I'm a die hard Bruno fan and I think the issue with fat juicy and wet is we're aware Bruno sings about sex. That song however is very literal with how it's talking about sex and it's especially, for lack of a better term, too gross. Cardi's verses went there somewhat but didn't go too far. And sexy red is a rapper who would go that far so it makes sense for her it was just a shock hearing Bruno on a song that just goes off those rails. Also the production sounds very 2018 and not in a good way. I just couldn't get behind it unfortunately

I'm going to be honest here, I might get hate for this comment but oh well: Personally I dislike Sexxy Red, Bruno Mars' collab with her was definitely not my favorite HOWEVER - I feel like people online are acting like this ONE collab is going to destroy his ENTIRE career, it's almost ridiculous. I saw one comment on the music video that read something along the lines of "A majority of Bruno Mars' fanbase consists of minors!!! This is wildly inappropriate, why would he promote something like this??" And my response to that argument would be: 1. He is an adult. He isn't responsible for raising your children and 2. Gambling is one addiction I do not understand. Drugs, alcohol, nicotine, sugar, caffeine...I can understand being addicted to substances that you put into your body. Things that block out pain and make you feel good for a while and when you haven't had it for a while your body starts craving it, you go through painful withdrawals and feel like you can't function without it. I can understand an addiction to substances, but gambling? How can you be addicted to losing money? Even if you're winning for a while, you know those casinos have the odds and eventually luck runs out. So, I don't get it. If I lost a bunch of hard-earned money at the casino I would never gamble again.

There lies within everyone the potential to become addicted to ANYTHING. Shopping, sex, pron, eating, starving, adrenaline, solitude, social media, video games, work, etc It’s about what drives the individual to go beyond a healthy enjoyment into this dark playground where each “enjoyable” activity is really overlaying a deeper emotion. Often the cycle of addiction itself also contributes to the worsening of it. Elements of shame, desperation, and the extremes of basically chasing dopamine start to destroy someone’s life and their addiction convinces them that what they are doing will be the answer. (Spend more, use more, do more, etc) I say this as a professional with experience in the field of addiction, my own experiences of addictive emotion, and a brother who made it through serious battles. Not to at all be the expert just my impression from what I’ve seen!

I liked APT. and Die With a Smile, those songs to me were very Bruno like material and didn’t make it seem as though he was uncomfortable or just out of place. The song with Redd is just BAD. I tried giving it a chance given the fact that he has had songs that were a little in the freaky/ sensual side of things. The outrage (I think) was due to what Sexxy Redd represents and just who she is as a whole. Now granted, Cardi B has said and done some god awful things (I.e mocking a dead child, calling black women cockroaches, admitting to drugging men, and so much more) however at the time she was the new girl and everyone wanted to work with her. And the songs she has with Bruno are good, they have replay value and they just have an overall good taste/ quality to them. The collaboration with Redd just sounds outdated and very blah to me. I’m not a fan of hers but I did try to give it a chance. I would love for you to do a video about Nessa Barrett, Madison Beer and Tate McRae given that she’s gonna release her new album soon and just released her new single Sports Car.
Honestly, I think APT.'s production is a strong point of the song, not weak. How he and his team layered it, u can clearly hear a development through the whole song and that intentionally dirty synths, harmonies at the end. You are right tho, its pretty Bruno Mars coded track. He is one of the few who uses song-structure knowledge in his art. Paak said it well, you can find his words about working with Bruno, how Andy changed his craft process because of him. Bruno is true musiccian and just because of that I know that he will not drop a bad project. Say whatever you want about FJW, its still catchy and, once again, there is growth in it, every little detail is studied.

Personally I dislike Sexxy Red, Bruno Mars' collab with her was definitely not my favorite HOWEVER - I feel like people online are acting like this ONE collab is going to destroy his ENTIRE career, it's almost ridiculous. I saw one comment on the music video that read something along the lines of "A majority of Bruno Mars' fanbase consists of minors!!! This is wildly inappropriate, why would he promote something like this??" And my response to that argument would be: 1. He is an adult. He isn't responsible for raising your children and 2. A LOT of Bruno Mars' hits (although not as vulgar as his song with Sexxy Red) were NEVER even intended for minors in the first place. Locked Out of Heaven, Grenade, Gorilla, etc. all had very mature meanings.
If I had to choose between "APT", "Die With a Smile", and "Fat Juicy & Wet" I would choose Die With a Smile. I think it's the best written, best vocally and best produced structurally and instrumentally overall.

Gambling is one addiction I do not understand. Drugs, alcohol, nicotine, sugar, caffeine...I can understand being addicted to substances that you put into your body. Things that block out pain and make you feel good for a while and when you haven't had it for a while your body starts craving it, you go through painful withdrawals and feel like you can't function without it. I can understand an addiction to substances, but gambling? How can you be addicted to losing money? Even if you're winning for a while, you know those casinos have the odds and eventually luck runs out. So, I don't get it. If I lost a bunch of hard-earned money at the casino I would never gamble again.

There lies within everyone the potential to become addicted to ANYTHING. Shopping, sex, pron, eating, starving, adrenaline, solitude, social media, video games, work, etc
It’s about what drives the individual to go beyond a healthy enjoyment into this dark playground where each “enjoyable” activity is really overlaying a deeper emotion. Often the cycle of addiction itself also contributes to the worsening of it. Elements of shame, desperation, and the extremes of basically chasing dopamine start to destroy someone’s life and their addiction convinces them that what they are doing will be the answer. (Spend more, use more, do more, etc)
I say this as a professional with experience in the field of addiction, my own experiences of addictive emotion, and a brother who made it through serious battles. Not to at all be the expert just my impression from what I’ve seen!

I liked APT. and Die With a Smile, those songs to me were very Bruno like material and didn’t make it seem as though he was uncomfortable or just out of place.
The song with Redd is just BAD. I tried giving it a chance given the fact that he has had songs that were a little in the freaky/ sensual side of things.
The outrage (I think) was due to what Sexxy Redd represents and just who she is as a whole.
Now granted, Cardi B has said and done some god awful things (I.e mocking a dead child, calling black women cockroaches, admitting to drugging men, and so much more) however at the time she was the new girl and everyone wanted to work with her. And the songs she has with Bruno are good, they have replay value and they just have an overall good taste/ quality to them.
The collaboration with Redd just sounds outdated and very blah to me. I’m not a fan of hers but I did try to give it a chance.

Honestly, I think APT.'s production is a strong point of the song, not weak. How he and his team layered it, u can clearly hear a development through the whole song and that intentionally dirty synths, harmonies at the end. You are right tho, its pretty Bruno Mars coded track. He is one of the few who uses song-structure knowledge in his art. Paak said it well, you can find his words about working with Bruno, how Andy changed his craft process because of him. Bruno is true musiccian and just because of that I know that he will not drop a bad project. Say whatever you want about FJW, its still catchy and, once again, there is growth in it, every little detail is studied.

I had to listen to it twice. The 2nd time I liked it. I think why the song w/ Sexy Red is so shocking is because Bruno hasn't been really seen as a sex symbol. His image,brand, and marketing doesn't coincidence w/ being a sex symbol. I feel if someone like Justin Timberlake or Usher in their prime specifically in the early 2000's were to make a song like Fat Juicy & Wet w/ the exact same chorus. It’s not about conservatism. People are tired of mediocre content. There were so many songs in the past that directly talked about sex in a CREATIVE way. I think all the songs have been mid to decent (unlike the Soul Sonic singles which were all gems, even Skate), but I appreciate the craftsmanship and talent on display with Die a Smile...even though I'm getting sick of it now, lol. Will always love a good instrumental bridge too. The beat/production on FJ&W is actually really nice - much more memorable than APT - it's just the lyrics aren't memorable/punchy beyond their explicitness...and we don't get Bruno singing, which is what we love him for.

Bruno created so much commercially liked music. You heard everywhere these songs. I like his songs. He is very talented but I really believe he is heavily controlled by industry when industry's find artists like him they try to do everything to get them addicted to s*x, dr*gs or gamble. He has been in this industry since he was a kid. They made him have so much gamble debt so they could make him keep working. He still creates amazing music but I think he stoped caring about context of songs. He does most of these to pay that debt. A debt that very likely will never be paid. Sad really. Industry trapped him like they did to Michael Jackson💔
