Most commonly these are launched from jet-aircraft, or helicopters, but varients have been tested to use them as sams. (I am aware that they tested it against tanks as well, with a modified version). These are guided missiles with a proximity fuze. (The type of proximity fuze depends on the model). He also states that it uses rdx and a bunch if other gobbledygook, meaning, its not a kinetic kill weapon, but a missile relying on an explosion after oenetration is achieved. Rounds like these can be found in ww2 tanks (aphe) and even the T-55. Now, if this thing is meant to destroy a bunker, youd need quite a bit of rdx. If it is meant to oenetrate said bunker too, and not just fly into a firing port the cap needs to be very strong, and the missile needs to be very fast. Now lets look at the missile. Its about the size and shape if a VOG. These are fired by the russian AGS series of automatic grenade launchers, and can easily be dropped by drones. These are 30mm. Lets give him some unreasonable leeway and instead use the 40mm he grenade as a reference. This grenade has about 48g of CompA5. I have no idea what tnt equivalent that would be. But ive worked with 40mm grenades and their effects can be rather underwhelming when you are expecting movie explosions. But in a bunker, youd probably stand a good chance at killing an occupant. The issue is. The 40mm HE round is an he round only. For more effect youd want an HE-F(ragmentation) round. Hammer does not mention a fragmentation effect so we should rule that out, as it would be unreasonable not to mention this very important factor. The 40mm he round also does not need space for a rocket engine. It is also not armor piercing. The M433 HEDP is. When we tested it against steel plates it punched a whole straight through both with energy to spare. Mind tho, this is a shape charge. Basically a miniature RPG warhead. So the kill radius is smaller than on HE-F rounds. Now. Lets assume 40mm and the kength of a VOG + a little bit, just to give hammer as much of a chance as possible. You would need the explosive filler, the cap, the rocket engine, the guidance system (hammer speaks of a smart rocket, so a guidance system seems to be included), and the mechanization for the guidance system. Lets assume thrust vectoring, since there are no guidance fins visible. How traget acquisition would work is beyond me, as there does not seem to be any option for a tv seaker, a heat seeker or a receptor for laser designation, as the cap and body are entirely metal. This leaves you all with hardly any soace to fit explosives. So even if you were to punch through a bunker, youd do little to no damage inside. That is, if you were to punch through. The missile is so small, and light, that it would need to go VERY VERY VERY fast to pull this off. Please if someone reads this whose better at maths than me, lemme know how much a, lets say (and i am exaggerating here) 1.5kg projectile would need to go to go through a meter of reinforced concrete. The launch mechanism however holds the missile in place for a good two seconds. So given the size of that missile at least half of its fuel is burnt without achieving any acceleration. Fine, i can live with that, afterall it needs to achieve zero-zero launch capability. (Zero altitude, zero speed before launch). So the remaining fuel would need to accelerate the missile to many times the speed of sound. As we can see, that is not achieved on a distance as short as the one chosen by rhodey. Given the small amount kf soace for fuel, it is unlikely that the rocket engine itself would remain powered for much longer than that tho. And even if it had, theres a much better chance it would just shatter upon impact, due to its weight. There is no mention of any super dense materials. But even with tungsten or depleted uranium for the cap, it leaves us with the same result. Just by its design, this thing physically and logically cannot penetrate a bunker, it cannot be a smart rocket, it cannot be a guided missile, and it cannot achieve great lethality unless it is an HE-F projectile. And at that point just use 40mm the US military already fields a veriety of these systems. From personal grenade launchers like the M-320, which, like the M-203 can be mounted on a standard issue rifle, to beasts like the MK-19 automatic grenade launcher and a few oddities like the MGL, or the awesome because retro M-79 in the middle. The ex-wife tech had some interesting safety features. It's like a grenade launcher round, needing specific conditions to arm.
Rhodey not realizing it has a minimum arming distance is hilarious lol
scarlett johanson in iron man 2 was especially gorgeous. god damn
I always figured the hammer tech thing was because if it was a stark industry missile, it would’ve been going fast enough immediately from the launcher.
StarkTech doesn’t have a minimum range
I loved this movie man, people hated on it and I was like ?? DJ/AM in it too. Banger.
Because Rhodey learns from his mistakes 😂
chitty chat sounds like an excuse cat
The Ex-Wife had me dying 😂
Finally something we never knew
They accelerate on impact.
Nice edit at the end , 😢
-Hammer?
-Hammer.
It probably helped that whiplash wasnt wearing any fancy armor in the deleted ending too
Gonna love the ps1 graphics.
Well no shit … EVERYTHING dangerous coming at you at a high speed
Didn't know the AI voices could smoke 😂
Well, the other ending happened, creating an alternate timeline, which made the TVA come in and prune it.
We need the iron man 2 version of war machine's suit to come back. Nobody will ever convince me that there is a better suit than that lol
I forget this is how black window is introduced to the mcu. I don’t think anyone was ready for Scarlett Johansson to be such a honey pot for tony to distract and spy on him.
Hot damn
Similar problem with the gyro jet, it can penetrate armor but only if you give it time to accelerate over distance.
They did Hammer dirty. Should have kept the original ending. That'll set Hammer up as a threat, maybe even one of the main villains down the road. Then we'll have even more movies
y iron man at last is like iron box😂😂
Nice edit
Cgi of deleted scene is priceless 😂
This gut studied advanced physics to understand the ex wife
Reminds of when shield used hammer tech in an iron man show once and fury claimed to never trust hammer tech again.
Hmm, just like how grenade launchers have an arming distance. Neat.
Scarlet Johanson was really hot in iron man 2, fr 🥵💯
THANK YOU. I've been tryna explain this to everyone for years.
I always thought I just grown tired of Superhero movies. But seeing that clip I am starting to think they really were just way better back then.
This type of projectile is real it was used on the MGM-166 LOSAT the missile had good long range performance but it suffered at close range due to poor penetration.
And for some reason people in the comments didn't believe the unfinished CGI models weren't real.
Or because of those unfinished CGI models that the video wasn't real? Something like that. Bro it's so baffling in the comments in the full video. Because it clearly is real, it's just that the CGI is unfinished because they deleted it.🤦
So in order words, the weapon was working fine. It's just the person using it who didn't know what they were doing.
In Luke Cage, they use a scaled down version of the Ex-Wife tipped with alien metal recovered from New York to try and kill Luke Cage
The round is a gyrojet explosive round, where initial low velocity impact allows the alien metal tip to slice through armor without flattening the bullet. Then an afterburner pushes the round deeper inside the target where it detonates. A weapon designed to kill Iron Man
The scene in the end is what I thought of marvel movies nowadays
