Knee high always puts a smile on my face and today was no different. Enjoyed the trip to enjoy Mother Nature's beauty.
Y'all must have eaten lots of wheaties and red meat. It looked like the siding went up effortlessly.
Doing great, keep up the wonderful work and when knee high gets grown y'all can share all of the home building memories. Take care.

I would recommend to tape all the windows on the other sides before putting up the siding. That way you won't make the mistake of not taping two windows in this video.

Why use tape instead of a waterproof sealant? Sealant is a fraction of the cost. Thanks.

Loved the video. You both done a good job on the siding figuring out the air pressure for the nail gun so it wouldn’t damage or crack the siding as you nailed it up. You taught something about that and saved someone I’m sure the head scratcher on how or why this was not working for them. So you are armatures you say but you are teaching to others on things they maybe not done until now. Love the videos you guys are awesome.

Another great video guys...! Loved the river trip and great choice Jim...👍👍 Siding looks great too...! I did the same thing (forgot the tape) so I consulted a construction engineer and he suggested using an Industrial Construction Sealant called Sikaflex 1a... I did & found that it is an excellent waterproofing calking I used on my windows in 2003 and still no leaking. Amazon has it too...

We just installed James Hardie cedar mill planks on our house. My husband and I did it ourselves. Took FOREVER, but it is finally done! The one thing I would have done differently, was put that rubber stuff at the bottom where the concrete meets the osb siding. I asked my hubby to do that before we started the siding, but he said it wasn't necessary. I complely disagree. Now, I'm thinking of removing the bottom plank on the entire perimeter of the house myself just to use the rubberized barrier😒. We don't disagree on much, but this is something I might have to tackle myself while he's at work😂 Wish me luck😂😂
You guys did a super job on your place! It's always great to save tons of money and not have to hire it out!

I’ve worked with that 4x8 concrete panels you all are doing great! Just a thought.. Maybe with the right nail pull. You could get the nails out. Using a 1x4 to press against to protect the siding. Then renail obviously in other spot’s. Caulking the original holes the batons will cover it up . With putting trim & shutters around the windows it will be perfect. . Amazon Crescent 11" Nail Puller Pliers - NP11,Red/Black

I wouldn't worry too much about the windows with the missing tape. It looks like you have a decent overhang, and I suspect you are planning on adding some trim around the windows (with lots of caulk) to keep the rain out. I'm enjoying following the build process, great job!

Yup we all make mistakes and it's easy to criticize, to be honest I think by the time you trim the windows and seal I don't think you will have a problem especially if you are thinking of building covered walkways/ porches and decking etc around that area. You both are doing a fantastic job and I am looking forward to seeing the completed house.

Get a bug zapper and stick a chunk of meat in the middle the wasps will be drawn to it and zapp. You can also make one by building a frame with a metal grid on it and attaching a car battery to the metal. They land and zap. That's how I deal with the wasps that make ground nests. Set the box grid with the metal grid (small holes so they can't just fly out) over the hole and clip on the battery cables. Keeps kids and pets away and sit back and watch the sparks fly.

@@CajunCountryLivin sweet. One difference is cavity battens, in the early 2000’s we use to do it that way. But we had leaky buildings and rot due to trapped moisture, hopefully not an issue in the States.

You will be fine. Just make sure that you foam the shim space from the inside with low-expanding polyurethane (closed cell) insulation. It will provide continuity with the house wrap.
