    Superb edit Jamie! Wish you had made this 12 months ago before I started my channel.
    So the DJI is light years ahead in low light stabilisation and sound. Thought the GoPro colour standard settings was more vibrant but I would be amending in editing anyway so hard to see where the GoPro wins really. I’m really intrigued by the magnetic attachment. I carry 2 cameras at present. A hero 11 mini in the chesty as I thought this helped with wobble as it’s lighter and a hero 10 set in linear view for other shots. 1 camera solution would be ideal so I’m defo intrigued.

      Thanks for the feedback Jon. I've been kind of blown away by the Osmo Action 4. Even the audio, which has had some criticism, is really good. And for me, the one camera solution is a game changer. You know what a faff multiple cameras or detaching mounts is. For an MTB content creator, the OA4 makes a load of sense 👌

    I've been buying every single GoPro since the 5. I got screwed really hard recently with the GoPro. I ordered the 11th and right after that the 12 came out so I sent the 11 back. They acknowledged receipt of the 11th. But refuse to refund my money because it was outside the refund. Buy a couple of days. I thought with my bank to get my money back. I got it back and then GoPro charge me again and of course they got the money back and here I am out 486 and still no GoPro. With that I'll probably never buy a GoPro again. And this all started because I had a hero 8 that broke and I'm paying for that warranty protection thing I paid $100 sent them the hero 8 with a cracked screen and I never got anything in return. So I got screwed twice back to back by an India call scam center is basically how they operate.

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  4 месяца назад

      Aw mate. That's terrible.
      I had a similar thing with the Hero 9. It was the first camera I bought new from them and has terrible crackling and popping on the audio.
      I sent it back and got a new one... Exactly the same issue (it was a known fault on the early 9s). I went through this process 4 times! 4 new cameras, every one with audio issues.
      After the 4th I asked for a full refund and they refused. So I went through my credit card and got my money back that way. My credit card company said that GoPro had to let me return it under EU laws at the time so I got a refund from my credit card company, not GoPro I may add.
      Thankfully the 10 I bought a year later was faultless. But it was a crap experience and why I loath the Hero 9.

    • @BentonL
      @BentonL 4 месяца назад

      @@streetpigeonmtb I sent the 8 in and they were suposedly going to upgrade me to the 9 for the deductible. I had to send out the 8 first. The never sent out the 9. My 8 still worked but had a cracked screen. After fighting that for a year and getting no where they had a sale on the 11. I ordered the 11, and 2 days later the 12 came out. I tried to cancel the order before it was shipped to no avail. 3 weeks later I got the 11. I did the return process cuz the 12 was the same price as the 11. They got the 11 back, but claimed it was received outside the return period. They did not send the 11 back. So here I am am screwed out of 2 camera and the money.
      The cams ask for you to log into an account so they could easily prove if I had the cam or not. Sucks a multi billion dollar company can be so petty and dishonest. They lost a life time customer. Now with all the other options available it easy to use someone else. I am on the fence with getting an insta 360.

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  3 месяца назад

    Interesting video. I guessed wrong but would be happy with either. Camera A looked warmer and sounded clearer but camera B looked more linear. I'm a bit surprised by the low light performance of the GoPro, though - I use a Hero 9 for my rides and I've never noticed issues like this. I'd even be inclined to say anything from a 9 onwards would be fine for most people (especially since YT's bitrates will be a limiting factor). Having said that, 12's are available for under 250 now so I'm kinda tempted 😂

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks man. Yeah, I'd say if people were keen on the GoPro then go with the 10 onwards as the 7, 8 and 9 were all effectively the same camera - same chipset anyways. The 10 was a noticeable performance step and had next to perfect reliability. I don't have anything bad to say about the 10 👌
      What I would say to people is be aware of the trails they will be filming. Lowlight issues have always been an issue for me because we ride through densely packed plantations. This meant I couldn't film many trails in the winter months. However, if you are not going to have that issue both brands are great.
      Finally, what a great time for consumer tech. Modern cameras are pretty amazing. It's DJI for me because of the lowlight and sound. But both cameras are fantastic 👌

    Really interesting video, after just buying a Hero10 (thank you for your help with the settings by the way) all the way through the video I was preferring Camera A, not by a huge amount but definitely agreed it was better.
    Was surprised to see that was the DJI.
    Flipping typical that I’ve just bought a GoPro 😂
    That said, my Hero 10 is still great since you helped me set it up and cost me £120 less than a new DJI or Hero12 … so for the amateur… the GoPro still gets my vote

    No one ever seems to discuss the color science of GoPro. It’s really good and in my eyes, beats the DJI ACTION. However, I know a lot of people grade.

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  4 месяца назад +2

      Yeah. They really sorted it on the Hero 10 with the 'natural' mode. Before then it was super saturated.
      Like you say, a lot of of folks just film in DLog and add a LUT in after. The reality is that when you do that the colours you get from both cameras are unreal.

    I prefer the GoPro out the box simply for the basic colour settings. I found the osmo seemed to be washed out and dull even with more light into the sensor, however both of these cameras when set up correctly are almost on a par, with the osmo edging ahead on extreme low light. Battery life on the osmo makes it the more accessible of both, however if you don’t mind carrying extra batteries, I’d be going with the GoPro

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  4 месяца назад

      Yeah, they are great cameras. It's the DJI for me as so much of what I ride is in lowlight. I also love how good you can get the lowlight footage on the DJI using the pro settings 👌

      The 10bit sensor needs a little bit of colour grading work in post production, especially when shooting in D-Log M. Doesn’t take too long but it completely outshines the gopro after imo

    Recently returned my OA4 for a GP11. I’m not 100% sure it was the right choice as in the darker bit of the woods you can certainly see the GoPro having to reduce its shutter speed right down causing a bit of a blur. Outside of the dark areas I still prefer the GP though. Just seems to retain more detail in the trail and grass than the OA which also seemed to show signs of over exposure on outside of frame. I don’t like the fact the GP can get quite hot, I believe one of the more recent OA4 firmwares reduces the max operating temp of the OA4 in the EU. Be interesting on a warm do to see if that decreases recording time at all.
    Love the DJI mounting system (just purchased the third party DJI mount for the GP. Also like it’s slightly smaller form factor plus its ability to de warp wide angle images as well. I think GoPro need to wake up, it was only the inclusion of the GPS in the GP11 (and 360 lock up to 5.7k) that swayed me for sure back to GoPro (don’t want to spend another £70 on a remote!) plus on deal at the moment the GP11 is £40 cheaper!
    Really wanted the OA4 to work for me as I have one of their drones it would have made the workflow and colour profiling easier.

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  3 месяца назад +1

      Yeah, gutted you couldn't get it to work. I've got a DJI drone as well, so now I can film in DLog on both and just use the DJI LUTs to save me grading. Has made my workflow easier which is great.

    Great video only reason I stayed with GoPro is I have all the fittings, but I do like the idea of a magnet but how strong is it In a crash ( you don't need to test it ) and if detached how would you find it?

    • @streetpigeonmtb
      @streetpigeonmtb  4 месяца назад +1

      It has clips as well as the magnet. The magnet just helps you locate it but at least half the strength comes from the clips. I'd be pretty certain a force that took it off would prob snap a mount on any setup. Although I ain't testing it! 😆
