    Boy am I glad I watched this. I just lofted the transom based on the numbers from the table of offsets and that's it. I was going to cut it tonight. Good thing I checked!

      Stoked that we helped you in any small way! Good luck with your transom. Whatchya building?

      @@neophyteboatwrights I'm building Paul Gartside's 10 foot clinker. Your New Foundland trap skiff is very similar in a lot of ways, so your videos are way more useful than just in small ways.

    I am glad I found your channel before I started building my boat.
    Do any of you guys like mathematics? I like the way how you explain things from first principles in a similar way to mathematics.

    Hi guys. Very nice video. Thanks for sharing this with us!
    I've been following the whole series and it's talked a lot about lofting. This alone already is amazing. But I have a question.
    You guys have a relatively small boat. How boat builders deal with lofting a much bigger boat? Do they use the same process of transfer the boat drawings to a full scale?

    • @neophyteboatwrights
      @neophyteboatwrights  3 года назад

      Yes absolutely! If youre interested in seeing larger examples check out the acorn to arabella project, the sampson boat co project, or for the biggest of all the sail cargo project. All three have done massive loftings for their builds/restorations

      @@neophyteboatwrights thanks for the answer! I'm going to check that out.
      See you guys in the next episode

    How did you get such bendy battens?

    • @neophyteboatwrights
      @neophyteboatwrights  Год назад

      Depends. Very thin softwood battens can take a mean bend but they end up not sprinting back. Others claim a hardwood batten is the way to go for tight curves. But for me, when negotiating really tight bends, I use a band saw blade.

      @@neophyteboatwrights I showed my boat building instructor your bandsaw blade idea and he loved it. XD thank you!
