I attended Shreya Ghoshal's concert last year in Los Angeles and she sang this song live, EXACTLY like the studio version.
The fast music ( which people are comparing to scatting -which is almost derogatory to call it that) which is called “Sargam” are the Hindustani classical music pure notes in different arrangements, for which you need to have mastery in vocal classical music. Some of the words are called “Boll” ( like boo) which are the notes for Tabla ( Indian drums). The dance is “Kathak” ( classical dance) and all three are intertwined-the boll, Sargam and Kathak - and that is why it is very pleasing to the ear and eyes !
No she is not scolding... She is praising her by saying you have great voice, need some improvement... Than the girl said - i am here to taught by you, we my teacher...
Whole song is a piece of art... The symbolically running ramayana story, metaphorically showing how main actor and actress gonna meet for first time if you have seen more of the song you had seen how beautiful that scene is too...
You should definitely checkout Shreya Ghosal stuff and Indian music you will not regret it

First time reacting to this guy and I agree with him even though I am not Indian but I really admire and appreciate Bollywood songs, the stories,the movies, the aesthetics of it,it’s another world,it’s always full of colors ,of elegantry, and it’s so gorgeous ❤
Closed captioning has opened up my whole music movie world..which I checked out during covid lockdown..so much more fun than anything coming out of Hollywood. Well worth taking g the time to watch. Start with " Devdas" starring SRK. ShahrahKhan.

I got to see this on the big screen in NYC 2x. What a treat. This is what we grew up watching on the big screen in South America. Americans are only now discovering the magic of what Bollywood does with such ease.
It's kathak classical dancing and sargam. Kathak is practiced in india and Pakistan it was very popular during the mughal era when courtesans would do these mujra classical dances. (This is pre 1947 partition india so modern day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh)
Khatak and mujra are two different dance form khatak litterally means khata means story telling ... And mujra is a seducing dance form for those cruel invaders ..

did a collaboration between Indian Classical Musicians
and Orpheus by Monteverdi (one of the first operas in the Western World)
and they produced some amazing bits
