I made mine with the MDF extended like you suggested at the end, it's s great help and expands the usefulness. I've made some jigs to hold lathe tools and while it's better than freehand, i think some kind of bar attachment would work better, at least for some of the tools.

Gary thanks for your video. I bought the ws3000 to sharpen chisels and got a lathe figuring i could sharpen lathe chisel on it, only to be disappointed to find they had discontinued the attachments. Now with your solution to the problem I'm a happy camper again

@@larrylambright6631 Thanks. I am considering selling it. I've thought to sell on eBay to see what it would garner. Contact me at Gary@GLCrafts.com

Hi Gary. Thanks for a great video. Quick question. I have been liking at the Worksharp vs the Wen Tormek knockoff. Since you have used both systems which way would you go if you were just starting out? I need to sharpen same kinds of tools as you.

Thank you. My first serious sharpener was the Worksharp 3000. The Wen grinder is more expensive than the Worksharp 3000. With both units you will need some accessories for various kinds of sharpening. A lot of accessories are interchangeable between the different sharpeners. I've bought a lot of Tormek accessories as they seem more versatile.
I tend to use my Worksharp 3000 more often than my Tormek. It's just quicker and easier. Some may argue against me on that. I'm more familiar with the Worksharp. Perhaps if I use the Tormek more I would favor that. It depends on what you learn to use. I go to the Worksharp most the times, but the Tormek (or Wen) will give a more precision sharpening. 👍

Thank you. When I started my first power sharpener was the Worksharp 3000. Starting again today, I would still start with that.

I would like to build this work station, but I need a link to download the plans. Unless I have plans, I tend to "freestyle" useless changes. BTW, your videos and 'how-tos' are excellent.

Thank you! I bought my plans from Stumpy Nubs yrs ago at the link I list in my video descriptions. I modified it to suit my needs. Unfortunately, due to copyrights, I cannot republish his plans. His plans are available for relatively cheap. Last time I checked it was $5.
From Stumpy's plans I made changes as I described in my videos.
Here are my hand drawn sketches for my vr#3 of this workstation.
