Back in the late 80's my next door neighbor's mom would not let her 14 year old son buy and/or listen to this because she thought it was about devil worship. She was very religious, she saw the title, never read the lyrics, and just assumed the master was the devil. I explained the meaning of the song to her and it did not help because then she thought her son would get involved with drugs. Can't fix stupid.
Well, Moms my age, which means she saw a generation lost to the drug epidemic which was meth at that time...😢 luckily youth like you can learn the dangers and avoid them from this epic metal masterpiece. Never forget driving to San Francesco to get this album the morning it was released and listening to it on the Bay Bridge on the way back home in my friends car... Good Times😜
I was alive and well at the time. Meth wasn't a thing in the 80s. It's everywhere now. Cocaine was the big thing in the 80s. It's what this song is about, not meth.
Love how your mom being familiar with that filth caught on the lyrics that quick AND the rythm change for the phases of chase, high, down and chase again.
Keep it up buddy! There is a lot of Metallica to share. Great job by the way! I have been a Metallica fan since I was 15 years old. I am now 52 and still love them to this day. I look forward to seeing more reactions!
I loved you guys' reaction. I never put all that together, never really new the lyrics. I would really like to see you guys react to one of Metalica's biggest influences Black Sabbath. They also have songs warning against drugs. One is a kind of fun song called "Fairies Wear Boots", and a more serious song called "Hand of Doom". Try it and see if you like it, because actually Black Sabbath was one of the biggest influences on heavy metal. Thanks again.
@@trickshotsmoviesandcubing2317 Thanks for responding, glad to know you like Black Sabbath, a lot of younger people I know don't really like them. A lot of people have the wrong idea of what they're about.
@@JefferyJaynes yep, they're my favorite 70's band! I agree abt the misunderstanding, ppl don't realize that someone can sing abt Satan without singing in favor of him
@@trickshotsmoviesandcubing2317 Remember though, there's more about God in their music than satan. There's a story about that.
