Oh my goodness, I am so sorry. Will the hospital write it off as bad debt or what's happening? If helpful, give us a call at 833-272-3631 to chat about options.
It took 3-4 years before they came after me. I went to court. I paid Pennies on the dollar. Also, don’t be a slave to a credit score. It’s pointless. All credit does, is put you in debt. It’s not hard to show up to the courthouse and just tell the mediation “hey I’m broke”. You will pay maybe 30% and or make small payments
Great point! You can try to negotiate on the debt to get it down and then rebuild after. Getting out of debt as cheap and quick as possible is the goal for a lot of people.
File for charity care with the hospital and or speak to a medical bill negotiator. We make sure insurance pays what they’re supposed to and the doctor/hospital is billing appropriately.
They charged me 600 for the same exact thing. But I've since moved states so they can have fun taking me to court for nothing 😂. Even if they get a judgement they don't know where I work or live so they won't get paid
@@AscendFinance yep 3 separate bills. I have ignored them for 1yr 6months now. I'll pickup calls to put them on hold and of the couple times I've talked I just told them I'm homeless and unemployed (which neither are true) They've basically given up. Not even a ding on my credit.
@@mikeschmidt3382 for instance. a payment wasn't made for two years, there is five years left until it falls of your credit. if you make a payment at two years the clock is reset to seven again.

Should negotiation be over phone, email, or by mail? Also, when a deal is finally reached, what should I request from the collection agency to make sure they hold up their end of the deal? Should I pay with cashiers check and get the letter with the payment notarized? You didn't cover anything of this....
Great questions! Usually people will call on the phone when negotiating. You should get all agreements in writing if you can so you'll want to make sure both parties have a letter with the full agreement detailed. You will want to ask the creditor how they want to receive the funds (bank account, check, etc.) but most people will try to get a return receipt for everything like the letter of agreement or if they send a check.
It can stop you from getting credit which could impact something so essential as renting an apartment. I was lost in space for years. ‘Thank God for Jesus’ my Mama used to say - and for Medicare and Extended Medicaid.
