here's a handy tip for anyone out there pulling on the weapon banner, never pull on the weapon banner unless you want both. The nilou and albedo weapon banners and the recurring yelan and hutao have both nice weapons that can function in many characters.

The Ayaka Shenhe banner is a total bait, but I'm planning on baiting hoyo because I need both of those weapons... It's only a scam if you go into it with less than 160 wishes.
As an F2P, I pull on weapon banners if the 4 stars are good as well and it helps to build up pity. Once you get a standard 5 star from the weapon banner the next one is guranteed to be a limited weapon, so you can then save up and pull on a banner with both weapons that you like and get something useful. Best thing is you can almost always find an use for a 5star weapon but you can't always find an use for a 5star character you don't want. I've got 6 event exclusive weapons as an F2P over 2 years and 3 of them are weapons that I wanted, but I use all of the weapons in my favorite teams. But my C3 Diluc and C2 Qiqi almost never get used.
That's exactly why I pulled on the Homa-Aqua weapons it's a very good value compared to a lot of other weapon banners where one of the weapons is completely useless on most characters.
When people say that the weapon banner is a scam, they probably mean the system behind it is the scam. Which in Genshin's case, it is so scammy that it should be illegal. I lost every weapon banner pulls I did (thrice now), while I don't really mind since I can clear the abyss just fine and can use all the weapons, it is definitely scammy for those who spend a dime in this game specially whales. I feel bad for them, and this is also the reason why I will never spend a dime in Genshin as I don't want to support a gacha company that does not value and respect their players. Unless they revamp their gacha mechanics. Their system is a stark contrast when compared to another gacha that I'm playing.
imo if you could use both weapons its not a same. Personally i've gotten lucky and been getting the weapons I want, but in general only pull if you could use both.
I wanted to make my newest server a "challenge account" so I've decided to pull exclusively on the standard banner until I got Jean (because I've never had her before). Well thanks to Lantern Rite (and.. some other rewards, I think) I suddenly had some Intertwined Fates that I wasn't sure what to do with. It felt bad to have them sitting there staring at me, and I really didn't wanna save them until I accomplished my goal, so I've decided that account will be only standard + weapons. And it is, in my 2+ years of playing, the *only* time I have wished on the Weapons banner. Between being able to lose your pity to a weapon, being able to get weapons from the Battle Pass or Bargain Shop, being able to craft solid weapons, or getting ones through world quests and limited events, it's just never been worth it before. Especially not if you're f2p. I had to set special limitations on my account to even consider it.
I tried the weapon banner for the first time this patch and I got Aquila Favonia so I don’t think I’ll go for it again unless I plan on becoming a whale
My friend told me to pull in weapon banner for aqua and homa both r good weapons, but since i started 5 months ago and almost explored every map i don't think I'll be willing to go for new weapons instead of a new character.
I got yoimiya's weapon when trying to get nahida's signature. I don't have yoimiya and i have a very few of bow users. I kinda regret getting it but after got yelan then it's not really bad
I'm a welkin spender. I tend to pull weapons for my fav characters, I say the weapon banner is not really scam... I'll say, if you're the kind that don't mind of getting the other weapon, it's fine to go for it. I know the pain of having to go get twice 5* other weapon before getting the one I wanted. Alhaitham's sword was the most painful for me... Since I had to reach soft pity each time lol... My advice is if you're a F2P, think long about it since I understand the pain of not getting weapons we want.
This is funny. I was going for Al-Haitham and I was not sure if I wanted to get his sword. So I decided to try to get the new four star weapons. Well I didn't get the sword, I got catalyst twice and I got Key of Khaj Nisut. I was not getting Nilu. At this time I do not have Kuki either. Well I thought it would help Al-Haitham. Nope. Save enough to get Nihida, Kuki and Al-Haitham and I got his sword. So at the end worked out 😂

Not weapon banner only, the characters banner is an absolute scam, in first Nahida banner I have done 140+ wish and did not get her got fucking Diluc twice, kokumi banner same shit but got Jean C0., Nahida second banner around 135 wish and got C1 Jean!!!! I am so done with this game, they scam free to play players, look how many event banners we get!! 2 event banners to make people pay and worse in all. You get fucking 5* standard characters
