Alhamdulilah for Islam, BUT there is a large group/tribe of Somali people who aren't Muslim. Islam was brought to Somalia, but before that there were pagans who did not practice any religion and those people still exist. Some cover up and some don't, so you never know until you ask them. For the most part Somalis are 98% sunni Muslims.
I totally disagree with you, before when I was younger I thought like you but as I grew older I realized theres nothing better than somali love. came across this vid as recommended by RUclips and found it interesting. as for the particular scent of somali girls, I ve heard this comment alot and used to try masking it with perfumes. this is a mixture of oils and other ingredients that usually prepared home by traditional women and then used to give the body a plesent smell after shower. it's also used as a smoke and keept home to give the house a fresh smell plus it stays free of flies and other insects 😊. so I never used it personally on my body yet my clothes and the entire house were saturated with the smell due to the smoke effect. we call it (onsi) in somali or (bakhoor)in Arabic.. of course each culture has its own tradition and I can fairly tell by the the women's scent only which part of Africa she is from. as for the shesha,it is adapted by somalis from the arabs and has nothing to do with original somali culture . women of Somalia dont smoke and its considered culturally unacceptable yet the habbit of chewing(khat) is very popular among men and women there.

Are they often raised Muslim but leave later on or have you met Somalis who have never been raised in Islam? Thank you queen! so i have 4 somali people i know personally, and 3 that talk to me from around the world. 3 of the 4 here were raised muslim but 1 changed to christian, the other believes in waaq, another believe in egyptian gods, and the last one is just spirtual. The other 3 that are around the world, 1 is spirtual as well meaning he just believes in a higher power like the most high, the other girl is a somali rastafarian from belgium and believes in jah, and the last is buddist who grew up in china, its a big world out here and I know that most somalis are muslim but there are some, even as time goes along more and more are changing, I even know of one also who is atheist.

loool the frankincense you're smelling is actually frankincense but a stronger version called uunsi or oonsi and it's used to freshen up the house, married women use it to smell good for their husband. sometimes you'll see when a somali gyal gets ready for a wedding she might turn on uunsi and put it underneath her clothes, but it isn't common. usually they smell like that due to the fact they use it to make the house smell good mainly after when the food is done or when they leave the house. hope this helps.

I think the scent you're talking about is uunsi which is frankincense. It is a staple in a somali household not only for clothes but it is regularly burned in the house. Also I never realised this before but I guess somali people are still very traditional and stick to old customs even if it is making shaax or burning frankincense after cleaning. thanks for the love ✌

Nice video, you are a true Pan-African! Just wanted to clarify though that shisha/hookah is not something that is a part of Somali culture. It is seen mainly in the West and is taken from Arabs. Also, if you like Somali tea, I suggest drinking chai tea/ buying the ready made spices to make at home.

The smell is uunsi usually using oudh or lubaan (frankincense) which is burned in a dabqaad, and the smells vary depending on what you use, but the two above are the most common ones I believe. I love the smell too and your channel :)

came across this vid as recommended by RUclips and found it interesting. as for the particular scent of somali girls, I ve heard this comment alot and used to try masking it with perfumes. this is a mixture of oils and other ingredients that usually prepared home by traditional women and then used to give the body a plesent smell after shower. it's also used as a smoke and keept home to give the house a fresh smell plus it stays free of flies and other insects 😊. so I never used it personally on my body yet my clothes and the entire house were saturated with the smell due to the smoke effect. we call it (onsi) in somali or (bakhoor)in Arabic.. of course each culture has its own tradition and I can fairly tell by the the women's scent only which part of Africa she is from.
as for the shesha,it is adapted by somalis from the arabs and has nothing to do with original somali culture . women of Somalia dont smoke and its considered culturally unacceptable yet the habbit of chewing(khat) is very popular among men and women there.

Thank you queen! so i have 4 somali people i know personally, and 3 that talk to me from around the world. 3 of the 4 here were raised muslim but 1 changed to christian, the other believes in waaq, another believe in egyptian gods, and the last one is just spirtual. The other 3 that are around the world, 1 is spirtual as well meaning he just believes in a higher power like the most high, the other girl is a somali rastafarian from belgium and believes in jah, and the last is buddist who grew up in china, its a big world out here and I know that most somalis are muslim but there are some, even as time goes along more and more are changing, I even know of one also who is atheist.

loool the frankincense you're smelling is actually frankincense but a stronger version called uunsi or oonsi and it's used to freshen up the house, married women use it to smell good for their husband. sometimes you'll see when a somali gyal gets ready for a wedding she might turn on uunsi and put it underneath her clothes, but it isn't common. usually they smell like that due to the fact they use it to make the house smell good mainly after when the food is done or when they leave the house. hope this helps.

I think the scent you're talking about is uunsi which is frankincense. It is a staple in a somali household not only for clothes but it is regularly burned in the house. Also I never realised this before but I guess somali people are still very traditional and stick to old customs even if it is making shaax or burning frankincense after cleaning. thanks for the love ✌

The smell is uunsi usually using oudh or lubaan (frankincense) which is burned in a dabqaad, and the smells vary depending on what you use, but the two above are the most common ones I believe. I love the smell too and your channel :)
