Snakes in the grass no trust am
Point and kill any impostor
Want me to appear

Smooth travel never stuck in customs
That’s in any city you can come and see it with me
Reality will hit you cos not everywhere is pretty
But for now bring the Naira come gimme
Can’t stop greatness what the point in trying
Hard not to recognise with all this pressure we applying
Tell me people rise up can never be silenced
You think were apologetic I think were defiant
Mummy say I gotta be a go go getter
Got the devil tryna temp me but I know better
Never been the type to not acknowledge all the signs
Its a fact that everything I want is in front of my eyes
So when I see it I
Point and kill
If I want it

References to Djibril Diop Mambéty’s Touki Bouki (1973) in shots with artists on the bike. Its a classic Senegalese film set in Dakar, a kind of stylish African Bonnie and Clyde. Big up the artistic director for bringing it to attention of new generation, and defo check it out if you can!
Yes, loved that, and Cristo Rey (2013) at the end!!!
Thank you very much for telling this!
Thank you for this! I'm Senegalese but born in Australia, so I've never heard of this. Gonna check it out :)
Yeah I noticed!!!!
I knew it reminded me of something, I was wondering if it was The Harder they Come but no. So much great art comes out of Senegal!
this shit SOOOO FIRE
oh my god its you! this shit bangs.
Good shit mula

Yessirrr, please rap on a beat similar to this one!

I love the groove.
I love the simplicity.
I love this record.

She said " on my bad days I'm like jayz on my worse I'm like William Shakespeare..u had me at hello love ❤️
As a Nigerian this hit different to me. Everything about it makes me super proud. I feel ashamed that I am only just hearing this, can't wait to share it with my friends. Much love from Canada.
facts!!
As a white man (no one cares, I know)
This is easily going to be one of my most played tracks of 2023, I can already tell. I love the feeling this song gives me. I've replayed it 4 times dancing in my room vibing.
This album is so good. Little Simz is a beaut.
this is not Nigeria bro, we’re suffering in real life
Greetings from Poland, great song
each time i play it everyone will be like is it cavemen, id laugh and say no is Little simz and i will also recommend Enny to them
Let's all pause, and give praises to the Father of this music, Fela Kuti!!!
No let’s talk about lil simz
@@liray6973 Umm... she's clearly giving praise to FELA KUTI in this song.
Everybody say yeah yeah !!

The progression of Simz man. I haven’t felt this good listening to music since to pimp a butterfly.
THIS. I been thinking about this since Introvert dropped
So so agree!
In a similiar boat
she's done it all bro, cant wait to see what she'll do when she 50
Literally been listening to to pimp a butterfly all day… this album must’ve triggered my need to hear it again lol. Too damn soulful!
It's people like her that keep England alive.
I feel a strange disappointment, not from this music, but from knowing this is probably the only thing I'll find today that will hit like this. I am an instant fanatic, at the deepest level. Please, please, please never stop. This shit is absolutely next level.
Yes finally music I have to keep listening to
Listen to the rest of the album! Obongjayar's discography, Little Simz's discography. This album is so good, and both artists are amazing!
At least WE have this now!
Good tastes, waluigi
haven't seen a visual this culturally refreshing in a while. the samples are totally not unrecognised. Great work simz and obong 🕺🏽

This album isn't even out and it's going to be a classic. Every song is different and knocks it out of the park. Just got turned onto her with the tracks from this album and I'm a steadfast fan now.
Grey Area was an awesome project I'm sure the album will be best of year !
@Mad Sadiq This is really good! Just sent to some of my friends and going to check out more of your work. Where are you from? 🙏🏼

You need to go thru her catalogue. You will be a whole air conditioner by next week. Simz is different!
As a Nigerian, I am so so proud of Little simz❤️
Same here ugh🥹🥹❤️❤️
Wow, I'm blown away. This is Art! A perfect blend of some many genres yet with it's own originality! The horns, the retro funky 60s fashion, the screenplay concept, spoken word-esque rap lyrics, everything. Fela and James Brown would be pleased! I hope Little Simz and Obongjayar keep this style up!
The Fela Kuti influence is so strong in this song. Also love the homage to the picture of a Haitian mother protecting her son at the end!!
Couldn't have said it better
Heh, I thought of Fela Kuti as soon as she said "you can't use my water".
"T'o ba fe lo we omi l'o ma'looooo.
If you want go wash, a water you go uuuse."
I was thinking the same,,aß a Fela addict since 40years now, l can hear the groove, and l was waiting for that something New came up from Nigeria, This is the New afrobeat l love, trough musician, just pure music,,l love it
Only that she is a woman and support women whereas Fela kuti said that women have no worth but own them and have sex with them.
It's sad that big personalities in all part of the world often have also a dark side with them. Maybe it's because last century society was still so brutaly sexist we cannot even imagine...
Love it❤
Oh, my God, she's such a queen.
A king 🤴

Of what?:)))
She's pretty fuckin special alright
This is one of the most powerful songs to come out recently, and it BEYOND INCREDIBLE!
I'll repeat myself as many times as possible - this song but also video is an absolute masterpiece. I can't find the words - or rather I can't find words beneath 30.000 words... The colors, screenwork, lighting, camera... Stunning.
Bro got the simz heart
I watched this three times in a row. The cinematography and styling is quirky and chic. I love Simz's updo it is gorgeous.
I love the music, Obongjya has a beautiful voice and Simz's flow makes the world go round.
This music does not ask for permission to groove you..the music just grabs you and make you groove. I am sitting up here watching the video and the next thing I know my body just started grooving.
Well done ya'll.
I know, talk about symbiosis - everything about this is 🔥! Xx
I wouldn't use "quirky" to describe it 😁

Thats how i feel too... Her music is AMAZING!!! PERIOD!!! And im American lol
I comment something like this on EVERY Simz video I comment on
rapper? more like musician.
@@jl4414 you could say that too but people love to separate rappers and female rappers when in this case it shouldn’t be the case
Simzzzzz is so underrated in my opinion! I’m still introducing her to people who don’t know about her brilliance 🤯
This jam hits different the first time you hear it 😭😭🔥
I recognize where she got her inspiration from (Touki Bouki - Journey of the Hyena and that famous black and white photo of a woman holding up a cutlass (machete) to a police man's neck. Great imagery is reincorporated in this music video. This is art.
You are a man of culture 🔥
Very interesting! Does that photo have a title, or some way I could find it?
Touki Bouki, yes! Don't know of the photo you mentioned but would love to see it
@@lorenzaii The image is from a movie named Cristo Rey.
One of the best movies ever. People slept on the brilliance of Senegalese cinema from the 60s and 70s.
Getting some serious Fela Kuti vibes from this. Absolutely brilliant!
You know it!
I thought the same thing...the theme of Afika in the 1970s..and that Fela Kuti Afrobeat vibe...nice
Same
Africans in America missed all this!? And they think Hip~Hop is dead. Back in the 70's we got Osabisa, Many Dibanga, and other African funk, RESPECT!!
Method Man spoke on her on his Drink Champs interview and now im HOOKED!!!!!!! She's so flipping talented and lyrical, i'm a superfan already.
"Sometimes I might be introvert" is seriously one of the greatest albums I've ever listened to and now getting blessed with all of these beautiful mvs? Couldn't be happier, Little Simz has got it, pure talent
SIMBI is top 10 albums ever tbh
imagining the bass player/producer's face when they first laid down this absolute stanker of a bass line. filthy! love it.

Bass so stank, I asked an empty room, who farted! Masterpiece!
Keep it nappy and do what makes u happy...and more than anything, SPEAK LIFE.

The amount of young girls seeing little simz succeed and being inspired to want to keep following their dreams IS UNBELIEVABLE! THANK YOU SIMZ YOU SAVED MY CHILDHOOD SPIRIT FOREAL
I 100% agree, and that she's not advising girls to become "slay queens", and she herself isn't in her videos dressed like an ashawo. Nothing in what she's saying or wearing is rubbish, she's a correct one
Not ashamed to admit I'm obsessed with this song. It's infectiously groovy.

I can't explain how good this is, even if I tried. Visuals, vocals, lyrics, finesse. No one coming close to Simz forever!

This is a masterpiece visually and musically. Definitely a nod to Fela and Nigerian rich culture. So many rich colours loved the styling everything was intentional. The messaging had so many levels to it. The expectations of our parents, the corrupt with politicians and police. The symbolic nature of the cutlass and the unapologetic Black Love is beautiful if we move has a unit message. Black people and expression is not a monolith. It also gave me Queen & Slim vibez at the end it’s us against the system. It was dope but l expected to be ,very blaxploitation inspired, bloody here for it ❤️🤗🎬💫🎼🌍✊🏾
The system is against all of us besides some 1% of superrich. Don’t you think we should unite and fight this fight together?
