Why not?
@@AgentAO7 Because [IMHO] it looks cheap especially the wall with the sink and stove!!!
They just used the box & purchased new wood doors/facing but I feel like the sliders, above right of stove, look cheap like they could actually be IKEA. Not a fan of those.
Appealing home, albeit, the living room was a bit cluttered. Far too many items situated on buit-in bookcases. Appears Modern / Eclectic with minimal contemporary elements
Hmmm... not sure why all the hate...she ask several questions and allowed the designer to explain the concept behind the design.....job well done
IMMMMMPOVERISHED
The house is cool, but the video production and host were duds. Make more of the incredible kitchen series with Carisha Swanson, please!
IKEA cabinets are crap. What a shame to have used them in such a nice space. They won't hold up unless they are more for show.
ikea cabinets actually are not crap. there's been some really serious studies comparing them to expensive italian cabinets and Ikea wins over and over. Designers use them all the time. NYT has done a zillion stories on Ikea cabinets.
New (York) Chicago.
Nice home. Wow..... this audience is rough:)
That wallpaper in the powder room is ugly
Really irritating music
Gentrification.... hurts like hell
Lovely house but host was terrible
I HATE it when single family homes are converted. All of the upper east coast is like that. It's so sad. The enchantment goes away along with history. My opinion.
I hate when a beautiful brownstone gets renovated into a modern mess. The kitchen is ugly and uts a shame as the original fixtures were wonderful from back in the day. No charm just replaced with current stuff that screams "no soul".
The client? Color me confused, but I thought these two were a couple and this was their multi million dollar brownstone. Also didn't realize there were 3 units...right? IDK why that man was there. He contributed nothing. I didn't care for the decor, kitchen, or wall color. Everything was a bit too modern, page 33 of some design magazine. It's Bohemian meets local furniture store.
The is house lost its soul. The presenter lost her mojo!
I'm first lol.
Yes, you are the first imbecilic ignoramus to type "I'm first"!!
Messy. Different wainscoting, black that hides beautiful woodwork, ugly dining room. 2 stars reno.
Your best idea is to talk smack about everyone else's work? 😂 Yikes!
