Hey guys, apparently there are some troll bots posing as us and messaging people asking for money and information, and telling people they’ve won a prize.
We will never message you and ask you for any of those things. Never give your information out to people contacting you through a comment section on email. These bots have me blocked where I cannot see them, please report! Thank you! -Jess

I see them on several channels I watch. I always report! I think if lots of people report, it might encourage RUclips/Google to do as much as they can to eliminate the trolls. I had no idea that the trolls block the channel owner from being able to see them! Thanks for telling us that! I know a couple of RUclipsrs that will want to know about that! Good health and happiness to you and your family!

Oh the farmers market…The last several years of my daddy’s life, he was very sick because of diabetes and all the complications that can arise because of it. We live in central NC, and we made many, many trips to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill for appointments and hospital stays for Daddy. Since we had to come through Raleigh to get back home, whenever he felt good enough, we would stop at the state farmers market. I have so many memories of wheeling him around looking for produce. Daddy has been gone now for almost 23 years. Whenever I have visited the farmers market since then, it has always brought me so much peace. Maybe that is one of the main reasons I have a garden. I always tell others that it brings me closer to God, but I guess part of me feels Daddy there. ❤️ I love you and your family, Jess. Thank you for teaching this fifth grade teacher how to be a better gardener and steward of the earth.

I know exactly how you feel !
I named my garden " GUARDIANS GARDEN "
because when I'm out there I think of all my family & friends above and plant their specialty teaching. Gardening is much more memorable to me than what I may harvest in foods. " MY TIME " with nature and memories. 💖

Eating seasonally and locally has a benefit that I didn’t hear you mention. The produce tastes so much better and fresher than what you get in the stores. This sounds obvious to some of us but if you’ve never been to a market, you may not know this, especially tomatoes and fruit. We are blessed to have our markets year round. 🥰

It also gives you something to focus on when you “aren’t where you want to be.” But when you’re so focused on learning and growing, you don’t have time to be upset about what you don’t yet have! Love love love your videos, thank you for the time you spend investing and teaching people how to reconnect with their land!!

We are a very small farm just starting out and became a vendor at two local markets. The amount of support that you get from the other farmers and local community is absolutely amazing. We have learned so much in such a short time. We have also learned the impact of the power of community and the purpose behind it. Fantastic shoutout to the local farmers representing your community! We are just a small fish in a big pond hoping to one day create a tidal wave of supporting local.

Where we lived in Connecticut there was no way my parents could grow enough tomatoes or cucumber or certain fruits to support her canning. They found farmers out in the county at some markets & the larger roadside stands. They just tried to be careful to avoid reseller vendors.
I'm famous for living alone & coming home from the farmers market with 25 pounds of different varieties of tomatoes from 9 vendors😀

My tip for getting a bigger bang for your buck at farmers markets: Consider taking organ meats, bones, "oops" cuts, less popular parts. The bones and fish heads are exactly what you want for making broths. Sometimes producers are left with more organs than they can reasonably use. Mistakes happen, even with cutting meats. Some things just don't sell much, like beef cheeks or tuna collars. Being flexible and knowing what you can do with ALL parts of the animal can result in you having a lot of excellent nutritious food at a much lower cost.

Sweet Jess, That was a nice market.....minus the snakes!! There were some nice looking items there. Our Farmers Market consists of 3 farms. Each are people who live several miles from us. We all look out for one another, and swope veggies, jam, recipes, ect.... When we first moved here 5 years ago, one of the farmers came over, and said if we ever need food just ask. Every one of us here makes sure to plant extra when we can to help out and feed the elderly, and people who are short on food.

Union County Farmers Market in Blairsville, Georgia is the best. We have a barn for local produce (bulk and by the quart) and local farmers, a barn for local crafts and hand made items, a dog station, a covered bridge, a creek, a historical homestead, and a canning plant! It should be the standard for all farm markets!

The following comment has very little to do with the Contant of the video I just watched today. I wanted to let you know, Jess, that I grew Cuca melons and ground cherries for the first time this year. I saw the delight in Jeremiah‘s eyes whenever he had a ground cherry on your videos and decided I needed to try them. The delight that you have in Cuca melons encouraged me to grow them, too. I have just had my first harvest of both and have to say I am hooked! Thank you so much for introducing me to two delightful things I can easily grow and enjoy. Hey Jess, have you ever tried Malabar Spinach? It is a substitute for regular spinach during the summer. It is a vine and loves it hot and humid. It would do great for you since it gets HOT at your new farm. I live in the Western NC mountains and it is growing well here. Delicious! I eat most of my leafy veggies uncooked and it is awesome in salads. Might try it cooked with eggs and basil next.

I do love a good true Farmer's Market with a variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and sometimes seafoods, or meats as well as flowers, and crafts. Sad that in my community we have a "Farmer's Market" that is of the crafts, honey and herb variety but few if any vegetables or fruits. We live in the Mohave Desert where few farms exist. Gas prices make it hard for long distance farms to come.

I vend at farmers markets twice a week in the summer and 2-3 times a week in the winter - there is so much at the market! Most markets in my area will not let vendors sell anything that they haven't grown, raised, themselves or soured locally. Here in southern NH/ME I don't think the prices are that bad! I agree that you should get to know your farmer- I meal plan at the market and I can tell you, I don't spend alot!

I know I’m late by 2 months but NC has 4 state run farmers markets. 1. Raleigh 2. Charlotte 3. Asheville and 4. Colfax this one is between Greensboro, High Point and Winston Salem. Colfax is mine. It has 6 indoor markets anything from meat, eggs(unfortunately they need to be washed), fruit, veggies, honey (my favorite is Sourwood honey), and cottage market (which is sauce, chow chow, canned pickles, hot sauce, etc). On the weekend during spring-fall farmers can rent a space outside sell whatever they want. One farmer brought a farm truck full of orange watermelons and sold out by the end of the day.

On Tuesday Montrose, Iowa has a giant farmer's market. I am not sure which town does Wednesday or Thursday but Burlington, Iowa has a great she shed in a corn field that is open all the time starting in June. We moved from the city 2 years ago and we have been loving our new life. We have a beautiful veggie/flower garden but we can't grow what we would need for the year. Luckily one of our neighbors has a fruit and veggie stand at the end of our road. We have formed a friendship and now I have been ordering what we need through her. I followed your advice last year about forming connections and networking with others to get what you need. Sometimes I may pay a little bit more buying through her but I would rather support her farm than the big grocery store.

We learned that the bigger farms/ CSA would bring small baskets to market but you are able to order a bushel/ half bushel etc.. while there and they will pick it the day of bring it to the market ready to go for you. It’s awesome! Glad you had a great time at the farmers market.. I love going!

Great video Jess- I wish we had proper Farmers Markets here in our cities but we don't. So I will continue to grow my own. Yes I evidently I WON a Prize from you, but too smart for them as I knew it was a SCAM. Cheers Denise- Australia

I was looking on the Johnny's Seeds website today and looking at all the suggested fall seeds...
Lettuce, spinach, chard etc. And thinking.... these seem more like a summer variety.
Just me but I'd rather eat those lighter things during hotter days and my squash during colder days.
    God really has a crazy since of humor! ❤️ 💙 💜 💖

That's what I'm doing buying from farmers, and canning what I can. With our garden not doing the greatest. So this is what I'm doing right now. You just have to ask. Thank you for sharing. God Bless.

I so enjoyed this!!! We have no Farmers market really to speak of. It's sad. As a child I remember going and there were all kinds if different booths and fresh veggies. Now all there is, are third party sellers. Not the first grower. It's sad because there is a giant space where the city has set aside, but no farmers...😪😪😪 I wish I knew how to find our local farmers that sell their products..... TFS .🥰🥰🥰✌✌✌🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤

Last weekend I scored a huge box of romas for $20...and yes I made several batches of salsa....this weekend was kraut and another batch of peach jam and jalapeno jelly...all things from the smaller farmers at a better quality and better price than the larger farms...
