Incredible dog tricks performed by my best friend: a Border Collie named Nana! From footstalls, to walking front paw handstands, to running backwards, Nana does it all.
All of Nana's training is done exclusively with positive reinforcement and clicker training. Nana chooses to do all the behaviours in this video, and when she performs a trick, she is rewarded with lots of praise, toys, and treats. She loves what she does, and to her, "training" is all just a big game we play together!
My goal with my training is to show the world that anything can be achieved with positive reinforcement! Remember always to use positive training methods with your dog.
No video is sped up or reversed. Nana just likes to perform her tricks fast, and she really is walking backwards.

Anyone that dislikes this video for any reason obviously has never owned a border collie. I have 2 and believe me when I say that all these dogs want to do is work and please it's owners. They are too smart for their own good and are extremely neurotic! Best dogs on the entire face of the planet!!
My son was about 18 months old when we went somewhere that we needed him quiet for a couple of minutes. We searched RUclips for a video with a dog (he loves dogs); it came up with Nana. He turned 2 today, and doesn't have many words yet, but he does clearly ask for "Nana" and points to the phone or computer to ask to see your wonderful dog!! He laughs and dances while he watches her! She's adorable!!!

The thing I love most about this video is that Nana is clearly having tons of fun learning and performing these tricks. Nothing better than a happy pupil!

I am not a dog person, but WOW!! Nana is a BRILLIANT dog, and you can tell she is well loved, the joy she expresses doing the tricks, and her tail wag..she's won my heart!
Like wow...still wiping tears from my eyes...I have had border collies over the years but sadly not now for 16 years... video brought everything back.
None of these moves are a result of cruelty I will confirm, the breed loves to interact. I am a builder & upon occasions my Collie, Winston, would clim a ladder onto scaffolding to be along side of me such is their desire to be with me... he had to be carried back down upon my shoulders. Many other things he invented himself...Thank you so much.

Wow Nana is incredibly beautiful and intelligent. Her facial expression when she looks at you is almost as if she is capable of all the human emotions and feelings. She has such a wonderful spirit to her it's so remarkable.

My friend raises border collies for sheep and cow herding, and I've seen them do some impressive things, like jumping over fences and into pickups and running a specific direction around a herd of sheep and laying down on the spot instantly. Amazing dogs, border collies.

The coffee table trick is a fun and colourful way for the dog to practise impulse control. This is the same concept behind the "treat balance & catch" trick, as well as halting on cue whilst chasing after a stimulus (toy, squirrel, car, etc.). Impulse control is an extremely important skill for any dog to have that could save the dog's life. There are many fun ways to practise impulse control, including following cues before retrieving a favourite toy (as outlined in this video of Nana, at around 0:24: ruclips.net/video/cwzBT_Pv-qI/видео.html) or with simple, fun tricks such as the coffee table trick. Nana gets rewarded royally after removing the items from her bottom, no worries. ;) And trust me, if she didn't enjoy doing the trick, she wouldn't do it. End of story.

Border collies absolutely need mental stimulation. The more you challenge them, the happier they are. That's just my experience from growing up with a border collie/sheltie mix. Humans feel the same need all the time, so it really shouldn't be difficult to understand. Nana has got to be one of the happiest dogs on earth.

An incredible list of tricks and behaviors. On average how long does it take for her to learn each one? And definitely yes: give them love and pawsitive reinforcement and you've got a true friend for life.

So amazing !! I used to have border collie and I've never forgotten her, she was like a human with a human look, she learnt anything with little training she just wanted us to be happy and was an incredible dog, this video is so wonderful blessings for you to make Nana so happy

Nana inspired me to actually work with my dog and the more I worked with my BC/german shepherd I learned more about my dog and now have a job volenteer ing with a local dog trainer and my dream now is to be a dog trainer. Thank you.

You and Nana inspired me so much!! This video is the reason why I started training my own dog Tess (border collie) and I really enjoy training her. At this moment Tess knows about 120 - 130 dog tricks, and she is still learning new ones. I even made a video of her. Thanks for inspiring me, and good luck with training your pets :)
If you spend that much time with your (animal) I happen to favor dogs myself, with that much love and encouragement incredible things are going to happen. Your nana and my nana were complete opposite but she was just as amazing to me as your nana is to you. Your just one of the lucky ones that it shows on the outside of your dog! Good job! Don't bother your self with any thing negative.

Awesome job! As a trainer and owner of Border collies, I watch this with tears of missing as well as joy. I miss my Border Collies I have had and love the aging ones I still have. But am overwhelmed with joy watching you do so much stuff with your dog. Keep it up please.
