Jess when you told how you plant seeds and still come check the next day knowing that it's too soon that smile and laugh and look on your face made me say to myself "that is joy". So thankful that you share with us
I love that you got Iris from Schreiners! When I was in beauty school, I had a weekly client named Lois and we got to talking one day about flowers, and I mentioned that Irises were my very favorite since childhood. The next time she came in, she brought be a massive box of all different kinds of iris! I didn't put 2 and 2 together, but her last name was Schreiner! Lois Schreiner, and that was her iris garden! LOL I felt so silly for not knowing, but what a massively lovely gift!
I have been missing Daniel and have wondered how he is doing. Thank you for including him in this video. His music in your videos always bring such peace.
@@KareMom4 Same here! I've noticed she's been playing his stuff of late. Maybe she was all along & I just missed it, it's been known to happen. 🙄🤪🤣 It gives me so much joy when she plays his guitar picking in the background, it's part of what drew me to her channel. So many blessings all around! 😍🙏❤

I visited my very first farmers market Saturday morning! I bought local honey, home grown tomatoes, peaches, and nectarines... Everything is so delicious! Thank you for inspiring me to think outside the grocery store! Much love! ❤️
Yep, Jess, that's exactly what I do: I support our local farmers by buying from them, that which I cannot grow/raise myself. Boatloads of appreciation for local farmers!
@Roots and Refuge Farm It’s called “Mother of Millions” and it is an absolute beast! You have to really, really keep an eye on it. My girlfriend had it in a flower pot on her back porch and now she still has them popping up in between the bricks two years later. 😳
I agree 100%! Here in Australia it has become out of control in the bush and national parks - it is so hard to get rid of and has been listed as an ‘invasive and significant environmental weed’. That is in a hot, humid climate, similar to where you are I image. Please be careful!
It really did my heart good to see Daniel walking down your driveway! It was like seeing an old friend who had been away for a long time. I do so miss hearing his beautiful music being played on your channel. Hope he pulls up a chair, stays awhile, and picks his guitar awhile. May God bless Daniel's new venture! 😍😍😎😎🙏🙏
So glad you mentioned about dehydrating the tomato skins and then turning them into tomato powder. That's what I did last week when I made roasted tomato soup.
Jess, your blessings are so wonderful. Yesterday I went to Amish country with my friend. I came home with 3 pecks of tomatoes, one peck of sweet peppers, 1/2 peck of peaches (still harvesting here), 6 softball sized bell peppers for stuffing, and three acorn squash I will also stuff. I cut up tomatoes and roasted them overnight, then ran everything through the food mill, cooked it for several additional hours in the oven to make a thicker sauce, and preserved 8 quarts of sauce. I also saved the skins which are in the dehydrator to make my own paste. The peppers are diced and in the freezer for winter meals, I also grated 2 gallons of zucchini for additions to food over the winter. I have a couple minor things to get finished this week, but the major stuff is done, the kitchen is relatively clean (dishwasher ran 3 times today), and my sons got their first ever seafood boil today. We even cut the leftover corn off the cob to freeze for cottage pie this winter. I also did a restock on my spices, and discovered I had many of them restocked in my own cupboard. Dear nephew and I combined everything, labeled and placed them in mason jars. I think my staples are ready for winter, even if I'm not. Tomorrow is my first day of school with students. I received one new one over the summer, so this week will be a challenge as we acclimate to one another. (I teach special education to kiddos with autism and co-morbid disorders - and if they are in my room, they probably have a significant behavior or six). I probably overdid it this weekend with preservation, but I'm loving seeing jars and bags fill and be preserved for my family if there is a crisis. I'll get good rest tonight, and tomorrow will be fabulous! I haven't gotten much from my garden at all this year. My tomatoes look lovely, but haven't produced a single fruit. I've had a few small peppers, but nothing consistent. I've gotten 3 butternut squash that aren't yet ripe, and 2 baby melons that aren't ripe. Thank goodness my herbs have been consistent this summer. I'm harvesting, drying and storing tea. I wish you bright blessings!
Several friends have not had the normal results from their gardens that they usually do. Seems like something is off this year. My garden did mostly wonderful. I shared the extra abundance with them and canned what I could.
Ol Daniel has been workin out! He’s lookin’ good 😊 Been wondering about him a lot, then saw his new video a few days ago. Glad to see your old friend at your new farm!
Jess, just a heads up, I am in Sumter S.C. and I believe we are gonna have an early winter, my 50year old black walnut is dropping its leaves now and it is never wrong.
Wow! I love that insight. We are in the “midlands” of NC. I don’t remember this kind of weather in August here either, and I have been here most of my life. We have to pay attention to our plants. Sometimes they know more than we do. Thank you for the heads up!
@@mlee7037 Piedmont NC here and I was telling my family in the beginning of summer that I felt it was going to be an earlier, colder, wetter winter than we have had in several years and the signs seem to be pointing that way, for sure. I found a bag of tomatoes from last year buried in the freezer yesterday. My kids and husband now always describe store-bought tomatoes as tasting like disappointment. 😄 I only peel my tomatoes for canning whole, halved or diced tomatoes. I use an immersion blender because it is fast and we don't mind the peels in tomato sauce or salsa. A couple of years ago I started coring and quartering tomatoes and putting them in the freezer after you talked about coring and scoring them. Today, after planting 40 tomato plants I finally had enough to do some canning today. First, my mini-harvest only made 3 jars WTH. My favorite person to walk this earth, Daniel!!!!
OH, MY HEART! Thank you for including Daniel in this video. How ironic, I watched one of your older videos recently, and it got me wondering how he was doing! 💛
Oh my! How good to see Daniel's sweet face!!! I always say old friends are the absolute best!!!!! Glad for y'alls joy!!!
I loved mixing lemon basil and lime basil to make tea with local honey OMG
And made several types of basil teas and one of my friends loved them all
Oh my goodness, Daniel...what a joyous surprise.
Aw... sweet man Daniel!!! Missed seeing his face. Hope he is well! Sending light and love your way!
I had to buy tomatoes at the farmer's market this year also. I'm disappointed I don't have my own, but I'm glad to support local farmers.
Your succulent is Mother of Millions. They are so super cool! Very prolific.
Daniel has a bass voice like Don Williams had. It was beautiful and soulful.
