As a Nigerian who was deceived for years by this "junk", Conrad couldn't be more right. This is so spot on...it's an ingrained problem, it is deception and it really is sad.

I read the article and he is so dead on. As a Nigerian, I am so grateful I came to the Lord outside of the context of these types of "churches." Unfortunately, my immediate and extended family is ensnared in this type of syncretism and it's scary to see how deeply entrenched it is in their beliefs - especially when you mix the good old prosperity gospel (which is really just an idol of prosperity being paraded as Christianity). Disturbing stuff indeed.
Michelle Onuorah conrad is an awesome speaker. I didn't realize their was such a problem, with the charismatic issue in Africa. John macarthur invited him to speak at the strange fire conference. you can utube it. it was good.

Abeg I don't have the strength to explain context of the Nigerian society and the church to you, but you need to humble yourself, get down from your high horse and look again. There's a reason why these type of "churches" are growing larger every other day. Smh
I'm a Nigerian and sincerely we have a lot of religious junk being propagated by many churches, especially the Pentecostal denominations. The gospel has been reduced to health and wealth gospel. It's a man-centred rather than Christ-centred gospel. God help us.
yes, we have the same problem here in South Africa. It's not the pentecostal churches only,I was born into a mainline church, they are stockvel organisations. It must be a crisis of the entire world!
If you call yourself a christian and never read your bible know that you're on the fools que. When your turn comes you will be easily fooled. Wake up and start reading your Bibles and talk to Jesus about all your problems. He is the only deliverer and will surely deliver you. You don't need a witch doctor in form of false pastor or prophet to deliver you from whatever. Wake up.

My spouse has become radicalized and is all in on this nonsense. We dont even pray together anymore because she's thoroughly entrenched in this cultish, superstitious, deceptive, rubbish. She spends 2% of her time praying from a Christ-centric standpoint, praying TO God and 98% praying AGAINST a bunch of things seen nowhere in the Bible: like "spirit wives/husbands, witchcraft birds and scorpions hindering your destiny", etc.
Please join me in praying for her to receive revelation, join me in praying for my family, my child is being corrupted by this garbage and everytime I bring it up it causes a fight. Even this is a "demonic spirit attacking our marriage". She's full blown delusional

I appreciate, understand, and agree with how he unpacked what is meant by Nigerian Junk. However, the term can be very offensive. Actually, the junk is not indigenous to Nigeria. Quite contrary it is an imported theology. To be candid it is American Junk. Let’s not be theological elitists.
I think he understands this by seeing that it is exported from the USA! By calling it Nigerian Junk, he is owning it as Junk that has become uniquely Nigerian - in a Nigerian context.

Historically it was Western Europe, on the heels of the Enlightenment, that diluted the authority of Scripture. Cultish practices are bound to flourish when the Gospel is no longer central.

Racist comment; does nothing to build goodwill between the Children of God. Even if it were true, it is not wise to judge a man's character from his facial expression in a 6 minute video. To assume he is expressing joy over pagan hersey which sadly pervades much of the African Chruch (don't take that too harshly; in the West we have a problem with Carnal 'Christians', who worship Mamon with their deeds) is a rather bold statement to make. Just because he is white does not mean he's plotting and delighting in the suffering of African peoples.

I find the title of this video highly insulting. Is it being insinuated that religious junk does not emanate from any other countries? I do not deny the presence of false teachers in Nigeria but titling this video this way suggests religious junk is peculiar to Nigeria whereas it's not.
