  • The 3 Chords of Rock n Roll. This is a video I uploaded to a Bruce Springsteen fan page on Facebook to help beginners pick up the guitar. I should say that if you want to play along with the studio version, you need standard tuning and CAPO 2.

    “All you need is 3 chords and the truth!” Haha... Put this one off because it was so easy, but finally wrote it all out to add to my campfire collection... what a great song! And my Jersey Girl mother (Jersey City), will love it, as she’s the one that introduced me to The Boss when I was a baby... and I still can’t get enough at 48yrs old! Thanks again for another good one Tony!

    Jersey girl, and huge Springsteen fan, Love your videos, teaching myself acoustic, (I play Piano, drums, and saxophone) love how you simplify everything. Still have to smooth out switching between chords, but getting better. Thank you!

    Another great video. Do you have any tips on developing a natural strumming pattern?

    • @tonyglen33
      @tonyglen33  2 месяца назад

      I always attack a song in three steps.
      1. Chords
      2. Singing (while playing)
      3. Strumming
      By the time I get to #3, the strumming is just there :) Give it a try, cheers!

    Nice! Can you comment on your strumming pattern please?

    • @tonyglen33
      @tonyglen33  3 года назад +3

      Hi Mikey, I wish I could but it's 100% feeling. In my opinion, the order of importance is chords, vocals and then the strumming should come naturally as the third piece. I hope this helps.

    The original is in the Key of A, but these chords work as well. www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0061618

      That's not the point of the video. Those 3 chords are what I'm teaching and I mention Capo 2 in the description. Thanks for commenting :)

      @@tonyglen33 I said those chords work, but if anyone plays along with the record to practice, they would be off. It is easier for beginners to play it your way. It also depends on the singer’s vocal range as well. Dylan constantly changes the arrangements and key of his songs. I am working on ear training, so try to play in the key of the recording for practice. It was more a reference for your students; I realize you know the key as a professional player. You did put in the title that it was a beginner lesson, so I knew you had an easier chord structure.

      @@GaryBook Cool. More songs to follow in the same chord structure. Best of luck with your ear training.
