Yeah. It's capturing that Music2000 sound that was on a lot of the early dubplates before Grime was even called Grime. None of em had studios or access to em unless you was part of the Garage or DnB scenes, so a lot of the beats were made on the Playstation in Music 2000, or just GM MIDI from whatever soundcard they had sequenced with a cracked copy of Fruity Loops 1 or 2 and a lot of the beats where inspired by console music. Pretty obvious a lot of the Eski shit, Danny Weed etc as one example is inspired by the music in the first Crash Bandicoot.
This has become one of my life long favourite tracks.
No matter where it lands on my 7600 playlist it punches me forward on the volley.

Uh, damn. As an old guy who generally thinks hip-hop from between 1990 and, oh, 1995 is pretty much the only hip-hop worth listening to (with a few exceptions), I'm blown away. Grey Area is an amazing album.
