It's always interesting to me how playing a certain instrument immediately makes a song sound more like something from the culture the _instrument_ stems from
That mostly because the music made by certain cultures tend to feature said instruments more heavily, but there is also an effect of how the limitations of each instrument bring forth adaptations that change how the song sounds, which due to typically being associated with a specific instrument circle back around to being heavily featured in the culture it comes from.
Man, music is amazing.
This instrument made the soundtrack for Wano arc of One Piece so damn cool

@@sword3349 except the music itself isnt really japanese at all, megalovania in specific, is like a mixture of blues and metal
I guess it's because it focuses more on the instrument itself and not the harmony of blending multiple instruments together. Nearly all instruments have the capacity to make the same range of notes like any other. There's always more than one way to play the same song.

This instrument is a traditional Japanese instrument. It's called shamisen.
It's amazing what he can do with just a single string.
*丁寧で落ち着いた弾き方とは裏腹に、スピード感があり大胆なメロディが心に響く。

中学の時にマジプロの三味線やってる方が学校に来て授業してもらったんだけど
その時聞いたその方の演奏がマジでベースと一体化した感じの音色だったんだよね
だからしゃみおさんもその域に既に達している方かと思ったんだけど

I always loved how the shamisen comes with its own percussion
just so you know your not suppose to hit it, its the heart of this instrument where different skins will produce a different tone
i love the fact that i still have yet to actually listen to the original song but have heard like m7 covers.
Ironically, listening to all the songs eventually made me get the game.

To be fair a lot of people don't even know the original song. I don't think that's a problem for this track in general.

It's even better if you're invested in the game, but if you have no interest in playing it you still should check a few songs like Hopes and Dreams, Home, His Theme, It's raining somewhere else, and Heartache. You can also find some amazing covers of them on youtube.

"There is a story, one that I have heard numerous renditions of. But today, I will tell you the original tale. There was a kingdom, hidden deep below the surface of the world. Populated by creatures that would be considered monsters and demons to humanity. This kingdom was little more than a story, until a child fell into the kingdom. Within the kingdom there was a judge, who was to decide on whom will see the king, and whom will face his wrath, that judge's name, was Sans. The human that had fell, had seemed like any other child, quiet and inquisitive, imaginative and wild. The human had befriended the beasts and monsters of the underground kingdom. And for a time, there was peace.
But as they say, peace is never meant to last. The human child had changed, gone mad? Fallen under the influence of a demon? Nobody knows. But none of that matters now, all that matters is that this child, had begun to slaughter the people of the underground kingdom. They all tried tried fight, they all fell. Even the greatest warrior, believed to never die, was felled by the child. The child had made their way into the kingdom's heart, before being stopped. It was the judge, Sans had never been a fighter, he was lazy and sluggish. He had never met his mother, and couldn't remember an ounce of information about his father. All his life, it was him, and his brother. The judge, had lost everything, his home was doomed to fall to ruin, his friends had all been lost, and his brother, his kind and unnaturally optimistic brother, was dead. Nothing more than dust within armour.
The judge had nothing left, except a vow he had taken to himself after his brother's death, he was going to avenge his brother, if it took everything the judge had to do it. And so the judge fought the child, with everything he had left, anger boiling his bones and poisoning his mind. But alas, after all his fight was spent, the judge fell to the cold ground, the last thing he saw was the child, smiling.
And so the underground kingdom fell to ruin, nothing more than rubble and dust. And I know you're wanting to know, how do I know all of this?
Well that is because... I was that child..."
