CH. OTCHX Violet Sky Over Montana and Owen Sopotiuk competing in Utility at the Golden Retriever Club of B.C. All Breeds Obedience Trial, March 21, 2010. Scored 191.5.
Yes this is in Canada, under the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club). What I do with my left leg is to give Montana a little push. As you can see Montana moves slowly in the ring the leg push is part of a game/play routine we do (push and chase). I do a very small version in the ring to try and keep him up.
Thanks for posting! Love your dog! I have two Standards ... and a third one now deceased. Ive trained them all and working on Novice for my 11 month old puppy. Thanks I for the inspiration.
My corgi got his CD, but only barely. He does amazing obedience work when we are practicing, but once we get in the ring, he knows I can't make him listen. He lags and doesn't sit. We went to tons of seminars to try to make him mind, but nothing works. He isn't play or toy motivated, only food. He is a rescue, and the people who owned him when he was a puppy just threw him out in the yard. The only interaction he had was to have food and water poured in a bowl, so he doesn't know how to play. He's nine years old now, so I've retired him. He did good for me. Many years of 4-h shows, AKC showmanship shows, his CGC, RN, and CD. Yay, Kiffyn!
What country is this? Is B.C. British Columbia, so it would be Canada? I know AKC doesn't have the article retrieve with the heeling, and neither does UKC. What is it that you are doing with your left leg after each exercise? It looks like it is going over the dog.
I have a big Belgian Malinois x St. Bernard mix. He is 6 years old and weighs about 100 pounds. He hasn't had a lot of obedience training. I've tough him to sit, roll over and speak, but other than that, he really doesn't know a whole lot. He's a very hyper and active dog, and he's hard-headed. Can someone please message me on tips and such on how I would teach him to pay more attention to me and my commands instead of on everything else? It would be MUCH appreciated.
Its not really lazy, its more methodical/deliberate. At least that is how my poodle does everything. For example, unlike the labs in his dock diving class, he likes to think about it before jumping in
I just love how your dog sorta cruises, not slow but not in any rush its adorable!
Przepiekny pies i fantastycznie posluszny.Gratulacje.
Dzięki

That dog is so graceful. Its really fun to watch.
Unbelievable obedience! You must have worked hundreds and hundreds of hours with your beautiful dog. Nicely done.

I'll be starting Obedience trials myself later this year, though my dog is new to it. Any tips for starters?

I'm so used to seeing Malinois and GSDs. Seeing this lazy poodle was kinda comical. He did really great though.

Standard poodles are never lazy.
The poodle sits up so straight... O.O
