Wow this was a tough one and pls don't apologise for talking too much it's great as we are learning all about the different muscle groups and how they help our running, going to try and follow your advice and do this routine a couple of times a week. Some of the exercises are definately burners! Thanks very much !
It really is a burner this one and yet again its one of those ones that we should be doing more as runners but neglect this type of work! Not you though Tracy, well done!!! thank you for leaving a comment as always 🙏
Thank you for this. Many fitness videos are focused on improving the appearance of our bodies, but your approach focuses solely in strength and improving our running which is really helpful for me!
OMG, just back in training after a 12 days break. Combined a treadmill session with this strengthening workout followed by one of your yoga/stretching sessions. Thank you, Ash!
I’m now doing this one along with the stability one, twice a week. I love running on the trails but have fallen a few times. As a 65 year old it’s imperative that I get stronger so I don’t fall and I can carry on running 😁 Thank you Ash for these videos.
I like the talking! So many RUclips workouts have little to no instructions for form and what to check throughout the exercise to make sure you are doing it correctly.
This is a great workout! Injury prevention is the name of the game for me as I'm getting older (mid-twenties but my body feels older). I love the hip flexor pulses at the end. That was a new exercise, and it's been a game changer after doing this for only a few weeks. Hip flexors are my Achilles' Heel, and I"m having less pain both during running and my everyday life.
That’s amazing to hear Andrew, thanks for that. I have a free 28 day programme launching on here in January called ‘Injury Prevention Blueprint for Runners’ so that will be ideal for you 👍🏻
I usually workout in silence bc I don't the music they have but your talking is actually great and interesting. The reminders throughout the exercises made me focus on the right areas. Thank you so much! This is a gem.
Had another go at this exercise like yo do this one as well as your upper body strengthening exercises at least once a week thank you very much, legs are burning now!
Morning Tracy! Well done for coming back and putting in the hard work, its so valuable! Hope the half-marathon training is going well. Have a good day!
Thanks Ash unfortunately my training has had a bit of a setback due to family circumstances ..hopefully get back to building up the distances again soon !
I sustained a ankle fracture about 3 months ago for the first time in life at 6-aside football and I'm so grateful I came across this clip. I have been looking for more progression ideas before I get on to running drills. Great video and detail, it's all functional, amazing!!Thanks for this!!
Parts of this workout were easy and parts were extremely challenging-- pointing out in vivid detail the muscle imbalances my doctor says are causing my chronic plantar fasciitis and ITB issues. Now I know what I need to focus on. Thank you!!
Thank you! I love the talking because it shows you are knowledgeable about what you do and passionate! It is my first video indeed and you have a new subscriber here from Poland 🫶🏼
I started running a few months ago, and I've been having soreness in my glutes and hip flexors recently. This seems to be targeting exactly those areas, so I am going to keep doing this video. Love the channel, Ash!
You got a thumbs up here, thanks for this routine, I am re-activating myself after a long pause and I'm taking things easy and paying more attention to injury prevention so this is helpful. I completed it, just in a couple of exercises from this routine, I dropped as it felt like there was too much burning, or sometimes, burning not on the right muscle or area, so I dropped to not overuse the wrong muscle -which is what I used to do and was constantly contracted and or getting injuries-. It would be helpful for beginners, or people like me who don't use their group muscles properly, to have some alternative guidance of what you should and shouldn't feel on each exercise. And/or versions to "awake" or "activate" the right muscles for each of these. For instance the last one with "knee pulses" I was burning the quads, and barely felt any work in the front hips muscles which you mentioned that the exercise was for. But still, really helpful thanks 🙏
Thanks so much for your feedback. I do tend to say tap the muscle we should be working as that helps tell the brain to switch it on against the tapping. Glad you are focused on injury prevention now, well done 🙌🏻👍🏻😊
I’ve been having symptoms of plantar fasciitis for the last month and a half from training for spartans in barefoot shoes. It was really stressing me out. I had never had any sort of injuries or anything before related to running. All the videos on youtube were like stretch it and strengthen you calf, which is partly true, but i had uneven weakness in my glutes and hamstrings. I did this video one time after running for the first time in 3 weeks. woke up this morning practically no pain. Thanks so much man! this is going to be apart of my routine now!
Well done for knowing that your glutes are hamstrings contribute to what’s going on elsewhere in your body. It’s all linked so strengthening glutes is going to help massively. Most of us do have weak glute activation especially Glute Medius because of our sitting habits. So glad this helped you 👍🏻😊
I really like the talking and the explaining of what each exercise and muscle group do! I've been doing yoga and running and never realised how interlinked they were and how yoga truly is helping me get stronger for my running and preventing injury! Super helpfull and informative video! And a great workout thank you ❤
Did this followed by the 10 mins plyo. Great to have a channel just dedicated to running S&C as it’s a minefield out there with so much content. I love the simplicity and effectiveness of your workouts. Maybe a runners HIIT session and/or a kettlebell routine would be brilliant!
Fantastic! Thanks so much Helen. It’s great to see you popping up with the comments so often. Noted regarding feedback 😊 I do have longer and more dumbbell workouts on my app as these take more time to plan and film 👍🏻
Thank you Ash for the video! Absolutely love the talking..takes the mind off the gruelling seconds of the activity and the info is an added bonus! Training with you this marathon season!
Going through my training block for my new year race with this strengthening workout on deck!!! I'm confident that I'm gonna finish the race strong with this workout. 😊
I love your videos, thank you so much!! I am a long distance runner and had an injury this summer that made me quit marathon training and focus on injury prevention. I am using your videos several times a week to build better stretching and strength habits so I can keep running and hopefully do my first marathon in June 2025! Thank you for your calming and helpful videos.
Thank you so much Madeline. I really appreciate reading your comment and love for my channel 🙏 I’m so glad it helps you as you see the value of prevention work for injuries, well done for adding this into your routine. Lots more to come 👍🏻🙌🏻😊
Thank you thank youu!! 👌🏼 I’ve been doing this training twice each week for my marathon prep. Keep doing what you do (and don’t apologize for giving great explainations 😉)
I found your video to help supplement my running, this video was great and I appreciated the talking breaks :) also found your channel, its full of good stuff!!
I like all the talking for watching it for the first time. If you make another one with less talking I would be more inclined to watch it over and over for the strength ruitine. Thanks Ash. great stuff.
thank you Ash, just suffering from achilles tendinopathy and really need to concentrate on getting more strength into my training. Will definately do this video again
Thanks Ash! Just did this for me again and have been incorporating it into marathon training to keep my muscles active and strong. Really appreciate the explanations and dialogue as well!
thus is my second time coming back to do this workout again and it's great! i love the chill vibes, it's been more pleasant to me than the usual workout videos with agitated music, so i really appreciate this. i also recommend your channel to my girlfriend who likes running and she loves it!! ❤
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. Please it's straight forward and simple I can stick with it. Thank you for creating an effective video to help runners like myself that tend to resist strength work.
Thank you Ash! A few days ago I suffered a knee injury, so I'm glad there are videos like yours to help get me back on the right path. My injury was caused by running with shoes that were much too old, and started in the ankle of my left leg and spread to my knee. Which means I can't run for a few weeks now.
Just starting my running journey (3 weeks in now) and stumbled across your channel. I absolutely love the style of your videos, Ash! Very informative and helpful for running beginners like me ❤️
Amazing video! Super helpful, especially since I tend to forget how important the work beyond running itself is. Thank you! I also enjoy the talking - distracts us from the (good) pain and we learn something at the same time!
I love the talking. The tapping suggestion to make sure the glutes were activated was especially helpful for myself, as having hyper mobility means that most of the time I have to try extra hard to be aware of what muscle is working. Will definitely be checking out your other videos!
Another great video, thanks Ash. My daughter and I have been running for several years and only recently started paying attention to stretching and strengthening. Your videos have been our go to for this. Thanks for your clear explanations of not only what to do but also why we are doing it!
Thank you so much Shaun, I appreciate you taking time to comment to let me know you and your daughter enjoy my videos. That’s so cool. I have two girls and hope the run with me too when they are older🙏😊
Just started my first day of C25K yesterday and am currently on a rest day, been doing some research in how to become a better runner and exercises like these are so heavily mentioned ! I feel great! My balance is def not the best but I'm sure with time I'll improve! You have such a great vibe about you Ash ! can't wait to watch more of your routines !
Thank you so much for your kind words of support. Welcome to my RUclips community and good luck with your C25K journey. Well done for taking on the challenge. Keep me updated on your progress 👍🏻😊
This was one of my favorite videos. At first, I had a little cramp in the back of my thigh when exercising lying down. But still, I continued! I really liked it because there was also stability training. Excellent to start the week and after a regenerative run. Thanks, Ash! ✌️
Oh wow, thanks Bel. So glad this is one of your faves 😊 you do lots of strength work, well done 🙌🏻 glad you enjoyed the stability training and like you say, it’s a great start to your week 👍🏻
I've been following you since a month and I do your post run stretches very effective. Today I did this workout after my 10K Time Trial. It was pretty relaxed session as I gave all out effort during run. Appreciate your time and effort in helping the fellow runners. Have a great day. Thank you 👍
Thanks Ash! I appreciate the variety of strength workouts that you have so I don’t get bored. It’s helpful for me to notice how much harder the exercises are on my right side. I only manage one strength session a week with a toddler but that’s better than nothing
You're so welcome! Well done for doing this strength session and fitting it in, especially with a toddler!! Thank you for following along with me and commenting 🙏😊
Thabk you so much for this super understandable training! I absolutely loved that you guiged us through each position so clearly. I’m always a bit mweh about training videos where you are not guided through it. Especially for someone who just slowly started running and working out since a really long time, it feels really safe to do it like this instead of having no clue if I so it well. Thanks!
Thanks so much for that Mandy. It’s so nice to read. So glad it was helpful and you find my training understandable. I try to give people the understanding so they know there is a purpose to doing this strength work 😊
That’s great to hear 😊 so glad I could help you have a good strength session and you appreciate my explanations, thanks for following along with me and commenting 🙏🙌🏻
Thanks Ash. I did this in lieu of a warm up for a recovery run, and it seemed to work as such, so I'm going to try it for a few weeks. Some of the exercises are quite similar to the ones Stephen Scullion warms up with, and that's what gave me the idea to combine the two.
Sounds like a great idea Dave. Will definitely get your muscles active. I think that’s the marathon runner isn’t it? I’ve seen a couple of his videos training for Paris. The Ingebrigtsen documentary series on Amazon Prime is interesting to watch 😊
@@RunBetterwithAsh Yes, that's him. There's a video somewhere of his warmup in a gym. It's a bit chaotic but he walks around on this toes, does those bridge variations for hamstrings, and the marching. Anyway, it seems to combine a bit of gentle strength work with a warm up, so rather than do the strength training after a run, I'm saving time by doing it before.
love the video! I’m a basketball player but I enjoy doing and learning about how other athletes train and see if I can apply anything to my training. the glute bridge and hamstring hold were probably the toughest for me. My posterior chain is not the strongest. Also the calf raises and toe walks helped a lot because I’ve suffered from ankle sprains. But I really enjoyed the session overall and definitely plan to do this at least twice a week and check out other videos 🔥
OOhhh yessss loved this Ash - struggled to run past 2 weeks so your sessions have kept me sane and focused - loved this cheeky number !!Thanks so much 🏃♀🦾
My pleasure to keep you sane Ali, it’s getting into that season where it becomes a bit hectic doesn’t it!! Glad you loved this one, thank you for leaving a comment as you always do 🙏 have a great weekend 😊
Great work Jaime, it is a challenging routine this. As always, its the challenges that help us grow stronger so well done for doing this session and thanks as always for commenting 🙏
I just started to do fitness for legs, doing 8 exercises for 10 repetitions each, 3 series, all with weights. I hope that alone can help me get 10 sec faster pace per kilometer. I can hold 4:00 tempo average on 5 km, really hope i can become faster. Thank you for this exercises ✌️💯
i personally love the talking and lack of terrible EDM typical to RUclips workouts. Great video, thanks!
Awesome, thank you so much for that. I really appreciate your feedback as it gives me the confidence to keep talking 😂😊

That’s so great to hear my videos have helped you. Thanks for letting me know. Hope the time trial went well 👍🏻😊
@@RunBetterwithAsh It's my PR today. 38.33
I try to give people the understanding so they know there is a purpose to doing this strength work 😊
One of my favourites Ash. I have completed this routine a few times now.
Fantastic! Thank you so much Joann 🙏😊
Your best video yet! Thanks, very much, Ash.....
Thank you so much Bonnie 🙏😊
Great workout, I come back to it regularly. Thank you!!
You're so welcome, thank you too for that 😊
I did that session 7 times in the last 48 hours its great i love it
Oh wow! 🙌🏻
Thanks Ash! I love how easy to follow all your videos are and how you always explain why we're doing the exercises we're doing
That’s great to hear 😊 so glad I could help you have a good strength session and you appreciate my explanations, thanks for following along with me and commenting 🙏🙌🏻
Used this as the beginning of my recovery journey. Felt so good and I can't wait to implement this weekly and watch more of your videos!
That’s so great to hear, I’m glad I could help you have a good session😊 thanks for commenting to let me know🙏
Amazing! This is so helpful and easy to follow along. I love your style and all the explanations. Definitively adding this to my routine. Keep it up!
Awesome! Thank you so much for your kindness. So glad it was helpful for you. 😊
enjoyed this session thank you. Sharing with my running colleague
Thank you so much Andrew. I really appreciate that 🙏😊

Awesome! Thank you so much for your positivity in your comment. I appreciate that 🙏😊
Loved this workout! Thank you 🎉
Happy to help, thanks so much for commenting to let me know 😊
This video has been incredibly helpful in relieving my glute pain. Thank you for making such an amazing video!
Thank you so much. That’s so kind of you to say 😊
love the video!
That's awesome! Many many thanks for your detailed comment. I really appreciate it 👍🏻😊
OOhhh yessss loved this Ash - struggled to run past 2 weeks so your sessions have kept me sane and focused - loved this cheeky number !!Thanks so much 🏃♀🦾

Keep it up Denis and your legs getting stronger will definitely help 👍🏻😊
Perfect! Just what I was looking for. Thank you. Loved it. 👍
