- In 1993, the Ford Mustang's base price was $12,847, while the Mustang GT Convertible 2D started at $22,662. It was known by driver reviews as a car that was fun to drive, small and compact, responsive, and easy to work on. This third generation Mustang was produced by Ford from 1979-1993, and built on Ford's Fox platform, it was commonly known as a Foxbody. In 1993, available trim levels included L, GL, GLX, LX, GT (1982-1993), Cobra (1979-81,1993), and Cobra R (1993). In November 1993, the Mustang debuted its first major redesign in fifteen years. Code-named "SN-95" by the automaker for 1994-1998, it was based on an updated version of the rear-wheel drive Fox platform called "Fox-4." The new styling by Patrick Schiavone incorporated several styling cues from earlier Mustangs. For the first time since 1974, a hatchback coupe model was unavailable.
This footage is from the assembly of the last 1993 Mustang.
The 1964 Mustang created a stampede in American showrooms similar to the frenzy created by the Beatles. Ford had conducted a series of "gallup" polls to see what baby boomers wanted in a car . . . the Mustang was it. Men, women, the old and young couldn't wait to get in the saddle of a pony car. Just a short three years after the Mustang's unveiling at the New York World's Fair, the one millionth Mustang trotted off the assembly line. The Mustang was the inexpensive sporty car the world was waiting for.

Still smoking on the assembly line. Love it!
I bought a brand new 92 Jade green LX 5.0 5 speed notchback. Fantastic little bomb of a car. Neat to think it may have passed right through this station.
The scene is so American!!
Last model season for Ford's lllrd-Gen. M'stng (1993). This gen. ran for 15 successive m'dl seasons (1979 thru 1993)
German-built Volkswagen Karmann Ghia ran for 20 successive model seasons (1955 thru 1974) without being re-designed
