    I brought a car to the dealer for a warranty repair, also had a coupon from that Dealer for a free tire rotation. The service writer (department manager) really didn't want to honor the free tire rotation & brake inspection. Once the warranty expires, I would never go back to that dealer. Nice going service writer.

      Wtf lol. Subaru offers free tire rotation with every service if you want it. I will only buy Subaru because I had bad experience with Toyota, Ford, dodge and so far Subaru has been the best to deal with for reliable cars, and warranty repairs. I do my own oil change and fluids anyway.

    Dealers, have a bad habit of double charging when services have an overlap. Was quoted for a timing belt job and noticed each accessory belt had its own labor charge in addition to the labor to remove the timing belt. (timing belt jobs include labor remove other belts in order to access the timing belt) This has happened twice to me. Also had another mechanic do this job and I noticed the old accessory belts were put back on. At the next service, they then said those belts needed to be changed, which pissed me off because the accessory belts were just off the car for the timing belt job.

    What I hate the most is when they do the very minimum. My uncle's Lexus was due for a timing belt. Then, some 10k miles later, he needed a water pump. Why the hell didn't they just add another hour plus parts for that while they were already in there? He ended up paying for another timing job so the pump could be done. That's like paying extra for a bag when you go shopping at WalMart... oh, wait...

    • @Matthewjo22
      @Matthewjo22  5 месяцев назад +4

      I think he scammed for first timing job, because timing kit comes with water pump and any pro tech need to tell the Clint e need to this now for free no extra labor because the parts include the kit

    Flat-out thieves. I bought an extended warranty. After a check-out, the dealership told me I needed to replace the power steering wheel. after the work was done, they called me saying that the warranty would not cover the fluid and I would have to pay for it. How much? $200 plus. I told the person to put the old fluid back. No way Jose. I changed it myself later, not spending more than 30 dollars.

    I used to be a line tech at a dealership. I cannot tell you how many times we line techs would get a car from the lube rack where the techs would call out repairs for us line guys to do that involved us redoing the work they just did and the customer paid for but warranty was going to pay for me to do the repair. For example, they might have a car with the 3.5L engine and call out a leaking water pump while they’re doing the oil change. On that engine, the water pump is inside the timing cover so I will be replacing the oil and filter while I’m doing the repair and Ford will pay for all the parts and labor, including oil and filter. This after the customer just paid for an oil change and the car was driven from one side of the shop to the other for me to drain the oil again.

    If you didn’t know anything besides tax title and plates is the only thing is what you pay . That’s what I pay any fees are all a scam . When you see the finance guy don’t buy anything because it will be at least double the price. And the main thing you never do when the salesman ask you what payment you want do not tell him because if you say 450 a month and the car you want is 350 a month they won’t tell you that they will tell the finance guy and he will add things to your bill like warranty to the glass alarm system and he’ll tell you it’s all free no it’s not free. You wanna pay 450 they try to get as close as possible to 450 as they can, that’s what they do also, so good luck guys

    IMO, any shop turning rotors these days it’s actively trying to scam their customers. I was in the industry for years and worked as an assistant service manager. 90+% of the time, turned rotors will warp very quickly. Any decent shop will insist they be replaced if they’re warped or out of spec and don’t even offer turning.

    • @Matthewjo22
      @Matthewjo22  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah that’s why they insist, no warranty and 100% clients come back for same reason

    • @TastySurrealBowl
      @TastySurrealBowl 5 месяцев назад +1

      Exactly. Recently I asked a shop to turn the warped rotors on my one-year old car with 20K miles after they suddenly warped. They informed me that they don’t turn rotors anymore on newer vehicles they just replace them. I’m old school and I thought they were scamming me. So I read up online and sure enough - the price of a pair of new rotors (that come with a warranty) wasn’t much different than turning them would’ve been. On the other hand, they had told me when I scheduled that “because the tolerances are so tight we’re going to have to put new pads on at the same time. It’s required.” When I brought the car in (dealership) I had a really long talk up front asking the service mgr if there was any way on God’s green earth they could somehow possibly warranty these fairly new rotors under the bumper-to-bumper warranty, do me a huge favor and earn a customer for life, etc., and when they were done they said they replaced them under warranty as “Kia allows for one incidence of warped rotors potentially due to a manufacturing defect” under the bumper-bumper-bumper warranty.” I thanked them profusely and asked “so you put new pads on too?”, and the answer was “Nope. Didn’t need them. They were fine.” 🧐
