I don’t think there’s an easy way to compare the two. We see Aang’s journey for almost a year when he was 12, and we see Korra’s journey from 17 to 21. We know some of the things Aang accomplished in his lifetime, but yeah it’s hard to really compare. Also, they are the same person.
It's not hard to compare since when does it become an issue to compare characters at different age this was never an issue until aang vs korra the only reason this is an issue is character bias Just for an example I asked who is a better hero/fighter Batman vs robin irrespective of age this is an easy question just like aang vs korra
Aang didn’t cause the war, it was Roku’s fault. Aang was 12 and even if he had stayed, he couldn’t have stopped an entire army of amped firebenders when he only could bend 1 element. He would’ve been killed in the AS and the cycle would have ended, so in a way, running away was the best option he had, thanks to the shitty decisions that Roku took causing the war. And about the Lion Turtle, yeah it’s a Deus Ex Machina, but Korra has like four crucial moments that are a Deus Ex Machina in her series…
It also led him to Toph who taught him seismic sense which was very valuable in battle and befriend Zuko who ended the war. If he stayed he would never have met Zuko so the fire royal family would continue to take over. Zuko was essential since he stopped the cycle making sure the war doesn't continue after Ozai.
the argument that Aang was 12 can be applied to Korra for most of her show, considering she’s 16-17 “you’re just a child!” “well, you’re just a teenager!” Aang literally said it lol
Just to add context on why she trusted unalaq he was the only one that was seemly honest with her before that tenzin and her father was lying to her and she found out about her father's past while unalaq was only helping korra at the time(not his true intentions but it was how it looked to korra) she had every reason to trust him in her mind
I love both Avatars Aang and Korra for who they are, flaws and all. They're both on the same team anyway 🤷🏿 Subscribed btw. You have an awesome channel. 👍
You called out the Lion Turtle Deus ex machina but didn't call out any of the Deus ex machinas from LoK. She can bend air after her bending is taken away, she can bend air just at the right moment even though that moment has nothing to do with Airbender philosophy or why she couldn't airbend. She activates her "inner spirit" or whatever it was in Season 2, even though she technically wasn't the Avatar anymore and was one of the most spiritually lacking people among the leads. She found Rava minutes after she was destroyed even though it was supposed to take 10000 years for her to reappear. Her leaving the spirit portals open is somehow beneficial or only somewhat annoying to the world even though in Wan's time the spirits forced making onto the Lion Turtles. The quality of Korra's "change" is a different can of worms. But I bring up one thing: She barely has to admit her consequences. The closest is in book 3 when she doubted she did good with the spirit portals, and then Tenzin robbed that moment. (And character torture is not character development) Also other points: Untrained Aang with the Avatar state was pretty weak tbh. About as good as 1-2 bending masters. That wouldn't be enough against an army of supercharged fire benders on a mission to kill an entire nation in one day. So even if it seems wrong, Aang leaving and getting frozen was better than him dying there and potentially ending the Avatar cycle. He escaping with Gyatso might have been better, but that could have made the hunt for the Avatar by the Fire Nation worse. The best Avatar is supposedly the one who fulfils their duties the best. Keeping the balance or bringing one. Aang letting the 100-year war happen is pretty bad, but as I said, he really didn't have many chances there. But he did bring peace after all. Korra however intentionally brought chaos into the world with season 2, and only fixed the political things. Be the bridge between the spirit and the physical world: Aang did that, there wasn't really any big riff between humans and spirits, except for the North Pole incident. Korra just removed the need for that. She also kind of failed with the wines in Republic City, which was later solved offscreen. I can't agree with your conclusion.
Korra is 1) a female main protagonist 2) not an exact copy of the previous series Those two things trigger overly sensitive diaper pisser nostalgia goggle wearing babies
@@elin111 Korra was a poorly written character (initially) and even when she got better, she wasn't nearly as well written as Aang or most of OG team Avatar. Something you and Mr analysis up here would know if you fucking watched the OG series. I like Legend of Korra nut do not pretend it was better than Last Airbender
Aang changed the course of a war, but Korra changed the course of time as we know it. Spirits and humans are united, the air nation is flourishing with fresh life. Aang didn't explore the diversity of decisions he could make as an Avatar, even with that flashback in season 1 of Korra it seems he learned about taking people's bending away then went hog-wild using it as a trump card. Which only created more problems (the equalists) I like Aang, but Korra is the better Avatar. She's very Kyoshi-like. Aang is more like Roku, letting things get out of hand by being passive (the 100 years war)
Aang simply isn't a good avatar. He never impacted anyone's life, it was mostly Katara. Aang never bonded with anyone outside his group, he ran from fights, simped and simply didn't do anything
@@gaminginvirinch3339 without using the cop out argument of Aang vs Ozai bcuz we knew this was eventually gonna happen (not to mention defeating Ozai wouldn't stop the war)....what did Aang accomplish throughout the series?
Hey monk, I wanna mention it's hilarious how much the lion turtle thing annoys you xD I completely understand and it's very called for but it's still funny, I wanna say while I disagree the fact that korra is the best avatar, it's not because I think aang is better than her. I quite honestly don't think there is a best avatar, because all avatar tend to the repeat the same progression of growth that the first avatar did and you can kinda notice it the closer you look at each avatars story. It hits me as a sad realization that the avatar will keep reincarnating and having the same progression and then repeat it in the next life but with a completely opposing direction and as long the world still needs an avatar then no avatar is the best and I think that's poetic because it doesn't mean all of them are failure because you can never eradicate the evil for the sake of balance and every avatar is unique in the way they choose to perform their duties and responsibilities. That variety in past experiences is what makes every avatar a bit better than the one that came before. Now you can think about how genji is gonna perform his duties after korra due to her being cut off from the other avatar reincarnations. Great video, Much love, Keep going hard monk.
That's a good point- not totally fair to compare across eras and stuff, and everyone's journey is different. Lion turtles are like the only blemish on an otherwise perfect finale so it does annoy me hahaha appreciate the support as always ❤
Ang is the best, he gave his life and fate forcefully took his people, he became what he wanted to be not a killer tho if it's a fighter or killer you wanted in atla zuko and every FN or earth kingdom watertribe adversary would have all been dead, by someone who has nothing to loose, Anyway ANG DESERVES VENGEANCE
