They got a horn in 1973, and used it until 79, then switched to just the siren until they switched back to the horn in 83. Song 2 was only used from 2001-03, before using R&RP2 in 03-04. In 05-06, they used Shook Me All Night Long. Also left out the personal goal songs from 2003-09
There is a lot confusion about the evolving sound of the Chicago goal horn. I'm going to need out here to.gibe a technical breakdown on why. 1. The horn from.the Wirtz yacht is still the same one from 1973 when Bill Sr. Installed it during the cup final against the Habs. 2. The 4 funnels of the horn each produce a different frequency (note) when combined make a D minor 7th chord. 3. The compressor to the horn was given more power in 86 to make it louder which would later have undesired consequences to its frequencies and loudness as it would gradually warp the manifolds of the metal in the middle frequency tubes. 4. Depending on the where you sat in the Chicago Stadium or the United Center you would experience more of the tube most directly in front of you. 5. This also was the case depending on the broadcast and where their ambient microphones were places. For example if you watch 1990's CBC games between the Hawks and Leafs, their sound feed is from almost directly across the 2nd lowest frequency tube giving the horn a far deeper timbre and bass sound. 6. That same tube has now become distorted and rattles due to the metal fatigue and extra compression giving the horn an overall higher pitch losing its low end bias. So yes it is the same horn, and its sound has changed due to age and entropy and some different mic placements over the years. Still the OG of hockey horns and still the best in my opinion even after almost 50 years of goals!
@@pyryhillosalo That's an observation I made once, which is why the A-flat is louder than the B and the F horns, because there's 2 A-flat horns, side note, the 4 horns the Sabres use (they were the 2nd team to use a goal horn) are all the same as the Hawks, except there's one A-flat horn, there's a B horn, an F horn, and the 4th one is D-flat, and B is the main horn. Sometimes, depending on where the microphone is, the A-flat horns will sound like they're warping, that's my 2 cents.

Two of the horns play the same note.
